LOGINAria’s POV:
There was some chatter that interrupted my sleep. I slowly opened my eyes and grabbed my head tightly.
“It hurts a lot,” I cried out and scanned the bedroom. It looked like a hotel suite, and then my mind drifted to the steamy night I had with that stranger.
“Oh my,” I realised I was naked, so I walked down the bed and searched for my clothes but couldn’t find them. I spotted a shirt and quickly wore it, and luckily I found my purse.
I retracted my phone and shared my location with Ava: “Pick me up ASAP.” I sent the message and hurried to the door, but I could hear some voices. Was that stranger behind the door?
I hurried to the balcony and stared down. It wasn’t that high, but I could break my leg if I jumped.
My eyes lit up when I saw the built-in ladder. I walked down the ladder and finally made it down. The place was rather quiet, and I couldn’t spot the staff. Was this a hotel?
Even after walking down the street for a while, I still couldn’t spot anyone or a house. What place was this?
I dialled Ava’s contact, and it got connected. “I am almost there,” she said.
“Hurry up, please.” I hurried and hid behind a huge tree. I didn’t want anyone taking a picture of me or for that stranger to follow me.
I stayed there for a while and spotted some black cars driving out of the hotel I just left. Were they searching for me?
Five minutes after they left, I spotted Ava’s car, so I hurried to the road and waved at her. She quickly parked, and I hurried in.
“Drive,” I said, and she quickly drove away from there before I sighed heavily.
“What happened?” Ava questioned me before she scanned my body. “You’re in a man’s shirt.”
“I will appreciate it if you don’t ask me questions, please.” I felt so embarrassed to even think about what happened last night, so how could I bring myself to explain it to her?
She held the shirt I was wearing and pulled the collar. “Oh my…” she gasped in shock, and I raised a brow. What was it now?
“This is a Stuart Hughes edition,” she blurted, and I raised a brow. What does that even mean?
“A complete suit is worth 800,000 dollars,” she spouted, and my eyes widened as I stared at the shirt one more time.
I smacked my lips. “No more talking, just drop me off… I need to sleep.” My head was pounding, and I wasn’t in the mood to talk about a shirt.
“Okay,” she nodded and kept driving while stealing glances from me. I stared at her.
“What now?” I knew that look; she always had this look when something had happened, one that was going to annoy me.
“So uhm… Isa went along with her marketing strategy,” she blurted, and my brows furrowed.
“What strategy?”
“You know…since Olivia is an actress, then it was easy to say she was hired to play that scene in Caleb’s office and that you both are still a power couple,” she explained.
This was crazy. How could she do this without my opinion?
“I am getting divorced, so I don’t care about her stupid marketing strategies,” I scolded.
“Okay, listen to me, baby.” Ava smiled at me. “The situation is messy, but she is right; you can’t lose your marriage and career on the same day.”
“I don’t care.”
“Caleb agreed to attend the interview with you today.”
“Oh…look at him doing me a favour,” I snorted and pulled out my phone before dialling Isa’s contact, and it got connected.
“Before you say anything, just know I had no choice…” Isa quickly explained.
“You told me I could have a three-month break after the release of my book,” I said instead. I was not going to go through with their stupid marketing strategies.
“Yes, you could do that after the interview…”
I quickly hung up, and we had just arrived at my apartment.
“Please have someone get my car from the Kingpin Club and also tell Caleb to send the divorce papers to my lawyer when they’re ready,” I explained, and Ava nodded.
“So what’s your plan?” she asked.
“Run away, go to some place I could cool off my head.”
Ava nodded in understanding. “I got you covered, girl. Just do you, and I will take care of the rest.”
I smiled at her appreciatively, hurried upstairs and packed some of my stuff, and got to my second car before I drove out of the mansion.
It was a long drive before I arrived in my hometown, Yonkers, and parked the car at our underground garage.
I walked to the door and spotted Mommy pouring a cup of tea for my grandmother.
“Gigi,” I called out happily and walked in. Grandma smiled widely when she saw me. I hugged her tightly as Mother joined in the hug.
“Oh my Aria, so good to have you here,” Gigi said excitedly, and I chuckled. I also loved being with her.
“I will be here for a while,” I stated, and Mum nodded happily.
“I am glad you took my advice and came back home,” she said, and I nodded.
“Well, I was going to come anyways.”
“Good, I need more hands.” Gigi added, and we all laughed. She definitely needed a worker; whenever I showed up, she wouldn’t let me go easily.
I scanned the living room and couldn’t spot father “Where is father?”
“He went to the borders for some work and won’t be back soon” Mother explained and i sighed heavily, he was against me marrying Caleb and now that everythign was falling apart, i definitely didn’t have the guts to stare at him

Two weeks had gone by, and I didn’t dare log into the internet. I spent my time helping Gigi feed the pigs, goats, and fowls. We also planted corn, as it was the corn season. Mum always made mouthwatering meals for me every day, and I spent my nights dreaming of that stranger, well…mostly of the s*x.
The atmosphere was heaven.
“Aria,” I heard Mum call from the sitting room. I dropped the book I was reading on the bed and hurried to the sitting room, but my steps halted when I realised who had showed up.
What was he doing here?
