Damien walked in slowly, like a predator stalking it's prey. I did not know which prey he was stalking because I know it ain't me.
His eyes briefly shifted to Sei, who had his eyes closed. He seemed very relaxed, he looked like he had even fallen asleep. I looked back at Damien, seeing that his electric blue eyes had moved from the man and were now glued to my dress. He stared at every outline and curve of mine he could get his eyes on. At that moment, I really wished that I had remembered to wear a coat."Why are you dressed like that?" He asked in a low tone, still creeping towards me. "Don't you know that red is my favorite colour?""I'm sure it is," I mumbled, turning away from him. "Is there anything you need?""Yeah..." He said, appearing behind me. His arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me against his hard front, the warmth hitting my back. "I want you to take your clothes off and get on your knees." He whispered against my ear, rough hands rubbing my sides. Is he crazy? Sei is right there.I pushed his hands off me and squeezed away from him, making him groan in annoyance. Jokes on him, I was already annoyed the moment he stepped through that door."I told you that I don't want to do this anymore." I told him angrily. I was getting frustrated because of this. Everyday, he has to come to work with one motive, and that is to try and sleep with me. I do not care if I keep thinking about sleeping with him. My body may want one thing but my heart and mind are refusing, why won't he listen when I ask him to stop?"Stop lying, you want this as much as I do." He said, crossing his arms defiantly. God, it feels like I'm speaking to a child that refuses to obey it's parents."Enough, I said no. If you aren't here for work then please leave me. I was busy with something before you walked in." I said, standing my ground.Damien looked like he was about to explode. He looked absolutely livid. He opened his mouth, probably going to swear at me like he did yesterday. Before he could let a single word out, a loud growl rumbled from behind me, making the both of us turn to look at Sei.He was still laying with his back on the bed and he appeared to be relaxed but his face said otherwise. He was glaring at Damien and his large canines were bared while he growled, probably his way of telling Damien that he was no longer needed here. The Head Scientist shut his mouth and glared at me, lifting his hand to point at me."Fine, I'll go rail someone else. Just don't come crying 'daddy' when you're in heat." He hissed at her, stomping away like last time.I stared back at him in disgust at what he said. How could a man be so vile and disrespectful like that? Rail someone else? In heat? Was he really going to keep cheating on his fiancé with other women? Why won't he quit?"Pervert," Sei's soft voice spoke. "A mean pervert.""Yeah..." I said, looking down at my dress. Maybe I'm the reason for it this time. My dress isn't appropriate for work, maybe it gave him the wrong idea.As if he read my thoughts, Sei simply stated. "Dress pretty. Like you.""Thank you..." I said, tears slightly forming in my eyes. "I just don't understand what went wrong. He's never been so bitter or vulgar. Maybe it's because I told him I was done with what we were doing. He took it well, I don't get why he's still attached."Sei looked confused. He didn't know that me and Damien were more than friends at some point. Maybe I should tell him. There's no one else I could vent out to. Not Mica, I don't want to lose another friend. Not Sharlene, she didn't know about me and Damien. We aren't exactly on good terms either. There was no one else. No family, no friends outside work.Just Sei.So I sat down on the floor and he did the same on the other side of the glass wall, wanting to hear me clearly. I told him everything, from the beginning. How he started out as this sweet and caring man. How we were both just hurt and did things to stop the pain. How we got addicted to the pleasure. How I felt guilty and wanted to stop. How I moved on and became a better version of me, just finding out now that he hadn't moved on at all. I even told him that Damien was getting married. All of this, I tried to phrase in simple English so he could understand perfectly. There were some words that he didn't understand, like addicted or fiancé. I could see by how he scrunched his eyebrows together in confusion, then I would just explain it to him in a simple way."What a pleasure?" He asked me, scrunching his brows again."Pleasure is a nice feeling you get on your body." I tried explaining."How do you get a pleasure?" He asked again, his voice still so soft."Someone can make you feel it. Or you can do it yourself." I said, hoping he won't ask me how."How?"Uh..."Just do something that feels good to you, I guess."He thought this through and stared at his hand. He lifted it up and placed it on his head, scratching it. I almost burst out into laughter at his cute attempt to feeling pleasure. "You're so innocent, Sei." I said, chuckling softly."Sei innocent?" He asked in shock, stopping his head scratches. It's like with that one statement, I changed his whole world. I did think he had an innocent personality, almost too innocent for me to believe that he did everything he's been accused of. Murder, arson, kidnapping, molestation and a few more gruesome actions.Looking at him now, it's like I'm talking to an innocent little boy."Yes," I said anyways. "Sei is very innocent." He smiled at me, a dimple popping out of his left cheek that made me want to squeal and just hug him. He's so adorable! How is this man a threat to society?I spoke to him a bit more, though it was just about useless things. We weren't close enough for me to have to ask him about his family or all the