Running to fire

  The dark liquid splattered making a beautiful mess. Maybe it was what I envisioned but damn, I was disappointed. I got up and listened hoping my hearing would pick up anything out of the ordinary.
There was absolutely nothing. I went against reasoning and punctured my skin letting out blood. Like before, nothing happened. Then I gave up and tossed the needle out of my reach. It hit the mirrored image far off and drop to the floor. I stared at the needle for a minute before returning to the mirrored image.
It was smiling at me. That was the strange thing, I wasn't smiling.
