*Logan*
“You think they are triplets ... or sisters ?” AJ mumbles in a low voice, nodding towards the three very similar girls walking a bit ahead of us chatting excitedly.
I shake my head. “Nah ... they are just like fashion clones ... doppelgangers in matching puffy jackets”.
I hear a chuckle from the other side of the road where Lee is trotting along.. he hasn’t said a word while we walked.. but he has been throwing a stick for Luna and scratched him behind the ear, so my dog is trotting happily along beside him, a stick in his mouth.
“Not sure if I find them scary or weirdly attractive”. AJ sighs, looking after the girls.
I chuckle and Lee lets out a snort ... I think it was an amused sound. Then I shake my head. “Whichever it is ... better stay away AJ, you’ll just get burned ... also they are what twenty-one … Twenty-two ... just nah”.
“Hey, I am like almost ... half your age .. but yeah, okay, you are right ... as always”. He shrugs. “Not really my type ... types ... whatever, either and I am probably not their type either”.
“Don’t sell yourself short ... no pun intended”. He shoots me a dirty look. He has always felt a little touchy about his height, as werewolves are usually tall. “No seriously, any woman would be lucky to have you ... you are a good guy”.
He pats my shoulder. “Thanks man and well right back at you ... now we just need to go dig up those amazing women who are lucky to have us”.
“Uhm could we like ... find them above ground ? I prefer the unburied kind”. I grin and jump away when he tries to hit me over the head. “You need to jump higher to do that AJ”.
“Ouch”. Something hits me over the head and I turn to look at Lee. “Hey ... you hit me with the stick ... eww I got Luna drool in my hair”.
AJ is clutching his stomach laughing. “Oh God ... priceless ... You so asked for that Logan. Well done Lee ... top points”.
“I guess I did deserve that”. I sigh, now I need a shower. “Come on inside ... Well get you something to drink, anything else you might need”.
AJ hurries up the steps and opens the door. “Welcome ladies ... Lee. The kitchen is right down the hallway”.
*Hadley*
It’s a nice house actually, simple, nice, warm, with a scent that seems to wrap around me. Laila, Sindy and Barb are sitting in the living room discussing what to watch on tv and sipping on their herbal tea. I have stayed in the kitchen with Logan and AJ.
“Tea or coffee Lee ?” Logan asks.
“Coffee please”. I don’t really have any idea why I am still hiding from him, it just feels like the right thing to do ... not revealing who I am.
He comes over to hand me a cup, and I look up while taking it ... realizing something I hadn’t before, probably because I have been looking away from him. Without thinking it slips out. “Silver Wolf !”
I am of course referring to the superhero he plays, who is also a werewolf.
“Uhm.. I am not changing into spandex because you say the word, but well yeah … hi”. He grins and I quickly look down. “Hey it’s okay Lee, I hope you enjoyed the movie”.
I nod, feeling heat rise in my cheeks. “A lot ... it was funny and you were very good”.
“Aw thanks man, it’s nice of you to say”. He lights up with a bright smile. “Well I will go grab a shower”.
He disappears and I can’t help looking after him. I hadn’t recognized him at first, both because I didn’t really look closely and he looks different with the beard. I have only seen him in Silver wolf and an old comedy tv series, and he was clean shaven in both ... the beard is a good look on him.
I notice that AJ is looking at me a bit weirdly, as I am sipping my coffee under the hood and I make a swift decision, but before I can do anything he asks. “So ... what is your job ?”
“I ... sing”. I put down my cup and let the hood fall back, pulling off the cap. “Hi ... it’s really Hadley, not Lee”.
He looks like his eyes might pop out and his mouth is slightly open. “Ohh ... wow ... hi ... wow ... sorry you just look very different in real life”.
“Yeah I know, sorry ... not so special just being me”. I give him a small shrug.
“No, I didn’t mean that ... you are a very pretty girl”. He looks flustered. “Is that okay to say ?”
I giggle, he is kinda cute being all flustered. “It’s fine AJ ... hey why do they call you AJ by the way ? If it’s okay to ask”.
“Well, my name is really Andreas… and he ...”. He makes a motion towards the door where Logan disappeared. “ … found out it is also my fathers name, so they started calling me little Junior and Andy Junior, because ... Well I am small too. I am not a fan ... so it’s a compromise ... AJ”.
