Mrs. Harris placed a hand on her son's shoulder, a flicker of concern in her eyes. "My darling... Is it true? Can you smell her that strongly?" Nigel clenched his jaw, trying to sort through his thoughts. He was an alpha. This kind of reaction wasn't normal.

And yet... something inside him screamed that Ryse was a problem.

A problem he had to eliminate before she destroyed everything he had built.

Nigel was still struggling to catch his breath. His heart pounded furiously in his chest, and the lingering nausea showed no signs of abating. Mrs. Harris placed a firm hand on his arm. "Nigel... talk to me. What's wrong?" He remained silent for a moment, staring blankly ahead. Then, he clenched his fists, his jaw tightening as he tried to contain what he had been suppressing for years. “I can’t…” His voice was hoarse, broken. “I can’t stand the smell of omega pheromones anymore.” Mrs. Harris and Eloise exchanged a surprised look.

“What?” Eloise breathed, incredulous. Nigel closed his eyes for a moment, searching for the strength to explain the unspeakable. When he spoke again, his voice was barely a whisper.

“In the United States… Something happened. Something that changed everything.” Mrs. Harris tightened her grip on his arm, her motherly gaze piercing his defenses. “Tell me, my son.” A bitter sneer escaped Nigel’s lips. He didn’t want to relive that. He had done everything he could to bury the memory, to stop thinking about it. But now that his body was betraying him, that he was violently rejecting the mere presence of an omega, he could no longer deny the truth.

“I was tricked by an omega.” Silence fell on the front steps. Eloise tensed instantly, while Mrs. Harris opened her mouth slightly in shock. Nigel continued, his tone harsher. “She was a colleague… I considered her a friend. But she… She used her pheromones to manipulate me. To subdue me.” His gaze hardened. “I almost lost everything I had built because of her.” His fingers tightened on his trousers, a pent-up rage pulsing within him.

“Since that day…” He took a deep breath, trying to push away the sickening memory. “My body rejects the scent of omega pheromones.” My alpha instincts perceive them as a threat. I can't stand them anymore." He finally raised his head, meeting his mother's worried gaze.

"That's why I distanced myself from omegas. Why I chose Eloise. She's a beta. Stable. Confident." Eloise, who had remained silent until then, knelt beside him and gently took his hand. "I understand..." she murmured. Then, her expression darkened as she glanced toward the door. "And yet, tonight, Ryse let her pheromones spread." She turned her face back to Nigel. "You see what that means, don't you?" Nigel didn't answer right away. His mind was still clouded, but one thing was certain: he couldn't stay near Ryse. Not after what he had just felt.

And especially not if she represented a threat to his fragile equilibrium.

Silence settled in the living room, heavy and oppressive.

When Mrs. Harris returned, she was accompanied by Nigel and Eloise. Her face, usually so warm, was closed off, marked by worry. Nigel, for his part, still seemed troubled. His complexion was slightly pale, and his jaw was clenched as if he were fighting internally to maintain his composure.

Ryse didn't wait to meet their gaze.

Her heart pounded violently in her chest, her thoughts colliding in a chaotic jumble. She knew something was wrong, that Nigel was probably accusing her of something she hadn't done. The unease that had settled in since her return, this visceral rejection… She didn’t have the answers, but she felt the danger bearing down on her like a storm about to break.

So, without waiting for anyone to call out to her, she slipped away. She hurried up the stairs, breathless, and took refuge in her cramped attic room. Once the door closed behind her, her legs gave way, and she leaned heavily against the wood, her trembling hand pressed to her chest.

She didn't understand.

Why had Nigel reacted like this? Why the horrified look? Why the hasty escape, as if his mere presence were unbearable?

And above all… why did she feel this crushing sense of guilt, when she hadn't done anything?

She took a deep breath, trying to calm the erratic beating of her heart.

But only one thought haunted her: Nigel despised her. And tonight had just confirmed it. Ryse hadn't slept a wink all night. Lying on her bed, staring up at the ceiling, she replayed the scene over and over again. Every detail, every expression on Nigel's face, every word Eloise spoke, looped endlessly in her mind, like a nightmare she couldn't wake up from.

Why? Why had he reacted with such rejection, such disgust?

She knew he had changed after she left, that he had become a different man, a fully realized alpha, but she never would have imagined he could look at her with such hostility.

What was she guilty of, exactly? Of being an omega? Of having existed in the same space as him?

Morning was barely breaking when there was a soft knock at her door. Ryse jumped slightly, jolted from her thoughts. She hesitated for a moment, her instinct telling her not to answer, to remain hidden in her little refuge. But the voice that rose from behind the door made her change her mind.

"Ryse, it's me."

Mrs. Harris.

She quickly got up and opened the door. The matriarch stood there, dressed in an elegant but understated gown, her hair impeccably styled despite the early hour. Her gaze was gentle, yet held a gravity that made Ryse's stomach clench.

"May I come in?" she asked kindly.

Ryse nodded silently and stepped aside to let her in. Mrs. Harris sat on the edge of the bed, observing the small room with its pale walls for a moment. It was a modest room, far from the luxury of the rest of the house, but it was always immaculate, just like Ryse.

A sigh escaped the woman's lips before she turned her attention back to her.