Aria’s POV:It was extremely hard trying to lie to yourself, but it was even harder to make a stranger feel you can’t do without him.Right now, Liam was just another stranger in my life… someone I meet during one of my tough times, and we don’t bond, we don’t argue… We just go our separate ways.“I have no idea what you are talking about.” I cleared my throat and tried to switch the topic. “You said I was fake, so why read my book?”Liam picked up the book. “This is the only one I find interesting,” he stated, and it made no sense; I wrote that book years ago when I thought it was fun.I had no plans of publishing; all I wanted was to write a story and to appreciate the hero who showed up in my life during my darkest moments. It didn’t make much sense. “Okay. It seems you have no interest in paying up, so I will leave.”He nodded, his gaze on the book. He was back to his reading while I was still present; this was my cue to leave.I stood up and spotted his box of unpacked stuff. “Do
Aria’s POV:Liam stood there, dressed in casuals and also had glasses on… It made him look smart and soft; his hair was rough, and he looked so tired. His lips curled to a smile before he leaned against the doorway. “Burgundy,” he muttered in an amused tone.I cleared my throat; I didn’t come here to bond with him or entertain him.“You owe me.” I didn’t expect this to be the first word to leave my mouth, but it was a great start. I didn’t want him to have the wrong impression that I had come here for another reason.Liam chuckled and took off his reading glasses. “Come in.”“No, once I have my money, then I will be on my way,” I explained. There was no need for me to go in; we had no relationship… We weren’t even friends.“Come on in, Burgundy.”I breathed heavily before walking in; he closed the door behind me and returned to the couch… There was an open book on the table. And I couldn’t believe it; it was my book.It was the first book I ever published, “My Hero in the Dark.”A smi
Aria’s POV:I leaned closer to Sam and watched the video she was watching; it was just one of Liam walking out of court… He didn’t even say anything to the press.“Liar,” I scoffed. For a moment I thought he was really coming back to America.“I am not, okay? He didn’t say it directly to the press, but he posted it.”I rolled my eyes. “He doesn’t have an account.”I had searched everywhere but couldn’t find his account, so I figured he must not be a fan of the internet.“He has.” Sam scrolled on her phone before shoving it in my face.It was a Twitter account; the profile photo was Liam’s, but the name was not anything related to Liam Styles. It was Mr. Consegnare. In his latest post, he tweeted, “Going home for a break, no more cases.”He was coming back. Our path could cross again.Wait.“Umm…What if he meant home as in his home in Italy?” I questioned, and Sam laughed.“Why are you so interested in this man?” Ava asked in disbelief, and I pouted. Was it wrong to ask a question?“Do
Aria’s POV:Mother walked and sat next to me before she rubbed my back. “You know how upset your father gets at times, so stop crying, okay?”I nodded and cleaned my tears.Caleb stood up and scanned the sitting room; I noticed his eyes grow sore, but I didn’t want to be affected by it, so I looked away.“Umm…I will leave now,” he said. Neither Mother nor Gigi answered as he found his way out of the house, and I pulled my hair and stomped my foot on the ground.“I don’t want to move in, Mother.” Why was Father asking me to move in? I didn’t want to live with no freedom anymore, a life where he controls when I go out and when I come in.I didn’t want that.“What’s so wrong with moving in? You got divorced, and instead of coming back home, you chose to stay there alone,” Mother scolded with a frown. “If you think your family isn’t important and you don’t need us, then feel free to leave. It’s not like we could hold you back,” she scoffed and left. Now I had pissed off even Mother. My fa
Aria’s POV:I nudged at Mother, who shook her head and signaled I eat quietly. “Just come in and eat already,” I said with a loud tone, and Caleb nodded. He walked in and bowed slightly. “Good day, Father, Mother…Gigi,” he greeted, but Gigi scoffed loudly.Caleb pulled the chair next to me, and Mother pushed a plate towards him; she didn’t want to talk to him, but after all, she was a mother. We ate silently till we were done. I helped Mother clean the table, and now we were in the kitchen with Gigi, and I was drying the dishes.“I don’t understand why your father invited him over,” Mother said with an irritated tone as she passed the plate for me to dry.“This time around he really crossed a line.” She smacked her lips, and Gigi sighed.“Divorce isn’t a joke; the kids had gone too far,” Gigi muttered while staring at me, and I pouted. I didn’t go far. That was the best solution to this relationship.“Aria,” Father called, and I almost dropped what I was holding.I turned to Mother, w
Aria’s POV:One…two…threeIt was three days since I went my separate way with Liam; he dropped me at my place and drove off, and I am sure he must be in Italy right now.I was getting dressed to have dinner with my parents; Father was back and wanted to see me. I knew I had a long night, as it won’t be easy trying to explain things to Father. After staring at my reflection in the mirror, I brushed my hand through my hair… He said it was pretty, but maybe he is just a liar.I pulled my drawer and took out the scissors, gathered my hair in my hand, and was about to cut it, but it was hard.My hands trembled as the scissors fell off.RingMy ringing phone brought me out of my trance. I checked the caller, and it was Caleb.“What?” I scolded once the call got connected.“Umm…sorry,” he apologized, and I sighed heavily; I was just in a bad mood.“Why are you calling Caleb?”“Father called me; he asked I pick you up on my way.”My brows furrowed. Which father? Did his parents finally return
