Chapter ninety seven: stories

Damien broke my mind into pieces.

He took the very last shred of sanity I had been holding onto for the past few weeks. I'd been dangling from it this whole time, grasping it for dear life and he had the nerve to appear in the form of wind and take it all from me.

As if the deaths we had counted weren't enough already. I was going to lose someone else.

He had mentioned that I would have the assistance of my men when stopping him, so it couldn't be Sei or Silas. Kaiser was probably out of the picture too, considering he was still too weak to do anything.

He was still a possibility.

Then there was Alexander, Valedria, Goliath...

These were all men that I was close to, but he had never said that it would specifically be a man. I just had automatically scratched out the women because I didn't know any to begin with. The ones that I did know were long dead. Sapphire and Daffodil.

The only other women I knew were Elder Norabi from the wolfpack, Alexanders girlfriend and the twins' mother,

I couldn't believe that we had been wrong.Valedria's suspicious behavior had turned out to be the usual hatred he had for me. He had not been possessed, despite acting cruel enough to seem like he was.We killed the wrong person. My voice box probably ripped somewhere from how loud I had screamed when I realized who I was faced with. It even started hurting at some point, and my high pitched screams turned to uneven cracks of my voice. There was no possible way that others didn't hear me, even if there was noise around the arena.Sei and Kiaser charged down the hall when they heard my response to seeing Damien, both of them rushing to see if I was okay. I lifted my shaking hand and pointed to Nazari, who now completely had ice blue eyes."Damien." I only said, making Sei stare at his father in disbelief.Nazari blinked, and the blue from his eyes vanished. They returned to their original brown shade. Then he stared at me, seeming absolutely offended by my accusations. "Who is Damien?

"Females and gentle-males! It is with great excitement to present the event that shall rewrite the history of our people as we know it. The event that we may only get to see once in our long lifetimes. The battle for the crown!"Loud cheers could be heard roaring throughout the huge arena. It was a stadium-like setting but was surrounded by buildings that had started decaying because of age. It reminded me a little too much to the famous Colosseum in Rome, except that this one was rectangular instead of circular.I looked around, and I was able to see thousands upon thousands of creatures from the high balcony I was seated on. They had placed a fancy throne for me at the highest point of the arena, that way I could get the best view for today. Silas and Alexander were already preparing for everything, so I couldn't see either of them earlier this morning. My heart hammered in my chest. I had no doubt that Silas would impress me today, but I was concerned about the other mission that w

"I can't believe you would do something like this! You know I can't, Akielia. You know this."I felt my head spinning, the sensation painful and uncomfortable. My stress levels didn't seem to want to drop.My eyes skimmed over Alexander, who had just finished hissing in my ear for the tenth minute since the fairy left our home. I knew that he was in a panic because he couldn't beat Silas, but I was honestly backed into a corner when I was asked the question that led to my response."I'm sorry, Alexander. It was the first thing I blurted out." I apologized sincerely. Even though the battle between Silas and Alexander was bound to happen eventually, I knew that I had called for it sooner than needed. Alexander ran both of his hands through his dark hair, his eyes shutting as he deeply thought of a way to escape this situation. I turned to look at Silas, who was relaxed on the couch without a single worry in the world. He knew that he would win. When my eyes went back to Alexander, he w

When I reached the middle of the woods, everyone else was already there. I pushed the heavy ice sculpture, the pathway slightly smoother because of my magic. When it was right where I wanted to be, I kicked it and it landed on the ground with a loud shatter I watched as it split into hundreds of chunks of ice, and Alexander whistled lowly when he realized who it was."Damn, and I thought we were supposed to be interrogating her."Valedria stared at the ice pieces and glared at me. "What is the meaning of this? We needed her alive and most certainly in one piece."I crossed my arms, "She tried to kill me. I had no other choice, and I'm certain that she's not involved with Damien.""How sure are you?" Alexander asked me with a raised eyebrow.I gave him a pointed look, "I asked he and she was pretty surprised to hear it. We can now conclude that magic did not cause this change to him."Valedria frowned and crossed his arms. He usually did that when he was about to start debating me, or

  • Their Human    Chapter ninety five: kill

I've had to kill many since I became queen. I wasn't the type that sat on her fancy throne all day and made ridiculous demands to those beneath her. I fought my enemies head on, being in the front lines of every battle.I have always thought that I was prepared for these type of surprises, but I've been constantly proven wrong as time went on.I stared at the night sky emotionlessly, the stars also looking down on me through the tall trees surrounding me. The soil was cold and moist, making my body stop tensing. I was surrounded by so much calmness, but I was anything but.I turned my head and stared at my bloody hand. There was a long knife wedged in my palm, right where my important veins were located. At that moment, I was so glad I wasn't human, or else I'd be dead by now.Footsteps approached me, making me grimace and sit up on the ground. I took deep breaths and watched as Daffodil slowly circled me, another knife being spun around her long fingers. She looked like a trainwreck

"Damien..." I said softly, completely shocked by this revelation."What? That human boy? He's been killing the supernaturals?" Valedria asked with a glare. He didn't seem to believe it.Kaiser sighed and ran a hand through his messy hair. "He's not human anymore. He's... sort of supernatural.""Impossible." Valedria hissed. "Becoming a supernatural happens in only three ways. Birth, magic and turning rituals. He was not born supernatural and I refuse to believe that any of our people turned him into one of us. They all despised him. He was an abomination to our kind. Just as the queen was when she was still human." Goliaths eyebrows furrowed. "So then that leaves...""Magic." Alexander said, his eyes rising to me.I looked at him in surprise. What was he implying with that look?"Yes." Valedria agreed with him. He also looked at me. "Someone with magic must've aided him."Everyone looked at me, and I felt my stomach dropping at the realization that they were suspecting me!"Hold on."

"It's raining soon." "I swear whenever something bad happens on this island it always rains."I felt myself tuning out of the conversation Sei and Silas were having next to me. The three of us were seated around a large rectangular table in our new estate. Alexander, Valedria and Goliath were nowhere to be seen, but I knew that they needed time to process the loss of their beloved. My eyes were stuck on the large sofa where Kaiser was laying still. After we had brought him home, we got someone to wash him and ensure that he was okay. He was alive, but just barely by the time we got home. The egg he was in clearly had no air in it, so it was meant to kill him. What laid that egg? No, who did?I've never heard of such a thing in my lifetime. A slimy green egg, one I could only imagine in cartoons I've watched in my past years. It didn't even seem possible at the time. It still doesn't to this day.Kaiser shifted, making me freeze, and turned on his side. When I realized that he wasn't

"Where is she?" Alexander asked me, hurrying over to me. I took a deep breath as he crouched next to me, his eyes softening when they landed on Sapphires unmoving body. Valedria and Goliath stood behind him wordlessly. They showed no emotions, making it difficult to tell what they were thinking. Alexander gently pushed the rest of the plastic body bag off from her face and placed his hand on her cheek. I briefly looked at him, expecting to see tears. He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss on her forehead, lingering there for a few seconds. Goliath sighed heavily and walked away. "I'm sorry for your loss." I broke the deafening silence. "It's okay to mourn–" "There is no time to mourn." Alexander interrupted me, pulling away from his mother. He pushed her hair back for the last time before standing up and walking towards the next exit of the cave, "Let's go. The killer got a headstart, but we can still catch up to them." Sei and Silas nodded simultaneously. Valedria looked down