"I came to talk to you about what happened last night." Ryse looked down, uneasy. She had expected reproaches, a warning, perhaps even a drastic decision regarding her place in this house.

But instead, Mrs. Harris placed a gentle hand on hers.

"It wasn't your fault, my child." Ryse jerked her head up, her eyes wide.

"But..."

"Shh. Let me speak."

She turned toward the window, watching the sunbeams filter through the curtains. There was something calm, almost serene, about the soft light that bathed the room. But within her, nothing was serene. There was no calm, no peace. There was only uncertainty, frustration, and above all, a profound sadness. She wasn't preparing for a happy moment, a family moment. No, she was preparing for yet another ordeal. An ordeal with this man who, deep down, was perhaps never truly there for her. And that thought stabbed her like a cold blade. The next morning arrived faster than she had imagined. At the appointed time, she dressed hurriedly, trying to conceal her emotions behind a mask of calm. The morning sun bathed the courtyard in soft light, a stark contrast to the invisible tensions hanging in the air. The black car pulled up in front of the house. Ryse, who had been sitting in the living room since dawn, could already feel her heart racing. She knew this day was important: the three-month u

Nigel froze, surprised, and stepped back slightly, a look of confusion creeping across his face. He wasn't used to her reacting like this. She was always affectionate, always ready to support him, even after their arguments. But now, something was different. The air between them was becoming colder, more tense."Eloise... what's wrong?" he asked, his voice betraying the beginnings of anxiety. "Why are you acting like this?"Eloise stood up slowly, crossing her arms over her chest in a defensive gesture. She looked him up and down, her eyes shining with frustration."You don't understand, do you? I know what you're doing, Nigel. I know how you feel about her, that... omega. You haven't stopped avoiding me since you brought her into this house." And don't tell me it's not true, that you're not attracted to her, because I can see perfectly well how you're acting.Nigel's heart raced at these words. Eloise knew. She knew everything. He had thought he could hide his emotions, keep it all t

“It’s easy for you, isn’t it? To control everything? To decide what’s right and what’s wrong? But do you really think I’m going to just sit here and shut up and accept everything you tell me? The truth is, you’re manipulating me just like you manipulate everyone else. And I’m not going to be your plaything, Nigel,” she said, her voice growing increasingly firm.He straightened slowly, and for a moment, he seemed to hesitate. But his anger quickly took over, and he moved even closer to her, almost facing her like a predator.“Don’t talk like that. You don’t know anything about me, Ryse. Not a thing. And I don’t have to justify myself to you,” he added, lowering his eyes, his voice becoming harsher. The words he spoke were sharp, like well-honed knives. Ryse felt a sharp pain, but she pushed it away. She knew all he wanted was to dominate her, humiliate her, make her feel inferior. But she wouldn't let him."You don't have to speak to me like that, Nigel. And I'm not going to stand here

The housekeeper, ever so devoted, looked up from her work when he entered. She seemed to have been expecting his return.“Mr. Harris, are you all right?” she asked, her gaze scrutinizing his tense features, as if she could sense his state of mind.He nodded, though his expression was far from convincing. He had no desire to talk about what had just happened. No desire to share his discomfort with anyone else. He wasn’t even sure he could look at himself in a mirror at that moment.“Yes, everything’s fine,” he replied in an almost monotone voice, before sitting down on one of the gray velvet sofas. He exhaled deeply, trying to collect his thoughts. This was no time to let guilt or confusion overwhelm him. He was a man of action. An alpha, a leader. He had made his decisions, and whatever happened, he had to face the consequences. And Ryse… She would eventually accept her place. It was only a matter of time. He had resigned himself to it. He had never chosen this situation, but he had t

A wave of vaginal fluid gushed from Ryse's vagina, spreading across Nigel's satisfied face as he reaped his reward. When he finished, he sat up, towering over her. He watched her, awestruck by the sheer pleasure he alone was responsible for. Ryse saw pride and satisfaction in his eyes. Silently, she ran her limp hand over his chest, slowly tracing his abs before stopping at the hem of his black boxer shorts, where she could easily admire a huge bulge hardened by desire and arousal.A few moments later, he moved away from her, got out of bed, and pulled off his underwear. His erect penis sprang free. Propped up on her elbows, she gazed at him hungryly, running her impatient tongue over her lower lip."What do you want now?" “I want you. Nigel. Only you,” she said, her eyes clouded with desire. With his large, strong hands, he then brought his pelvis closer to his erect penis, which he held firmly in his hand. Gently, he began to insert it into her opening, but her breath caught in her

She placed the camera back on the table and got up to go into her garden. She wanted to enjoy this little corner of paradise, even though, deep down, she knew it was just a gilded cage. The sun was slowly setting, painting the sky a golden hue, as Nigel finally arrived home. The morning air had given way to a heavy heat, but it was the coolness of the garden, seemingly cut off from the rest of the world, that welcomed Ryse, sitting quietly on the bench under the cherry tree. Her eyes were closed, absorbed by the sweet fragrance of the blossoms that filled the air, but it only took her a moment to sense the car approaching. The driver parked near the entrance, and Nigel got out without a word, observing the garden, his eyes briefly resting on Ryse before looking away. He had never really liked this place, but he was forced to admit that the transformation was almost perfect. The garden seemed to offer Ryse a freedom she would never have had in the main house. He wasn't free, but he did
