Selena POV
I felt all eyes on me from every direction on the stage. I could also see my parents' confused expressions from where I stood...Oh no! Is this wedding going to be the biggest mistake of my life? I barely know anything about my soon to be husband...If looks could kill, I'd be dead by now.My heart was racing. There was no turning back.To avoid looking like a five-year-old who just lost her lollipop while staring at Rufus, I lowered my gaze and decided not to look at him again. The wedding ceremony was simplified a lot. There were no elaborate proposals, no heartfelt confessions, no witness speeches, etc. After a simple vow and exchange of rings, the priest took the microphone and said."Groom, you may now kiss your bride."I was taken aback. Was he going to kiss me?But this is my first kiss!My mind was in chaos. The man standing in front of me suddenly leaned in, and his warm hand didn't lift my chin. Instead, he cupped my cheek. The warm palm pressed gently against my cheek, and the heat made my cheeks blush. My eyes widened as I watched him lower his head, and his lips met mine...I was stunned for a moment, and my mind went blank. After the wedding ceremony...My grandmother sat on the couch in a green cheongsam. She looked frail due to illness. She gazed at Rufus sitting beside her with intense eyes.I cleared my throat and spoke softly."Grandmother, I'm sorry... Williams and I may be mate... but I don't love him, the person I love is..."I paused, looked at Rufus, and said briefly."It's Rufus..."Grandmother's eyes softened as she gazed at me with a soft smile. She then asked, "Do you really love him? Is your wolf okay with this? How long have you known him? Why haven't I heard of him before?""Uh.. Yeah, Meeka is fine with it..." I replied softly, hearing the faint growl of my wolf. It seemed like she didn't approve of the relationship..."We've been friends for a long time," I continued. Worried that Grandmother might doubt me, I quickly added, "He and Ava are best friends. Ava introduced us to each other. If you don't believe me, you can ask Ava."I glanced at Ava, only to receive a death glare in return."Ava!"Grandmother said to Ava sternly.Ava looked up and nervously said, "Grandma...""Is what your sister said true?"Ava looked at me earnestly, and i silently pleaded for her help in resolving the situation."Yes, grandma! Let her marry the one she loves and be happy," Ava chimed in.Upon hearing Ava's words, Grandmother turned to Rufus, her tone serious as she asked, "Rufus, do you love my girl too?"I was taken aback when Rufus didn't respond immediately, instead, he gazed at me with his intense eyes.Rufus hesitated for a moment before nodding calmly and softly saying, "Yes."He then gently wiped his mouth and continued, "Yes... I love your little girl too, grandmother."A faint smile played on his lips as he looked at me, his eyes filled with affection.I let out a sigh of relief quietly. When our eyes met, my heart skipped a beat and I instinctively looked away. His gaze was intense, as if he truly cared. But it was just all an act.Grandmother paused for a moment and whispered softly, "Well, since you like my little girl, the engagement with the Cobbler family should be canceled. I will inform Mr. Cobbler personally later." Grandmother said and I nervously gripped the edge of my dress.I glanced at Ava, who caught on and quickly spoke up."Grandmother, father will handle this situation with the Cobbler family. You don't have to stress yourself about that.."Grandmother reluctantly nodded at Ava, then turned to Rufus, "Rufus, from now on my girl will be under your care."Rufus's smile tightened at the corners of his mouth. His expression was calm, devoid of any emotion, as he replied with a neither humble nor arrogant tone."Grandmother, rest assured, I will take care of it."Upon hearing Rufus's words, my eyes widened in shock and my jaw dropped in disbelief.Wow! How good of an actor could he possibly be?Grandma seemed a bit tired after the wedding. Ava took her back to the pack hospital. Her ongoing health relies on the careful attention of doctors and nurses.Interestingly, only Rufus and I were left in the huge mansion, and the atmosphere was calm and awkward. My eyelashes fluttered for a few moments, then I looked up at him, my eyes clear but slightly uncomfortable. "Thank you for everything.""No problem," Rufus replied, his voice cold.Perhaps because the wedding was over and people had left, his demeanor had changed. He became cold and distant, not even looking at me.I knew that everything he did today was because of his sister, but I was still very grateful that he was willing to help me in front of my grandmother."Rufus, I will save your sister, but I have another something else to ask for!"His eyelashes fluttered and his eyes turned cold, as if he was looking down on me.I bit my lip and spoke softly, "Can I move into your house?"His pale and bruised eyes fixed on me, but he still didn't respond.I seemed anxious that he would reject me, so I quickly added, "Don't worry, I'll stay in the guest room! We can't afford to give the pack members a reason to stay on..." I swallowed and then added.. " I can pay for the rent..."I accidentally bit my tongue as Rufus kept giving me quick glances. Did I say something dumb?Epilogue"My baby... Roo!"Selena was crying nonstop, and since this was a first for them, Rufus was at a loss for what to do.Is the baby already coming? Should i take her to the pack clinic by now?Selena stood there, legs apart, as if she was hesitant to let anyone near her."Selly... Come here. Come here," Roo said softly, moving closer and wrapping his arms around her."Rufus...!""Lillian, go get the pack doctor!" Rufus shouted, and Lillian rushed out to find help.Meanwhile, Selena continued to cry, tugging at Rufus's shirt, and suddenly, a sharp pain hit her like menstrual cramps, causing her to scream in agony."Argh!!!!"She clutched Rufus's shirt tightly, her nails digging into his chest."Rufus! It hurts. Moon goddess, please...!"Ignoring the pain she was causing him, Rufus quickly scooped her up, her weight not bothering him as he dashed into the room."This way, doctor."Lillian returned with one of the pack doctors. The doctor rushed in, ready to help."I'm so scared,"
