Kaelen's POV

She looked at me. No traces of anger on her face, not even a frown.

"I want to go home," she stated.

"Why?" I asked her.

"Nothing is wrong," she replied. "I just want to go back to my dorm."

"Please tell me what's going on," I tried again.

"Nothing. Everything is perfectly fine," she responded. "I want to go back to my dorm."

I stared at her for a few seconds. She was not giving me anything; I did not insist.

"Okay," I told her. "I'll drive you there."

I stepped out of the car, we

  • The second half he gave me    Date?

Elyra’s povI stepped out of the locker room and went straight to the main gym, trying to think about what could possibly be so urgent to have a mandatory meeting in just ten minutes. Kaelen had left the locker room earlier than me, so I went to the main gym alone.I arrived when the gym was already filling up with members of both teams. Wren gestured for me to come over to him from the middle of the bleachers."Have any clue why we're here?" I asked, taking my seat beside her."No clue whatsoever," she answered. "Talia thinks it has something to do with the changes in the tournament schedule.""Well, it doesn't sound like reason enough for an emergency meeting," I mused aloud.Mr. Halden appeared at the front of the room, flanked by Coach Iris and Coach Marek standing behind him. The room grew quiet as he lifted his hand."We appreciate your attendance at such short notice," Mr. Halden said. "There is an announcement that concerns both teams."Silence fell in the room."The academy h

Elyra's point of viewDarian was silent for a bit of time before he looked up and said. “Something happened between me and Veyra. Just once, and that is all. This did not happen on purpose.""Define something," I asked him."Come on, Elyra," Darian replied. "Do we need to discuss things in detail?""Yes," I replied. "We do."With his palms, he rubbed his face. "This was a mistake. I felt like you were pushing me away because of the hockey career. You were always training, always busy at work with your teammates. And I felt that you do not value me anymore, and she was just here..."“So this is my fault?” I asked.“That’s not what I’m trying to say,” he quickly interjected.“That’s exactly what you’re trying to say,” I countered.“Elyra, it barely happened,” he pleaded. “It was just once. She came on to me; I swear it, and I wasn’t really thinking straight. She is just my ex and nothing more.”I remained silent, just staring at him.“You’ve got to trust me,” he pleaded again. “It didn’

  • The second half he gave me    What he didn’t say.

Elyra’s POVI stared at my phone and read the text."I'm sorry I haven't been available. Can we have a conversation today? I will come to your dorm at about 9 PM."I had read the text twice. I did not know how to react. Especially with everything that has been happening in the past few weeks. My gaze was lifted from the phone.Kaelen stood in front of me, expecting my answer about his party offer."I cannot answer at the moment," I told him. "Darian wants to see me today. He is going to visit my dorm."Kaelen did not change his expression, but there was something lifeless in it."Never mind," he said. "Another time perhaps."Before I could get another word out, one of his teammates grabbed him by the shoulder from behind."Kaelen! Come on, we're celebrating, man," the teammate called, starting to drag him toward the door.Kaelen turned around and took one look at me before allowing himself to be yanked away with the other guys. And I was left standing all alone in the hallway outside

  • The second half he gave me    The first note

Elyra's POV As I left the final class of the day, with my bag over one shoulder, my phone started buzzing in my pocket.I reached into my pocket to pull out my phone, and read the text on it."Come to the ice rink. Right now." Coach Iris.I frowned at the text message. Something about this message just doesn’t feel right. I replied to her: "Everything okay?"There was no response.I looked at the phone for a second, then put the phone back into my pocket and went towards the ice rink. The walk there seemed longer than it usually would. I could only think of different reasons why she wanted to see me there. As I entered through the doors of the rink, I saw Coach Iris standing by the boards, hands on hips, face serious."Coach," I called, approaching her. "Do you need to see me?""Have you told anyone about your meeting with Ronan Vale?" she demanded straight off."What?" I exclaimed, confused."Did you or did you not tell anyone about your meeting?" she repeated, stern."No," I said.

"I'll drive you there."I stepped out of the car, went around and opened the door for her. She got in without uttering a word. I closed it behind her and got into the driver's seat.None of us said anything while I was starting the car.The ride was silent. Too silent. Every few seconds, I glanced sideways at her, but all she did was stare out the window throughout the whole journey.I took the road to the academy. After a few minutes, I parked in front of her dormitory. She unbuckled her seatbelt, and then stopped. She turned to me."How do you

  • The second half he gave me    His own POV

Kaelen's Point of ViewThe phone remained in my hands ringing persistently. The very second I spotted the letter "V" flashing across the screen, the little bit of warmth in me faded. She was still standing a few yards from me, observing me carefully."Who is it?" Elyra asked.I glanced at her and immediately made a stern expression. "No one," I said sharply. Her brows furrowed. "Then why do you look so serious staring at your phone?""It's not your concern."I didn't even bother to reply back to her. I moved past her, grabbed my phone from my pocket and made my way toward the front door."Where are you going?" she yelled from behind me."I need privacy," I responded without turning back.I stepped out of the door and made my way toward my car.It wasn't hard to feel the cool breeze brushing against my skin, however, I barely paid any attention to it. I went straight to my car, sat in it and locked it.The second I sat down, I picked up the phone. "What?"Veyra’s voice came right away.
