Aria’s POV:

My brows furrowed, I folded my arms below my bosom and glared at my so-called husband, who sat comfortably on the couch, dressed in a black suit.

“Why are you here?” I questioned, and his gaze flickered; he stood up and waved the document he held.

“Are you seriously asking for a divorce?” he asked, his tone filled with disbelief, as if he didn’t believe it when I told him about it last time.

“You are lucky I am not asking for your properties as well, so sign and get the f*ck out of my house.”

“Aria,” Gigi called. She walked to me and held my hand. “Take him to the patio, and you could both discuss without raising your voices, okay? A divorce is a big step,” she explained, and I couldn’t believe her words. Was there even room for a conversation when everything was already so clear?

Did she log into the internet?

And if it was only about that, then I would have given some thoughts but the words he said to me, he felt no remorse and even blamed my womb so no, there was no compromising.

“Just take him,” Gigi urged, and I sighed heavily. I walked past Caleb and headed to the entrance; there was no need to go to the patio with him because after this conversation he will be leaving my home for good.

We stood at the entrance, and he kept staring at me, unable to utter a word. It was more than one minute before he stuttered, “I feel so embarrassed right now, Aria, believe me,” he muttered, and I looked away.

Wait, what was that?

My brows furrowed when I noticed a blue sports car and two bikes driving towards us, it didn’t look like father’s car.

“Who did you come with?” I asked Caleb, who looked as confused as I. Finally, the car parked, and two men occupied a bike, so four men walked down the bikes.

The door pushed open, and a man stepped down. He was dressed in a white shirt and black trousers. He took out his sunglasses and brushed his hand through his hair before scanning the place.

Our gaze met.

It was him, the man from the nightclub.

I couldn’t forget his face, I couldn’t forget his touch, his tongue… I shook my head and tried to understand why he was here.

“Liam Styles”, Caleb muttered. Was that his name? The man walked towards us with a wide smile.

“Mr Styles,” Caleb called. Liam stared at him for a while.

“Who are you?” Liam asked, his voice still captivating like I remember.

“Boss, this is Mr Walters’ lawyer,” one of his men voiced out, and Liam chuckled.

Samuel Walters was the minister of health, and recently his son was killed, and the culprit was arrested. The case is to be brought to court soon, and Caleb was excited when the minister approached him and asked for him to be his son’s lawyer.

He didn’t tell me about it; I had to find out from the press, and it had really hurt me, but now it’s whatever; his work was none of my business.

“Really?” Liam chuckled.

“If you don’t know me, then why are you here?” Caleb asked.

“For her.” Liam pointed at me; he took a step closer to me before he bit his lower lip. “Burgundy”, he called, and my face flushed. How could he call me that?

“I know this doesn’t sound so gentlemanly, but I need my shirt,” he spouted, and I raised a brow. Did he come all the way here for just a shirt?

I spent two weeks thinking of the moment we spent, but he was here for a shirt?

“What shirt?” Caleb stared at me, I cleared my throat and ignored him.

“I don’t have it here.”

“Then let’s go get it.” Liam walked to his car and pulled the door open. Was he crazy or what? Did he seriously want me to follow him?

“She is not going with you.” Caleb scolded, grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him. I quickly retracted my hand from him and took a step backwards.

“Just leave,” I muttered.

“You heard her; leave,” Caleb scolded, his jaws clenched.

“I am talking to you,” I stated, he turned to me, his eyes glistening,  he clenched his fist.

“We are still married, Aria,” he reminded me, and I found this funny; I thought he forgot about that, and that’s why he was bold enough to f*ck another woman.

“Come on, be a gentleman and leave.” Liam smacked his lips, and Caleb took a step towards him when his men hurried and stood before him.

“Calm down, friends, I am not in danger.” Liam laughed before he winked at me. “Get in, Burgundy; I urgently need my shirt.”

“I am not going with you,” I sneered.

“I am being really nice right now,” he said with a smile, but I knew there was something hidden behind that smile. Why was he placing such great importance on the shirt?

