Rejection

Chapter 3 Rejection

POV of Lobo

"Lobo? Did... did I make a mistake? As she lay flimsily in my arms, Lupa wept and stared at me with her tear-filled, innocent-appearing doe eyes.

"No, dearest. There's nothing wrong with you; it's all that damn woman's fault.

I glared icily at Freya. Everything made sense. She had handed Lupa the wine glass, and I was furious with myself for not anticipating this envious woman would attempt something similar.

"Guards! The Luna should be detained and taken to the dungeon.

"What? Lobo, are you sure you're serious? What the hell are you doing to me?

"Freya, shut the fuck up! Guards! You can restrain her if you need to.

I ignored Freya's yelling and gave the guards their orders as I took Lupa out of the dining hall by picking her up as gently as possible.

"I told you long ago that Freya was not our mate, and things wouldn't end well with her!" Furious with me and distraught at the state of our mate, my wolf hissed at me.

Daniel, kindly. I didn't believe for a second that Freya was this way. I had only ever witnessed her love and caring.

I had known Freya since high school. She was also an Alpha and the sole heir to the Ironclad Pack. I had always thought that we were practically meant to be together as the Alpha of the Nightfall Pack. Even if it turned out that she was not my destined mate, it made sense for us to pursue a relationship because I believed that if we worked together, we could give our respective packs good leadership. I had no desire to alter my position.

Daniel, my wolf, had been trying to tell me all this time that something similar would happen, but every time she gave me her chocolate-colored eyes, all I could see was intense love and adoration.

She made a great Luna and was a kind and considerate wife. Freya had always been open about how much she cared for me and how she had put our pack's interests first in all she did. I ascended to the position of most potent Alpha in our kingdom after our group joined. We were a rare pair of Chosen Mates, and everyone had been speculating about our love affair. Nobody had anything negative to say about me since I was the ideal gentleman in their eyes. We had grown to be the mythical pair everyone wished to be like.

Everything would have been OK if Freya and I had just continued to play our respective parts as we had been, but it turned out that she had a secret personality that I was unaware of.

"Lupa, my dear, I'm sorry. Perhaps it wouldn't have surprised her as much if I had told her about this sooner. Maybe I should have given her more time to adjust so you wouldn't have been wounded.

Before calling the doctor to treat Lupa, I gently placed her on the bed. My poor destined Mate was dealing with one trauma already after just recently escaping the agony of her pack's demise.

"Don't worry, Lobo. I don't blame you at all; it's not your fault. Freya, being the Luna that she is, none of us could have predicted that she would act in such a manner.

"Oh yes, such a Luna behaving like this," I said with rage. "If she can behave like this in front of me, then what else is she capable of behind my back?"

I called B**e back into the banquet hall after I had left the doctor and received instructions to take care of Lupa. Freya was pinned to the ground and restLupad from all sides by the guards. I made my way through the group of people who had gathered to observe her.

"Freya, I had always thought that you were a kind woman. I didn't expect you to use such an underhanded and despicable method to try and get rid of my fated mate!"

"It's funny because I also naively thought that my husband, Lobo Foster, was also a good husband!"

I clenched my teeth fiercely and stared at the obstinate, conceited woman before me. I swiftly grabbed her chin, pressing it firmly, forcing her to hold my stare. "If you are willing to admit your mistake, Freya, and accept Lupa's presence here as my fated mate, then I will forgive this...unpleasantness, and you can keep your position as Luna."

The woman before me grinned as her eyes started changing to a vivid purple, signaling she was about to use her wolf Chloe's powers. I swiftly took a step back from her, and without warning, the soldiers holding her down were violently flung away from her, colliding with tables and chairs as they did so. What ought to have been a flawless anniversary supper had devolved into a complete catastrophe.

"Freya! Are you crazy? You attacked your guards!"

She growled, "Yes, I'm fucking mad.

With a wild smile on her gorgeous face and dangerously bright purple eyes, Freya glared at me. She wore an expensive evening gown torn in several places, exposing the lovely pale flesh beneath.

As much as I hated to admit it, the version of Freya, who was in front of me, stunning in her wrath, was beautiful.

She spoke in a loud, assured voice that reverberated throughout the room as she turned to face the pack members gathered for the meal.

"I, Freya Brown of the Ironclad Pack, officially reject Lobo Foster of the Nightfall Pack, and from this moment forth, I am no longer your Luna."

"What the fuck are you talking about?!" In a rage, I yelled as I went over to grasp her arm violently and turn her around to face me.

"Don't you understand?" This is the end of our relationship, she snarled.

"You dared to reject me?!"

This nasty lady chose to reject me before anything was resolved, and I hadn't even punished her.

Fuck!

The future will make you regret this, Freya! I, Lobo Foster of the Nightfall Pack, acknowledge my acceptance of your denial. You're now going to be detained for murder! Guards! Take this nasty woman to the dungeon!"
