OLÍVIA’S POV

@isabelle_ Someone’s tying the knot today!

@rita_ What’s with all the “a”s and “r”s?

@isabelle_ It means this is gonna be epic!

@olívia_ Bankruptcy be damned, I’m getting my princess day, lol!

@rita_ Did you check the news this morning? Been online?

@isabelle_ What’s online?

@olívia_ Nothing you need to see, @isabelle.

@rita_ You sure it’s worth the sacrifice?

@olívia_ Got a better idea?

@isabelle_ I’ll take your place! Here’s an idea! Who wouldn’t want to marry Jorel Clifford? @rita, if you thought the older brother was hot, you haven’t seen the younger one.

@olívia_ Honestly, I’m not even sure which one’s hotter anymore.

@rita_ Wait, what? You’re falling for the heartless Clifford CEO’s charm too?

@isabelle_ He’s a monster. Treated @olívia like she was trash in his own house.

@olívia_ Honestly, that doesn’t even faze me.

@rita_ I’ll never get how you can be so sweet, so kind, and still have ice in your veins!

@isabelle_ She’s a block of ice… on fire, lol!

@olívia_ I’ve cried enough, and it didn’t fix a thing. Laughing at my own mess feels less pathetic.

@rita_ So you saw the news?

@isabelle_ What news?

@isabelle_ has been removed from the group.

@olívia_ Woke up to headlines that my future husband spent the night with *two* women (laughing emoji).

@rita_ Holy crap, that’s serious! How is that funny?

@olívia_ It’s my life, my rules!

@rita_ I’m worried about you.

@olívia_ I’m fine, and I’ll be even better.

@rita_ Jorel Clifford’s a jerk. He’s gonna make you miserable.

@olívia_ No, he won’t. He’s gonna fall for me.

@rita_ Are you out of your mind?

@olívia_ You think I can’t make someone love me?

@rita_ I love you. Isabelle loves you. Dad loves you. Jorel Clifford doesn’t love anyone.

@olívia_ My life’s been a dumpster fire, but it taught me a few tricks, trust me.

@rita_ Like putting up with being cheated on without batting an eye?

@olívia_ I grew up around prostitutes.

@rita_ So you’re gonna be one for him?

@olívia_ Everything a man wants, you get in bed, @rita.

@rita_ And you think he hasn’t already done it all? Probably had a twenty-person orgy!

@olívia_ What’s that?

@rita_ Twenty people, lol!

@olívia_ I like Jorel.

@rita_ He’s still a scumbag. A lucky scumbag who’s got your affection.

@olívia_ The wedding dress is simple but pretty.

@rita_ Did Dad pay for it?

@olívia_ Nope! Clifford’s secretary sent it over.

@rita_ They didn’t even let you pick it out? Those jerks!

@olívia_ I’ll admit, I made a few tweaks to the design they sent.

@rita_ What do you mean?

@olívia_ It looked like something from a 1930s thrift store.

@rita_ Oh, come on, you didn’t dye it, did you?

@olívia_ Of course I did! Since when does a bride wear cream?

@rita_ Did you see the invitations? Is that why you changed the dress color?

@olívia_ Invitations? I’ve barely seen myself this past week!

@rita_ I got one. It felt off, and I had a hunch you hadn’t seen it.

@olívia_ I haven’t seen a thing, @rita. Was it nice? I’m excited—send me a pic!

@rita_ That bastard put on the invite that guests should wear white.

@olívia_ So that’s why they sent me a pale white dress? Guess they wanted me to stand out.

@rita_ You’re joking, right?

@olívia_ Obviously! I’m good, not gullible!

@rita_ Phew! Had me worried there for a sec.

@olívia_ The Cliffords are in for a little surprise! If I ever get divorced—which I don’t plan to—I won’t get another church wedding. This is my one shot.

@rita_ You’re totally gonna divorce that loser.

@olívia_ I’m not wasting my dream of a church wedding by blending into the background. No one takes that from the bride.

@rita_ Love that! Score one for the Aberttons!

@olívia_ Jorel’s not the problem. He does whatever his brother tells him.

@rita_ Including splashing the tabloids the day before his wedding with *two* topless escorts pouring champagne down his throat?

@olívia_ Everyone deserves a bachelor party!

@rita_ God, he’s such a moron! Could’ve picked something the whole world didn’t have to see.

