Chapter 5

That evening , Harry had gone home after work, his best friend Martins visited. He sat with him in his living room and they exchange pleasantries, smiling and chatting.

Martins had been out of the country for six months ,on a business trip to Dubai, he had returned a day before and decided to come visit his childhood friend.

Harry tells him of how much he had been missed , and asked him how his trip went. Martins replies that all had been successful and business is moving on well with him.

Harry askes Martins about Betty his girlfriend , he had travelled together with. Martins replies that she had gone to see her parents and give them what they had bought from their trip at Dubai.

Martins teases Harry of not wanting to have his own woman , and Harry replies that he doesn't have the strength for women and their problems. He tells him about his ordeal with his PA ,Bianca .

"Bad man!"Martins shouts jokingly.

Martins encourages Harry to keep Bianca as his woman, since he finds her attractive.

He declines and says that his attachment with her is simply for fun and nothing more.

They both laugh about it and Martins tells him that sooner or later ,a woman would definitely pin him down .

Harry calls out to Clara the new cook he just employed. Martins , hearing a different name from the one he knew before asked if he had a new cook, of which Harry attests to.

"Man , what happened to Rose? she a good girl and a wonderful cook too" Martins asked.

" She messed up ,big time. I just don't want to talk about that bitch" , Harry replies.

"Well I know you too well and I'm aware of your demanding lifestyle, my guy your troubles are too much",Martins said.

Clara the new Cook works into the city room and beackons on Harry and martins to come over to the dining and eat.

She had already arranged the table and waited for them to be seated before she dishes out the food to them.

"let's go and eat", Harry told Martins.

They both walk to the dining where the food had been served . Clara immediately opens the dish and begins to serve the hot rice and sauce she had prepared.

"This smells appetizing",Martins said , commending Clara's food.

"Thank you sir", she replied , smiling broadly

"Juice please" Harry said ,keeping a straight face and looking at Clara who was smiling at Martins.

Clara takes the pack of juice which she has brought out from the refrigerator and pours it into a glass cup for Harry.

where are you from Clara? "Martin's asked.

"I am from Calabar", Clara replied.

She was carried away by questions Martins asked that she didn't know when the glass cup got filled and spilled on Harry's body.

He immediately slaps her , and pushes her away from himself.

"I'm so sorry sir" ,she cries holding her cheeks.

"Why would you have to do that! Harry, you know it's just a simple mistake and wasn't done on purpose", Martins blasts out.

" I don't like careless people, infact you are fired", Harry said.

"What is wrong with you? You have to calm down Harry, Martins pleaded.

Harry refuses to be still and walks out of the dinning leaving both Martins and Clara there. Clara begs Martins to plead with Harry to forgive her .

She had just gotten the job ,which had not lasted up to three days, loosing it at that point was totally out of the line.

Agatha comes out and finds Clara rolling and crying. She asked her what happened and Clara narrates.

"please sir Martins , you have to talk to Mr Harry , his reactions towards things are really rash and totally off point. If he continues this way ,he might end up chasing everyone close to him away", Agatha tells Martins

"Don't worry I would talk to him ,and he has to listen to me ", Martins replied.

He leaves and goes upstairs to Harry's room. knocks on the door and enters to find Harry lying down on his bed.

"That attitude you just displayed is called shit",Martins said.

"Really", Harry replied.

"Yes that was a mere mistake ,and not what should bring up any drama back there. come on man, you are better than this, you should be able to control your emotions and reactions. I know you are matured and you must always act like one.

"There was really no reason to fire your cook". Martins said.

"Oh please Martins, spare me the sermon, I don't think I can deal with that cook. She disgusts me!" Harry said.

"Is this about the drink she mistakenly spilled on you or that she disgusts you. what exactly? your troubles don't make any sense to me and you are beginning to nag like a woman!, Martin's stated .

He tells him about his attitude towards his workers, and minds him of using harmful and painful words or actions towards them.

"You can never tell who would be of help to you tomorrow and this attitude of yours can never attract good but only succeeds in promoting hatred and evil plans towards getting rid of you. You must be careful and cautious,my dear friend", martins said.

They discuss at length and Harry becomes a bit calm, Martins warns him to be good and stop being harsh on his workers. Harry agrees to yield to the Martins words but refuses to let Clara stay. He insists on getting another cook and decides he would be the one to thoroughly interview th e next cook, and he would choose according to his taste.

Martins agrees on that but pleads for him to be careful in getting another cook to avoid unnecessary quitting of the jobs.

They both laugh and crack funny jokes. Martins tells him to return back to the dinning and finish his meal but Harry declines and says what if Clara had poisoned the food. Martin's laughs and tells him to make his relationship with people cordial to avoid fear.
