The office fell into a suffocating silence.

Lyra struggled to steady her breathing, one trembling hand pressed against her chest where the strange pain had vanished as quickly as it had come.

Kael stood several feet away, his golden eyes fixed on her.

The vision...

The silver-robed woman.

The burning kingdom.

The child with silver eyes.

It felt impossibly real.

Yet Kael had learned long ago never to trust visions. They were often tricks of witches or remnants of ancient curses.

Still...

His wolf refused to calm.

"She is our mate."

Kael clenched his fists.

"Enough."

"You know it's true."

"She's an omega."

"She's ours."

A low growl escaped his throat before he could stop it.

Lyra instinctively took a step back.

"I'm... I'm sorry, Alpha."

Her apology only irritated him further.

Why was she apologising?

She had done nothing wrong.

A knock interrupted the tense silence.

"My Alpha."

"Enter."

The heavy doors opened, revealing Rowan Blackthorn, Kael's Beta.

Tall and broad-shouldered, Rowan had fought beside Kael for over a decade.

His sharp blue eyes immediately landed on Lyra.

Then on the broken crystal glass.

Then on Kael.

Something was wrong.

"I apologise for interrupting," Rowan said carefully.

"The Council Elders have arrived. They request your presence immediately."

Kael's expression hardened.

"They can wait."

Rowan blinked.

The Alpha King had never made the elders wait.

Ever.

"My Alpha... they insist it concerns the succession ceremony."

Kael remained silent for several moments before speaking.

"Fine."

His gaze shifted to Lyra.

"Take her back to the servants' quarters."

Rowan frowned.

"The omega?"

"Now."

"Yes, Alpha."

As Lyra followed Rowan through the corridors, neither spoke.

Finally, Rowan broke the silence.

"What happened in there?"

Lyra lowered her head.

"I don't know."

He studied her for a moment.

She didn't smell like fear anymore.

She smelled...

Different.

Almost like fresh rain beneath a full moon.

Strange.

"I've never seen the Alpha lose control."

Lyra looked at him.

"He didn't lose control."

"He shattered a crystal goblet with his bare hand."

"...Oh."

____

Meanwhile...

Inside the council chamber...

Seven elders stood around a circular stone table.

Each wore silver robes embroidered with ancient pack symbols.

Kael entered without greeting them.

"You asked for me."

The eldest stepped forward.

"Eastern rogues have begun gathering again."

"I eliminated them."

"So we believed."

Another elder placed a bloodstained map onto the table.

"They've united."

Kael's eyes narrowed.

"Under whom?"

The room fell silent.

Finally...

"The Shadow King."

Every candle flickered.

Even Kael's expression changed.

"The Shadow King is dead."

"So history claims."

____

Elsewhere...

Deep within the servants' quarters...

Lyra sat quietly beside her small window.

The moon hung low over the forest.

She couldn't stop thinking about the voice.

"Mine."

Had she imagined it?

She closed her eyes.

Silence.

Nothing.

Just as she sighed—

A whisper echoed inside her mind.

Soft.

Gentle.

Almost like a lullaby.

"Do not fear..."

Lyra froze.

"...Who's there?"

No answer.

Only silence.

Then—

A faint silver glow spread beneath the skin of her wrist.

She quickly covered it with her sleeve.

No one could see.

No one.

____

Later that night...

Kael stood alone on the balcony outside his chambers.

Snow fell quietly around him.

His wolf remained restless.

"You're making a mistake."

Kael stared into the darkness.

"I've spent my life protecting this kingdom."

"Then protect her."

"My Luna must stand beside me."

"She can."

"She cannot."

"You're lying to yourself."

Kael closed his eyes.

He had seen kingdoms fall because Alphas allowed emotion to cloud judgment.

He wouldn't become one of them.

No matter what fate demanded.

___

The next morning...

The entire Black Crescent Pack gathered in the central courtyard.

News had spread overnight.

The Alpha King had made an announcement.

Every warrior.

Every elder.

Every servant.

Every omega.

All stood waiting.

Lyra remained at the very back of the crowd.

Confused.

Nervous.

Kael stepped onto the stone platform overlooking the pack.

The crowd immediately fell silent.

His voice echoed across the courtyard.

"Yesterday..."

"I discovered something unexpected."

His golden eyes found Lyra.

She felt hundreds of gazes turn toward her.

"My wolf recognised someone as my fated mate."

Gasps erupted throughout the crowd.

Excited whispers spread instantly.

Who was she?

Which noble Alpha daughter?

Which powerful Luna?

Kael's face remained cold.

"But wolves can be mistaken."

The whispers stopped.

"I refuse to accept a mate unworthy of the Black Crescent throne."

Lyra's heart sank.

She already knew.

Before he spoke the next words...

She knew.

Kael looked directly into her silver eyes.

"In the presence of my pack..."

"I reject Lyra Ashwood as my mate."

The world seemed to stop.

An invisible force slammed into Lyra's chest.

Pain unlike anything she had ever experienced tore through her heart.

She collapsed onto the frozen ground, unable to breathe.

The crowd erupted.

"The Alpha rejected her!"

"She really was his mate!"

"An omega?"

"A wolfless omega?"

Laughter.

Shock.

Disgust.

Pity.

It all blurred together.

Lyra pressed a hand against her chest as tears streamed silently down her face.

She had never asked for this.

Never wanted this.

Yet somehow...

It hurt more than anything she had ever endured.

Kael turned away without another word.

But as he walked back toward the manor, his wolf released a deafening roar inside his mind.

