Callie’s head was still buried in her hands when she decisively made the decision to turn off her phone and ignore everything, she swiped at the lone tear dripping down her face with her index finger. She needed to get proper sleep and knew that overthinking wouldn’t help her case at all, she stood and grabbed the plate and bowl she had used, walked over to the kitchen sink and dumped it in. She felt too lazy to go to her room so she kicked her feet up on the couch and closed her eyes.

After a few minutes her eyes snapped open, she couldn’t sleep, she groaned as she twisted and turned trying to will her body to listen to her and go to sleep, it wasn’t working. Slicing pain equivalent to that of a migraine cut through her and she grabbed her head screaming out, it felt like they were ringing a very obnoxiously loud bell right next to her head, “Argh!” she cried out tears dripping from her face, the pain and ringing stopped and she felt like she was swaying. Her brain

Callie sat still staring into space her right arm over her belly. She had just finished half of the large pizza she had ordered and she felt like she couldn’t get any more in her. Her phone started ringing ending her staring contest with the wall, it was her mum. She opted to let it go to voicemail, she didn’t want to speak with her mother or start a useless conversation with her either. She thought back to when she was much younger and craved her mum’s affection, she would have rolled off a cliff if her mum had asked her to. She chuckled bitterly, “What a sad childhood.” Her eyes locked onto her phone’s screen which lit up with a text from her mother. “Call me back when you get this” she read squinting her eyes at the screen that was a bit of a distance from her. “Yeah right, pfft. Like I’d willingly subject myself to torture, I think not.” She shifted her eyes away from the screen and drifted off to sleep yet again. Callie opened her eyes and saw blackened walls, she lifted he

Asher headed up towards the attic in his house, he opened it up and a gust of wind blew through. Odd. The windows were closed. He’s eyes scanned through the room, the boxes were covered completely with dust. The he looked up, he saw it, the mirror. He hadn’t seen the mirror for years, it had been covered by a large brown blanket. The blanket was dusty, he had a very strong urge to uncover the mirror but he decided against it. He wasn’t ready, not yet. Asher stepped back, stared for a bit then went to grab cleaning supplies. He spent a good two hours getting rid of the dust, wiping, and airing the room out. He scrubbed and brushed till his fingers ached. He stepped back to admire his work. Beautiful, he did quite a good job as far as he was concerned. Asher stared longingly at the mirror he took a step towards it then paused. He’d leave it for now, he wasn’t ready. Not yet, he’d wait for a while. He went out to return the cleaning supplies. The moment he stepped into the

Asher sat atop a chair placed right in the middle of his room staring out the window, the silver hues from the moonlight illuminated the room giving the otherwise dreary room a soft glow. The window was the only source of light in the dark room. As he sat he folded his arms and stared straight at the window and suddenly, the moon started emitting a soft gold light becoming even brighter than before. Asher unhurriedly stood and walked to his window closing it and drawing the blinds shut. It had started and he wasn’t about to witness any other anomaly. He walked back to the chair and sat, waiting for something. It started, a sound, a very odd and terrifying sound. A low vibrational hum that travelled through the ground and shook him to his core, his arms gripped the armrest of the chair and he gritted his teeth, the sound was unsettling and very much so. He grabbed his head and winced as the low hum shifted to disturbing whispers and screeches that left him worn out. Then it stopped

  • The world I know of   Chapter Two: Obscure dreams

Callie woke with a start gasping for breath, cold sweat trickled down her forehead and a scream caught in her throat, she struggled to calm down, fending off an impending panic attack. She stared into the dark and haphazardly patted her bed in search of her phone. She remembered falling asleep with it on. She finally felt the phone and grabbed it lighting the screen up. 2:00am. The time read, she stared at the screen trying to will the sun to come up. She shut her eyes and collapsed into her bed after a minute had passed and nothing had happened. She had a very weird dream, the worst part was that it was horridly realistic and honestly quite lucid. It felt…real. She put her left palm on her chest in an effort to calm down trying to laugh away her fear but an odd sound resembling a squeak came out. She tried to analyze the dream to find meaning but it was too odd, way too odd. In her dream she was walking down the familiar path that was her street but her vision was a few i

Light poured in through the windows bathing the room in soft silver light. Callie stared out the window in a daze her mind overtaken by the email of confirmation she had received from Preston Arts, the most prestigious art school in the country. She thought about what to create, the confirmation email was just the first step, she held a folded fist against her chest as she twisted in bed to face her laptop the words PRESTON ARTS INTERNATIONAL staring boldly at her as if edging her to travel through the screen. She’d dreamt of this her whole life, well technically her whole junior year which was ironic considering she studied mostly science related subjects. “Tsk” She let out a soft scoff her mind reeling over the torture of attending grueling chemistry and physics classes, the only thing that helped was her intelligence, she was smart, incredibly so infact. She managed to keep her spot as top of the class without much effort. She still leaned towards art despite her smarts, h