I stared at Caleb, who had an anxious look, and I intentionally wanted to hurt him, so I moved forward and got into Liam’s car.

“Aria,” Caleb muttered, but I didn’t pay attention to him as Liam drove out.

He kept driving without even glancing at me. I cleared my throat trying to gain his attention, but nothing; he was simply focused on driving.

“Where am I driving to, Mrs. Thompson?” He finally uttered a word, but did he just call me Mrs Thompson?

“Don’t call me that.”

“I know,” he replied, and the more he spoke, the more confused I got. What was up with him?

“How did you find me?” I questioned. My parents’ house address wasn’t found online, so how did he find me? And besides, I didn’t tell him my real name.

“Where am I driving to?” He repeated his question; I leant forward and pressed the navigation before leaning back on my chair.

Can’t believe he wasn’t talking about that night; he wasn’t even upset I snuck out and all… Was I really just some one-night stand to him? Did he even think of me?

The ride was silent until we arrived at my apartment. I walked out of the car and noticed the two bikes behind us. “Wait here.” I shut the door loudly and walked to the door, inputted my passcode, and hurried upstairs.

His shirt was still lying on the ground, exactly where I left it the morning Ava dropped me off.

I picked it up and returned downstairs. Liam leant on his car, staring at the sky; he looked like a P*******t art.

His gaze moved to me; I shoved his shirt towards him. He took it and searched the pocket before retracting a key card. I had no idea there was something in the pocket.

“Here.” He shoved the shirt back to me. Why?

“It’s yours,” he added, and I shook my head in denial.

“I don’t need anything from you. You came for your shirt, so leave,” I said irritatedly.

Liam bit his lower lip; he waved at one of his men, who walked to him. Liam handed over the card, his men hurriedly got on their bikes and drove away. Now it was left just to us.

“Aria Nicole”, my name rolled out of his tongue; it sounded so nice, and I wondered if such a beautiful name belonged to me.

“I am sorry for the trouble,” he added.

“I stole your shirt, so no need to apologise.” My tone was lower; there was no need to get angry at him. Obviously, there was something in the shirt, and that’s why he came.

Liam nodded and pulled his car door open. “Liam,” I called. He stared at me, and I just realised he has blue eyes.

“If I hadn’t taken your shirt, then would you have looked for me?”

He laughed. “Why would I do that, Burgundy?”

I felt a soft, piercing pain in my chest, watched him get into his car and drive out.

I wasn’t dreaming; he said that…there was no need for him to search for me; after all, I was just a woman like others.

  • The illusion Of Happily Ever After   Real With You

Aria’s POV:It was extremely hard trying to lie to yourself, but it was even harder to make a stranger feel you can’t do without him.Right now, Liam was just another stranger in my life… someone I meet during one of my tough times, and we don’t bond, we don’t argue… We just go our separate ways.“I have no idea what you are talking about.” I cleared my throat and tried to switch the topic. “You said I was fake, so why read my book?”Liam picked up the book. “This is the only one I find interesting,” he stated, and it made no sense; I wrote that book years ago when I thought it was fun.I had no plans of publishing; all I wanted was to write a story and to appreciate the hero who showed up in my life during my darkest moments. It didn’t make much sense. “Okay. It seems you have no interest in paying up, so I will leave.”He nodded, his gaze on the book. He was back to his reading while I was still present; this was my cue to leave.I stood up and spotted his box of unpacked stuff. “Do

  • The illusion Of Happily Ever After   You Owe Me

Aria’s POV:Liam stood there, dressed in casuals and also had glasses on… It made him look smart and soft; his hair was rough, and he looked so tired. His lips curled to a smile before he leaned against the doorway. “Burgundy,” he muttered in an amused tone.I cleared my throat; I didn’t come here to bond with him or entertain him.“You owe me.” I didn’t expect this to be the first word to leave my mouth, but it was a great start. I didn’t want him to have the wrong impression that I had come here for another reason.Liam chuckled and took off his reading glasses. “Come in.”“No, once I have my money, then I will be on my way,” I explained. There was no need for me to go in; we had no relationship… We weren’t even friends.“Come on in, Burgundy.”I breathed heavily before walking in; he closed the door behind me and returned to the couch… There was an open book on the table. And I couldn’t believe it; it was my book.It was the first book I ever published, “My Hero in the Dark.”A smi