“So you are okay with it ? I mean if you prefer me to call you something else I will”. I give him a smile. I mean if he is sensitive about his height I don’t want to make him feel bad.
He smiles back and seems to relax. “It’s totally okay, I am used to it ... and well I know I am not really a big guy”.
“Nothing wrong in that, good things come in small packages too”. I give him a wink and his cheeks actually turn pink.
I hear Logan whistle from the bedroom and AJ looks like the cat who got into the cream. “Oh Logan will get so surprised seeing you are not a guy”.
“Uhm could we not tell him just yet ? I know it’s a bit weird ... but please ?” I tip my head giving him my best puppy eyes.
He looks slightly disappointed. “Okay, but you know Logan is not gonna judge, right. He is like a really cool guy”.
“I am sure he is ...”. I hear him walk closer and quickly put back on the cap and pull up the hood. “But just humour me”.
“Hey guys, aren’t they back with the car yet ?” Logan walks into the kitchen, making me bite my lip, why is he just wearin way to low hanging sweatpants ?
I am shaking my head and AJ looks like he has a hard time keeping a straight face when he answers. “Nope ... not yet”.
Logan pads over to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water and drinking from it in big gulps, a drop spilling down on his chest. Seriously why the fuck is the guy insisting on looking like a freaking condom commercial ? “Ah okay”.
“Maybe you should ... put on some clothes”. AJ is biting his lip. “You know if you need to help unload the car”.
“Well yeah”. Logan says, scratching his stomach making his abs contract and my jaw drop ... holy … Hadley stop staring at him, he is gonna think you are gay for him.
He turns and disappears into his room and AJ lifts one eyebrow, whispering. “You can stop staring now ... he has left”.
“I ... wasn’t ... shit”. I shake my head. “Does he walk around like that often ?”
“Well, yeah”. He chuckles.
Just as Logan walks back into the kitchen, now wearing a hoodie, the car pulls up outside. “I’ll go see if they need help”.
For some weird reason I manage to spill coffee down myself ... okay, so I was kinda looking at his ass, I never knew sweats could show an ass off like that. Luckily Logan doesn’t realise, but AJ is almost doubling over with laughter.
“Damn ... and I am already dirty and have shit in my hair”. I mumble, pulling off the hoodie. I am wearing a tank top under so don’t worry, it’s not like I am flashing him.
“You want a shower ? You can just borrow Logan’s bathroom, I’ll tell him ... it’s no problem”. AJ says his eyes darting around.
A shower would be so great right now to be honest. “Are you sure it’s okay ?”
“No problem at all, I assure you”. He gives me another friendly smile, but his eyes are avoiding me ... and then I realise the tank top is wet from the coffee, making my nipples stand out like search-lights ... Bravo Hadley, way to look like a porn star.
“Uhm thanks”. I hurry towards the bedroom so I can have my back to him. “Could you please get my suitcase in here so I have clean clothes ?”
“No problem, I’ll do that”. He calls after me, as I disappear.
