I woke up to the sunlight falling on my eyes. I sat up, removing the blanket off my body, and looked at the watch. My eyes instantly widen when I see that I was a few minutes late for my first day on my assistant job with Derek Green." A tall and handsome popstar.

My mom worked at the signing label with Derek, and it was because of her that I got the chance to become the assistant for popstars like Derek. It was definitely an honor to be able to work with me and go on tours as his assistant. 

"Shit!!". I exclaimed and hurriedly started to get ready.

I brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and then quickly wore my clothes at a speed of light.

I finished dressing, and I came down to the kitchen for breakfast. Mom said she wanted us to have a meal together; it was like a tradition to always spend time with me in the morning before leaving for work. Mom's work had been stressful for the past week, so she barely has time to look after me.

 

"Good morning, baby girl." 

Mom hailed as she placed the bowl of chicken soup on the table. She hugs me afterward and then sits on the chair and starts eating.

"Good morning, Mom, You're looking beautiful." I checked out her outfit and smiled. 

She grinned back, concurring with my statement.

I was done having my breakfast. I excused myself and left for the office. My mom should be over there talking to some new artists the recond label wishes to sign. 

 

I came, and the office assistant, Monalisa, embraced me with open arms. She is mom's friend and has been the only person that can actually tolerate mom's excesses, and that's commendable.

 

"Sarah, do you want anything before I take you to meet your handsome boss?" 

She air quotes and smiled.

"Nah! I'm good, thanks.". 

I replied and then sat in my chair.

Being an assistant to Derek came with a few perks. And one of the many privileges was having my own office.

According to Derek, he wants his assistance in an office, taking care of everything.

 

Monalisa came back an hour later, and I was taken to the conference room. My mom had just arrived to the office, and so was Derek; he was just being brought to the conference room while we waited for him.

 

With the time we had, Monalisa had questions; she wanted to know everything about him, and this was actually the first time we have been this inquisitive to know about me.

 

Derek and his manager came in, and the conversation came to a conclusion. 

 

"Hello, Mr. Green, it's nice to finally meet with you.". 

Mrs. Monalisa stepped forward and said. 

Derek's offered a chair, and we all sat down to talk about his contract with the team and also my quick arrival as his assistant since his previous one just resigned without telling on any reasons. 

 

Mrs. Monalisa took a bold step by asking for a deal with Derek. I didn't quite understand why they talked about it, but one I knew was the fact that Derek kept on nodding his head at our every demand; the changes to his contact demand weren't steranous because he agreed to everything.

 

"Hey! How did it go?".

After the meeting concluded, Mrs. Monalisa went to my mom's office for the finalization of the deal. My mom is in charge of making sure that the artists are taken care of and also looking through the contract.

 

"Good, I think Derek is ready for his contract renewed by us."'. 

She replied to my mom.

I sat on the chair opposite her table and quietly observed them talking. And in their conversation, she informed Mom about my stay with Derek. In his penthouse.

 

"Sarah's going to be staying with Derek in his penthouse." Mrs. Monalisa told my mom.

"Really? I don't think her assisting Derek was going to be part-time." Mom turned to me and asked. 

Her question was directed to me, and I was allowed to answer her; though I didn't quite know what to say, Mrs. Monalisa once again explained to my mom on my behalf.

 

I stayed in my office for the entire day. I only had to come outside for lunch, and after I finished eating, I grabbed my purse and went back to my office. 

The office closed, and an hour later, I had to leave mom behind because she had important meetings and documents to take care of me.

 

Frankie, the nextdoor neighbor, came over with her congratulatory cake for actually getting a job at a good company.

Frankie and I went to the same college; she and I haven't been the best friends, but we talk only when it is convenient.

 

"Congratulations, Frankie". 

I collected her piece offering with a smile.

"Thanks, and what about you? Did your mom find you a well-paying job...?". 

She gave me the cover of the plate and waited for my response.

I didn't want to tell her of my job as an assistant to Derek Green, but she might not like the fact that I got only as a mare assistant.

"Not yet, but soon." I opened the house door and stepped in, but not fully.

Frankie grinned back, and then she left.

 

 

My mom returned from the office two hours later. I had already eaten dinner, and what was left in the pot was her portion of the food I cooked. I showed her Frankie's cake, and she was delighted to hear how much her crush's daughter had gone. 

No one knows this, but she has a huge crush on Frankie's dad, Mr. Alex, right? Every morning when he jogs past our house, my mom makes absolutely sure that he sees her doing her morning yoga in her tight and seductive yoga outfit.

"We should visit them.". 

Mom suggested after eating a portion of Frankie's cake.

"I see, you should go, but I need to go back to my room; I have a long day tomorrow." 

I excused myself from going over to our neighbor's house.

After all, it was late, and our visit might be a little impulsive.