  • The illusion Of Happily Ever After   It's Cancelled

Aria’s POV:I leaned closer to Sam and watched the video she was watching; it was just one of Liam walking out of court… He didn’t even say anything to the press.“Liar,” I scoffed. For a moment I thought he was really coming back to America.“I am not, okay? He didn’t say it directly to the press, but he posted it.”I rolled my eyes. “He doesn’t have an account.”I had searched everywhere but couldn’t find his account, so I figured he must not be a fan of the internet.“He has.” Sam scrolled on her phone before shoving it in my face.It was a Twitter account; the profile photo was Liam’s, but the name was not anything related to Liam Styles. It was Mr. Consegnare. In his latest post, he tweeted, “Going home for a break, no more cases.”He was coming back. Our path could cross again.Wait.“Umm…What if he meant home as in his home in Italy?” I questioned, and Sam laughed.“Why are you so interested in this man?” Ava asked in disbelief, and I pouted. Was it wrong to ask a question?“Do

  • The illusion Of Happily Ever After   He Won In Style

Aria’s POV:Mother walked and sat next to me before she rubbed my back. “You know how upset your father gets at times, so stop crying, okay?”I nodded and cleaned my tears.Caleb stood up and scanned the sitting room; I noticed his eyes grow sore, but I didn’t want to be affected by it, so I looked away.“Umm…I will leave now,” he said. Neither Mother nor Gigi answered as he found his way out of the house, and I pulled my hair and stomped my foot on the ground.“I don’t want to move in, Mother.” Why was Father asking me to move in? I didn’t want to live with no freedom anymore, a life where he controls when I go out and when I come in.I didn’t want that.“What’s so wrong with moving in? You got divorced, and instead of coming back home, you chose to stay there alone,” Mother scolded with a frown. “If you think your family isn’t important and you don’t need us, then feel free to leave. It’s not like we could hold you back,” she scoffed and left. Now I had pissed off even Mother. My fa

Aria’s POV:I nudged at Mother, who shook her head and signaled I eat quietly. “Just come in and eat already,” I said with a loud tone, and Caleb nodded. He walked in and bowed slightly. “Good day, Father, Mother…Gigi,” he greeted, but Gigi scoffed loudly.Caleb pulled the chair next to me, and Mother pushed a plate towards him; she didn’t want to talk to him, but after all, she was a mother. We ate silently till we were done. I helped Mother clean the table, and now we were in the kitchen with Gigi, and I was drying the dishes.“I don’t understand why your father invited him over,” Mother said with an irritated tone as she passed the plate for me to dry.“This time around he really crossed a line.” She smacked her lips, and Gigi sighed.“Divorce isn’t a joke; the kids had gone too far,” Gigi muttered while staring at me, and I pouted. I didn’t go far. That was the best solution to this relationship.“Aria,” Father called, and I almost dropped what I was holding.I turned to Mother, w

  • The illusion Of Happily Ever After   Love Never Dies

I knew I had a long night, as it won’t be easy trying to explain things to Father. After staring at my reflection in the mirror, I brushed my hand through my hair… He said it was pretty, but maybe he is just a liar.I pulled my drawer and took out the scissors, gathered my hair in my hand, and was about to cut it, but it was hard.My hands trembled as the scissors fell off.RingMy ringing phone brought me out of my trance. I checked the caller, and it was Caleb.“What?” I scolded once the call got connected.“Umm…sorry,” he apologized, and I sighed heavily; I was just in a bad mood.“Why are you calling Caleb?”“Father called me; he asked I pick you up on my way.”My brows furrowed. Which father? Did his parents finally return