*Hadley* As the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm glow over our backyard in Texas. Logan is playfully chasing our two-year-old son, Jasper, as he giggles and runs around in circles. I watch from the porch, a smile on my face. My hands resting on my pregnant belly. "Hey, troublemakers," I call out to Logan, catching his attention. He grins and walks over. "What's up, love of my life?" Logan asks. Taking a deep breath, I share, "I have something to tell you." I run my hand over my belly. Logan's eyes light up. "What is it?" With a smile, I reveal, "I went to the doctor today, and… we are going to have twins." Logan's joy is palpable. "Twins? That's amazing, love! Our family is growing rapidly." “Something doesn’t scare you.” I ask, raising a brow. He smiles and shakes his head. “Not the least, the more the marrier.” “Da da.” Jasper says pulling at Logan’s hand. “What twins?” Logan swings him up in his arms. “That, champ, means you are gonna have two brothers or sist
*Logan* I stretch out on the lounge chair in our backyard, the warm Texas sun bathing my skin in a golden glow. The gentle breeze rustles the leaves of the oak tree overhead, and for the first time in what feels like forever, peace settles in my bones. Blue lies at my feet, his ears twitching occasionally as he naps. Almost completely recovered now I can’t believe I actually died, like full on kicked the bucket… Calix sent me six feet under, well metaphorically, luckily no one buried me. The others explained how Hadley brought me back. "Hey, lazy wolf," Hadley's melodic voice breaks through the serene silence. I tilt my head back to see her standing at the back door, a playful smile dancing on her lips. Despite all we have been through, that smile never fails to make my heart race. "Hey yourself, songbird," I reply, grinning. "Come join me. The sun feels amazing." She walks over, it is like she has gained a new confidence in herself, a connection to her true self and her sirene
*Hadley* The words hang in the air, echoing in my mind, "I'm sorry." I struggle to breathe, my legs feel weak, but I force myself to stand, to face what's next. "What happened?" I manage to ask, my voice barely above a whisper. The doctor sighs, looking down at his hands. "He experienced severe cramps and stopped breathing. We did everything we could, but there was nothing more we could do. I'm truly sorry." “I need to see him,” I say. I know my heart won’t accept this unless I see it with my own eyes. The world blurs for a moment, my vision swimming with tears. Nick steps forward, placing a hand on my shoulder. "Hadley, maybe you shouldn't…" "No," I cut him off, my voice sharper than intended. "I need to see him." Nick hesitates, then nods. LZ looks at me, his eyes filled with sorrow, but he doesn't protest. Together, we step into Logan's room. The machines have been removed, leaving the room eerily quiet. Logan looks like he's sleeping, a peaceful expression on his face that
*Hadley*Ryan's grip tightens on LZ, and in that moment, I feel my world teetering on the edge of oblivion. LZ's eyes meet mine, a silent goodbye I refuse to accept. It's like the universe pauses, waiting for my move, a move I don't know how to make… until something deep inside me stirs. It's a weird sensation, like a hum in my blood, a melody that's been silent for too long finally bursting forth. I have never felt anything like it, I did not know I was capable… but it's as if every part of me recognizes this power, knows it's been mine all along, just waiting.I don't think; I react. My hand shoots up, not really knowing what I'm aiming for, only that I need to stop Ryan, save LZ, do something. The air around us seems to vibrate, and then, like breaking through the surface after being underwater for too long, I feel it unleash.Words, or maybe it's just pure sound, spills out of me. It doesn't make sense, but it doesn't have to. It's power, raw and ancient, a siren's call that no on
*Hadley*In the split second it takes for fear to crystallize in my veins, Nick, in his majestic wolf form, surges forward. His massive body barrels into the space between me and the descending enemy, intercepting the attack with a collision that echoes through the warehouse like a thunderclap. The force sends the enemy sprawling, thrown off course by the sheer might of Nick's intervention. His protective stance, a formidable barrier between me and harm, is a silent vow of safety in the chaos.Nick doesn't pause to savor the moment; his head swivels, amber eyes scanning for the next threat, always vigilant. I'm momentarily stunned by the primal power he embodies, the line between man and beast blurred in his protective ferocity.“Thanks,” I mumble softly. The wolf gives me a nod, and what looks like a wolfish grin. The battle rages on around us, a maelic dance of shadows flickering in the dim light. We're a team, moving with a synchronicity born of desperation and a mutual drive to sa
*Hadley*The parking lot is a cold, unforgiving space where my impatience battles with the freezing night air. I'm pacing, my footsteps echoing off the concrete, each step a sharp jab of frustration aimed at the sluggish passage of time. LZ's voice, steady and understanding, breaks through my internal storm. "I get it, Hadley. I do. But diving headfirst into danger without a plan is not going to help Logan. We need to be smart about this."I'm about to retort, the words perched on the tip of my tongue, when the sound of an approaching vehicle cuts me off. It's the old pick-up, rugged and worn, pulling into the space beside us with a sense of urgency that mirrors the frantic beating of my heart. Marshall jumps out, his presence a solid reassurance. "I've got Logan covered," he promises, and something in his tone, a fierce determination, eases a fraction of the tightness in my chest.I don't hesitate, climbing into the vehicle first, followed by LZ. The interior smells of leather and ol