"You have doomed us all."

Far away...

Beneath the blood-red moon...

A hooded figure smiled.

"The bond has been broken..."

"Now the Moonborn belongs to no Alpha."

The hunt had begun.

The wounded were still being carried into Stone Creek when Eren finally spoke. "The Master doesn't have one army." Everyone in the command shelter turned toward him. Rovan crossed his arms. "Explain." Eren spread a map across the table. "His forces are divided." He placed several stones across different parts of the map. "One group controls a pack. Another controls a second pack. Some wolves are planted inside settlements. Others move between territories carrying orders." Finn frowned. "So they're independent." "They look independent." Eren pointed at the stones. "But they're connected." Aria leaned closer. "Through the bonds." Eren nodded. "Exactly." He drew lines between the stones. "The Master doesn't need to control every wolf himself. He controls the wolves who influence everyone else." Kael studied the map. "Alphas." "Alphas, betas, guards, healers. Anyone whose choices affect an entire group." Lyra remembered the battlefield. "So when those wolves are c

The attack came before dawn. No warning howl. No messenger. Only the sharp scent of blood carried by the wind. Lyra woke instantly. Kael was already on his feet. "Attack." The settlement erupted. Wolves rushed from their shelters, shifting as they ran. Claws struck the earth. Growls echoed through the trees as the newly formed alliance scrambled into position. Lyra followed Kael toward the eastern ridge. Flames were visible between the trees. Stone Creek. One of the three new sanctuaries. "They're attacking Stone Creek," Rovan growled. Kael looked toward the wolves gathering behind them. "How many?" "At least fifty," Eren answered. Finn looked at him. "Fifty?" Eren shook his head. "That's what we can see." Kael didn't hesitate. "Rovan, take the western path." Rovan nodded. "Finn, stay with him." Finn immediately shifted. "Eren?" "With me." Kael looked at Lyra. She already knew what he was going to say. "You're staying here." "No." "Lyra—" "If they're

  • The silver eyed omega   Chapter 94 : Kael’s Territory

By sunrise, the settlement had become too small. Wolves crowded the open fields. Families slept beneath temporary shelters. Injured wolves occupied the healer's quarters. Those who had escaped the Shadow King's control had arrived from three different packs during the night. There were simply too many of them. Kael stood on the ridge overlooking the settlement. Below him, wolves moved between tents, carrying food, water, and supplies. Rovan joined him. "You can't keep doing this." Kael glanced sideways. "Doing what?" "Collecting everyone." Kael's expression hardened. "I'm not collecting anyone." "That's not how others will see it." Rovan pointed toward the valley. "Look at them. Hundreds of wolves are here because they believe you're protecting them." "They're here because they're afraid." "Exactly." Rovan folded his arms. "And fear creates loyalty just as easily as the Shadow King's bonds do." Kael turned toward him. "That's not the same." "Isn't it?" Rovan's

The wounded wolf was still sitting beside the fire when Lyra approached him. Aria remained close behind her. The mark beneath the wolf's skin had disappeared from sight, but Aria had already confirmed what it was. A dormant bond. Something the Shadow King's forces had planted inside him without his knowledge. Lyra had broken bonds like it before. She had always believed the answer was simple. If a bond controlled someone, break it. But tonight, for the first time, she wasn't certain. The wolf looked up at her. "Are you going to remove it?" Lyra hesitated. "If it's controlling you, yes." His expression tightened. "And if it isn't?" Lyra frowned. "What do you mean?" The wolf looked toward the woman sitting across the fire. "My mate." The woman immediately lowered her eyes. "We've been bonded since we were young," he continued. "Not by the Shadow King. Not by anyone else. It is ours." Lyra glanced at Aria. Aria nodded slowly. "I can feel it." "Then you can tell h

  • The silver eyed omega   Chapter 92 : Rovan's Alliance

The Frost Valley message remained on the table. No one touched it. Kael had spent most of the morning studying the words. He wants you to come for him. Rovan finally broke the silence. "Don't go." Kael looked up. "You think it's a trap." "I know it's a trap." Eren shook his head. "We don't know that." Rovan looked at him. "We know the Master is trying to isolate us. Why would he suddenly invite us into a pack that surrendered to him?" "Because someone inside wants help," Eren replied. "Or because someone wants Kael dead." Kael leaned back. "Either way, we don't go yet." Rovan nodded. "Good." He pulled another map from beneath the first. "I have something more important." Kael studied it. Three territories were marked. "Independent packs." "Three of them," Rovan said. "None of them want the Master. None of them want to join us." "Then why are we meeting?" Rovan smiled. "Because they might want to stop being afraid." --- By aft

  • The silver eyed omega   Chapter 91 : The Divided Packs

By noon, three messengers had arrived. By sunset, there were seven. Every message carried the same warning. Stay away from our territory. Kael stood over the map spread across the table. Red marks covered the northern and eastern borders. Rovan stared at them. "Seven packs." "Eight," Eren corrected. He placed another message on the table. "The Frost Valley Pack closed their border an hour ago." Finn frowned. "Because of us?" "Because of what they've heard about us." Kael read the message. Kael of Black Crescent is gathering freed wolves and preparing an army. Any wolf who joins him will be treated as an enemy. His fingers tightened around the paper. "They're afraid." Rovan nodded. "Fear travels faster than truth." Lyra stood across the table. "And the Master knows it." Everyone looked at her. She pointed toward the map. "He couldn't stop us from freeing those wolves, so he's making everyone believe we are the threat." Eren nodded. "That's exactly what I would
