The truth finally told

The next few days went as usual. Elizabeth got up, ate breakfast, read a book and checked her emails while browsing the internet. But today was different. Today was her birthday she was officially eighteen years old. Elizabeth woke up to the smell of breakfast cooking downstairs and boy was she hungry. Out of nowhere that voice she had always heard in the back of her mind jumped out scaring her right out of bed. “Happy Birthday Elizabeth! I have waited so long to fully be able to talk to you and now that your eighteen I finally can. Don’t be afraid my name is Rosie, and I am your wolf.” the voice told her making her jaw drop. What do they mean my wolf, Elizabeth thought to herself? Rosie gladly answered “Your wolf is your other half that all werewolves have. I’m here to help protect you and guide you through your life. I understand this is a lot to take in, especially since you were not raised by a pack. Before you ask all wolves belong to a pack yours is out there somewhere and I will help you find it. Your mother is human, but your father is a were. It is his pack to which we belong, that is until we find our mate then we shall belong to their pack.” You can hear my thoughts? And what do you mean my father IS a were, my father is dead, and there is no such thing. This can’t be real! Am I really talking to the voice inside my head expecting an answer from something not me? I’m so confused. “Ask your mother if you don’t believe me and yes, I can hear your thoughts. No need to talk to me with your voice I'm here in your head.” Rosie answered. Elizabeth ran down the stairs and wasn’t paying attention running straight into her mom as she was coming around the corner.

“Lizzy! Is something wrong? Are you ok?” Lily asked her daughter who was pale white and looked like she was in shock. A scared Lizzy asked her mother what Rosie suggested “Mom, are..are...are werewolves a real thing? Like do they exist. Can they be in your head? Was dad a were? Is he even dead? Mom I am so confused.” Lily dropped the plate of pancakes she was holding and looked at her daughter so scared, she knew she should have told her earlier, she thought this would happen her daughter is a half-blood. No hiding it now. The truth must come out.

Sighing Lily looked at her daughter tears in her eyes. “Yes Lizzy, werewolves are real. Your father is alive, his name is Jason, he is the Beta to the Moon Crest pack. I am so sorry I hid this from you. When I found out I was pregnant with you I realized I wanted to raise my child away from that world. I was hoping it would bypass you, but I’m guessing your wolf came to you today now that your eighteen and told you things I should have long ago.” Elizabeth shocked more hearing it from her mother than some voice in her head, wasn’t sure what to say. One question was on her mind that she didn’t ask Rosie “what is a mate?” she asked her mother not sure if she wanted the answer. Sighing again her mother looking more broken than Elizabeth had ever seen her took a deep breath. “A mate is just that, your soulmate, but to wolves a mate is much more. A mate is the person who completes you and when you lose that mate you lose a piece of yourself. I was and am your father's mate. Even though I am human, I feel the strength of the bond, and have also felt the emptiness since I left. When I left him to raise you in a different life, I left a piece of me behind. I can't even imagine what it did to Jason. I never told him where I was going or why. He didn’t even know I was pregnant with you; I knew if I told him he would never let me go.” Tears were pouring down her face hoping her daughter would understand and forgive her for keeping all this from her. Elizabeth didn’t know what any of this meant. She felt her whole life had been a lie. Was this why she was so different? Is this why strange things kept happening to her? All she could do was hold her mom and cry.