Writer's POVThree Days LaterSelena let out a big yawn as she stretched her tired limbs. Suddenly, she opened her eyes and found Rufus staring right at her."You're awake! How are you feeling? Should I whip up some food for you, or do you want to freshen up first?" Rufus bombarded her with questions, leaving Selena unsure of how to respond. She closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead, feeling overwhelmed by everything he was asking.Selena exhaled deeply. "What actually happened? I can't remember anything..."Rufus settled on the edge of the bed, took her hand, and gently tapped the back of her palm. "Sweetheart, it's been three days since you fainted.""What?" Selena interrupted, her eyes going wide in disbelief."Shh! That’s not all," Rufus continued. "The pack doctor said you fainted because you’re pregnant... Defeating Nireus took a lot out of you."Selena blinked rapidly, as if she had just seen a ghost. "Pregnant? Defeat Nireus?!""Yes! You're pregnant!" Rufus said excitedly
Writer's POV "I get that you have every reason to doubt me, but you really need to believe me. It’s only a matter of hours before Nireus and his men show up here," Issa said, locking eyes with Lillian. Both Lillian and Issa were trying hard to keep their feelings in check, but their eyes revealed a lot. "That’s not going to happen. There’s a barrier that keeps out anyone with bad intentions," Davies said, his teeth clenched. He hesitated for a moment, as if recalling something important. "But how did you…" "It’s because I came here peacefully and mean no harm," Issa interrupted, cutting off Davies. "You have to believe me, Lillian. Nireus has witches who can break that barrier," Issa insisted, her gaze still fixed on Lillian. Lillian took a deep breath and muttered, "Come with me..." "Lillian, I know she’s your aunt, but you don’t have to trust her..." "She’s not my aunt, Davies. Just go back to the border," Lillian replied, her voice tense. "I’m not leaving you with her," D
Issa's POV As soon as I was out of Nireus' sight, I picked up my pace. Once I exited the big hall, I hurried to the horse stable. I glanced back to ensure no one was tailing me before I approached one of the horses and released it from its stall. "Let’s go..." I murmured as I mounted the horse. This was the first time in years that I had stepped outside the Red clan's territory, or maybe even out of Nireus' cage.Luckily, it was slightly bright. Maybe 2Am or 3AM.I had nearly forgotten how stunning it was out here.I gripped the reins tightly, racing past the trees and various clans. Before I left the Red clan, I had cast a spell on every path I took. It would be tough for Nireus to track me down.I looked up at the sky, catching a last glimpse of the stars as it slipped behind the clouds. The day was getting so bright,, and I was running out of time.Only a few hours remained unti the day finally brighten very welll, and I needed to find Lillian or the council of Werewolves to pr
Writer's POVMyrine looked absolutely stunning in her pink and creamy white dress. When she spotted Issa and Lord Nireus approaching, she paused her conversation with the other two and happily walked over to greet them. She wrapped her arms around Issa, exclaiming, "Issa, it’s so wonderful to have you back!"The two people Myrine had been talking to introduced themselves as Dares and his brother Chares. They seemed a bit distant and quickly found an excuse to leave."Greetings to you, my Lord." Myrine said before turning her attention back to Issa. "I noticed you were just chatting with Kleopatra and her husband," she said, fiddling with the beautiful heart-shaped pendant around her neck, "I’m sure you remember who her husband is, right?""Of course I remember Aeson. I was only gone for a few years. My memory is still sharp," Issa replied with a shrug and a smile."I knew you would," Myrine laughed."They're here.""The rogue vampires and werewolves are here!" the crowd suddenly shout
Writer's POV Lord Nireus stood by his window, a glass of wine in hand, staring at the sky before his attention shifted to his wardrobe. "Come on, Issa," he said softly, tapping the wine glass with his finger. As if responding to his call, the wardrobe began to shake violently."Bless Lucifer," he whispered, a grin spreading across his face."Coming!" he nearly shouted, quickly placing the wine glass on the table. With a flick of his fingers, the wardrobe swung to the side.Taking a deep breath, Lord Nireus rubbed his palms together and pressed them against the wall, squeezing his eyes shut.Suddenly, the wall cracked open and swung back, and with a loud thud, a woman in that is naked tumbled out."Oh, my dearest Issa! It’s wonderful to have you back. Together, we shall rule the universe!" Lord Nireus exclaimed, crouching beside her and gently caressing her face.Though Issa looked pale and weak, she managed a faint smile at his words.Seeing him after so many years only made Issa wa