@olívia_ Jorel doesn’t know the meaning of privacy, lol. But I’ll teach him.

@rita_ I don’t know whether to feel sorry for you or him.

@olívia_ Why’s that?

@rita_ If I didn’t like guys, I’d fall for you, @olívia.

@olívia_ Why?

@rita_ You’re the kind of person who makes people hand over their shoes on a path of nails without even knowing why.

@olívia_ Compliment or shade?

@rita_ Sisterly love! Lol!

@olívia_ I’ll be fine.

@rita_ I’m not so sure about him.

@olívia_ You’re really not coming?

@rita_ I know now that Mom and Dad can’t afford my ticket. You’re marrying to cover the cost of that disaster of a dinner with the Cliffords that didn’t even work out.

@olívia_ I’m sorry.

@rita_ I bet Gabe Clifford didn’t even glance my way!

@olívia_ He’s a total jerk. Doesn’t know what he’s missing. We could’ve had a double wedding.

@rita_ God, you’re insane!

@olívia_ Realistic.

@rita_ I thought Mom was nuts—you’re worse!

@olívia_ Hahaha!

@rita_ Seriously, you never lost it with her, so you must be worse.

@olívia_ Wish me luck.

@rita_ I love you. Wishing you all the luck in the world. If you change your mind, even if it’s mid-signature, I’m here.

@olívia_ I’m not backing out. I know I can change Jorel Clifford.

@rita_ You’d thrive here in the States. I could hook you up with a job, some cash, and a fresh start.

@olívia_ And Dad? The house? The furniture? Everything we own?

@rita_ Let him fix the mess he made.

@olívia_ We had the best of everything, always.

@rita_ He lied to us. We could’ve at least tried to save money. Who blows their entire fortune on a private jet for a dinner abroad?

@olívia_ His heart was in the right place. He had high hopes.

@rita_ Like selling me off?

@olívia_ Chill! Cut them some slack.

@rita_ I might never come back, @olívia (sad emoji).

@olívia_ Are you happy there?

@rita_ Happier than you and Isabelle.

@olívia_ I’m gonna be happy.

@rita_ Even though I hate that jerk, I sent a little honeymoon gift.

@olívia_ For real? Where is it?

@rita_ Told Mom to slip it into your lingerie bag.

@isabelle_ joined

@rita_ How’d you do that, @isabelle?

@isabelle_ Never told you guys I wanna be a hacker someday?

@olívia_ That’s why I love you, Sweetie.

@rita_ Ugh, you two are so sappy! Go to bed, @isabelle.

@isabelle_ It’s morning here! Just woke up! (shocked emoji)

@rita_ Goodnight, sisters! It’s almost 1 a.m. here. Good luck, @olívia! @isabelle, keep an eye on her! Be her hacker sidekick!

@olívia_ Love you.

@rita_ Love you both.

@isabelle_ left.

  • The sweet revenge of a heartless CEO - Clifford Empire   A MISTRESS

    “No new clauses will be added to this agreement, Olívia,” I stated firmly, eager to see the disappointment on her face. “I’ll file for divorce,” she shot back, staring me down fearlessly, as if I were just any ordinary guy. “Do that, and I’ll destroy your family. I’ll take the house, the furniture, and make sure no one in North Noriah gives you a roof to sleep under.” “We’ll leave the country.” “I’ll follow you to hell.” “Don’t you have anything better to do than try to screw over my family?” “Oh, I do! But screwing with Ernest Abertton is my favorite hobby.” I couldn’t hold back a smug grin, noticing no trace of emotion in her eyes. “When does the contract end?” she asked the lawyer. He opened his mouth, but I cut him off before he could speak. “It’s a lifetime contract, Stick-Figure! It ends when one of us dies!” I savored the words like they were a gourmet dish from a world-class chef. “That’s not very fair, since you’ll get 20 years of freedom while I’m stuck with you fo

    “And the accounts?” “All frozen.” “But the house and furniture are still yours?” “We sold some furniture.” “What?” “For food… and to cover basic bills.” “And basic bills don’t include new dresses for Rose, right?” “Of course not! Poor Rose… she’s been crying for days!” “Is she missing me?” “No, she’s missing the furniture we sold,” he said, chuckling. “And the dresses she can’t buy.” We burst out laughing, but it hit me that I couldn’t get money from Dad to cover tuition. I’d have to turn to my husband. Gabe married me—he’d have to take care of me: college, food, staff, and… well, intimacy! We were new to this marriage thing. I’d have to spell out how it worked. GABE’S POV“There’s really nothing in the media about my wedding,” I said, scanning the screen in front of me. “You were incredible, Ingrid, as always.” “Thank you, Mr. Clifford. Honestly, it wasn’t that hard. Easier than scrubbing some of your brother’s stories, actually.” Maybe Olívia Stick-Figure was right—the

    I woke up slowly, taking a moment to register where I was. Oh, right—I’d married Gabe Clifford, a gorgeous man with the most stunning blue eyes I’d ever seen. And on our wedding night, he’d bolted, leaving me to dream about the passionate night that never happened. I glanced to the side and spotted the framed photo of Jorel Clifford and me, smiling happily on a cruise. “It could’ve been us, couldn’t it, younger Clifford brother?” I murmured, tracing his face with its dazzling smile. “I bet we would’ve hit it off. I promise I’ll try not to hate your brother. I swore to myself I’d never wish harm on anyone after escaping hell. And God heard me—He brought me to my father’s house. I can’t break that vow.” I stretched, my eyes catching the ring on my finger. I slipped it off, squinting to read the inscription inside. Just to be sure, I popped in my contacts and confirmed it was Gabe I’d married, but the ring bore his brother’s name. Weird. But if my husband didn’t care, why should I? M

    Gabe pressed a button, and the tinted partition lowered slowly, revealing the driver. “How long until we get there?” “We’re pulling through the gates now, Mr. Clifford.” Gabe raised the partition again and slipped his phone into his pocket. “Gabe, I want you to know I like Jorel, but I’m glad I married you.” He pretended not to hear me, but I knew he’d caught every word. The car stopped, and the driver opened the door. Gabe got out first and strode toward the house. I took the driver’s kind hand as he helped me out and gazed at the Clifford mansion—the place where I’d first met Jorel in person, where my eyes had locked with my husband’s for the first time. I was glad Gabe chose this place for us to live; I at least knew it a little. It could’ve been worse—he could’ve dragged me to another city or country. As I stepped inside, alone since Gabe had practically sprinted ahead to avoid me, I saw my suitcases by the door. My hands were trembling. I hadn’t eaten in hours and needed

  • The sweet revenge of a heartless CEO - Clifford Empire   THE VOWS

    “Finish this, Father! Now!” Gabe barked. “Do you wish to call it off, Mr. Clifford?” the priest asked. “There’s still time!” “No, damn it!” Gabe shot a glare at my father. “Marry us already!” How far was Gabe willing to go to hurt my dad? What had happened that was so bad? How long would it take me to figure it out and fix everything? As the priest droned on with words that felt like background noise, I couldn’t tear my eyes away from my gorgeous husband. I’d always had a thing for beautiful things—hot guys included. I’d never seen Gabe Clifford in a single photo online. I knew he was the CEO of the world’s biggest pharmaceutical company, but I pictured CEOs as old, ugly, and bald. Not this relatively young, intriguing man. “The rings…” The magic word—*rings*—snapped me back to reality. A tall, slender brunette, probably in her late 20s, stepped forward with a velvet pouch. Gabe snatched two plain, thin gold bands from it, grabbed my hand without asking, and slid one onto my rin

  • The sweet revenge of a heartless CEO - Clifford Empire   WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? (II)

    As Olívia and her sorry excuse for a father got closer, their expressions shifted. They realized I was standing there, not Jorel.I thought Olívia might bolt, refuse, back out because it was me. But she didn’t. She kept smiling, like this was the happiest day of her life.Her brown eyes sparkled under the makeup. Her lashes were thicker, curvier than the last time I saw her. Her lips, glossy and full, looked even bigger. She could’ve easily looked hideous. But she didn’t… even in that purple dress and absurd green veil.When she and her father reached me, I said, “Surprise! Change of plans!”“No kidding,” she shot back, making a face. “My groom got a lot shorter… and less handsome.”I laughed. I’d break her. I’d make her beg at my feet, cry rivers of blood. And in return, she’d hand me her father’s life.“Good thing we’re a perfect match, since you’re the ugliest bride I’ve ever seen!”“Where’s the groom?” Ernest demanded. “I’d never hand my daughter over to you.”“If you don’t, you’l