crimes he's committed. I didn't want to push him away. Tomorrow, I'm planning on asking him to let me take a hair sample from him so I could run tests on it. I have to report back to Mr Hughes in three days time and I want to have as much information as possible. After my shift ended, I bid Sei goodbye and headed to the cafeteria for food before making my way home. Maybe speak to Sharlene if I actually see her.I walked into the cafeteria and was engulfed by the familiar smell of multiple meals and pastries. I wondered what was today's special. Walking to the counter to make an order, I greeted the lady that usually serves lunch. She looked to be in her sixties as her large grey afro was visible under the hairnet she wore. Her dark skin was full of wrinkles and she had the kindest smile I've ever seen. She was absolutely beautiful, just like her home in Africa."Good day, Mrs Zulu, how are you doing today?" I asked her. She looked up at me with her beady eyes and smiled. "How are you, child? I'm doing as well as an old lady can in this weather. What a nice dress, are you going to see someone after this?" She asked."Oh no, it was the first thing I pulled out of my closet.""How unfortunate. Any man would be lucky to have a beautiful woman like you. Just keep searching, you'll find that man soon, maybe even two men." She said with a coarse laugh, a cough soon following. "What shall I get you today, my child? The usual sandwich?""I'll have something hot today. Any suggestions?""I made mac and cheese, classic comfort food. I'll give you that then." She dished up the food for me and handed it over, giving me a plastic fork to eat with. I payed her and added in a tip as I always did, then made my way to the seating area of the cafeteria. I looked around the place, hoping to see a familiar face.Mica unfortunately wasn't there today and Shar was also nowhere to be seen. I sighed and made my way to an empty table, sitting down and starting to eat my food. I should head to Sharlene's office to go see her. We aren't fighting or anything so we should be able to talk things out and fix it.Then I could go home and finish cleaning that broken glass.I quickly finished my food and stood up, packing away all of my trash and throwing it in the nearest bin. I took a bottle of water from one of the fridges and took a sip as I walked to the Sharlene's office. I'll get there and apologize then we can be friends again.I finally got to her office and found the door closed. I lifted my hand up and prepared to knock but stopped when I heard the most nasty sounds I ever thought I would hear coming from Sharlene's office. It was a lot of moaning and screaming, followed by the clapping of skin. I knew exactly what was happening in there but it shocked me to the point where I just moved back.So that's why I haven't seen Mica today...He and Sharlene are getting it on inside her lab.I shook my head and turned around, quickly but quietly getting out of the area. I didn't want to hear any more of that. It sounded nasty and I didn't want to hear my friends making children there. With a snort, I made my way out of the building and went home."I'm not sure if I can do that, Alexander."Alexander had just given me the biggest surprise ever. Although I had cast a spell on him to give him a sense of hope and new direction, I would have never thought that he would want to stop being a vampire."Please, it would really mean the world. I want to grow old with her. It doesn't seem right if she's the only one getting old.""Why don't you just turn her into a vampire?"Alexander frowned at my question. "Being a vampire can really suck the inner beauty and innocence one has. That's what I like about her. I can't see her ever becoming the monster I am."I frowned, "You do realize what that will mean right?"He nodded, his gaze dropping to the floor. "I won't ever be able to come back here again.""Meaning you won't see your family again. Goliath, who basically raised you. Sei, Silas, Kaiser, or me."Alexander sighed, "I will always be grateful to father, Goliath, for being there when my own dad wasn't, and although Sei, Silas and I n
Hundreds and thousands of different eyes curiously stared back at me, the arena veering off into a nerving silence. I watched as Sei made his way to us and stood to my left, while Silas remained standing my right.I cleared my throat and opened my mouth. Although I didn't even know where to begin, I knew that there was a lot to cover."Greetings, to all... Mighty and small. Firstly, I would like to once again congratulate your new king." I started, giving Silas a nod. He smiled at me, and slipped his hand into mine.I took a deep breath, "Although I do not really know where to begin with this, I must explain to you all what has been happening around us. The killings that left many of us feeling unsafe, and families of the victims clouded with grief."So I explained everything. I told the honest truth about Damien, and how he had done all that he did. When my explanation was over, most creatures looked unsettled by my words, but it did not seem like any of the blame was directed to me
I couldn't believe that we had been wrong.Valedria's suspicious behavior had turned out to be the usual hatred he had for me. He had not been possessed, despite acting cruel enough to seem like he was.We killed the wrong person. My voice box probably ripped somewhere from how loud I had screamed when I realized who I was faced with. It even started hurting at some point, and my high pitched screams turned to uneven cracks of my voice. There was no possible way that others didn't hear me, even if there was noise around the arena.Sei and Kiaser charged down the hall when they heard my response to seeing Damien, both of them rushing to see if I was okay. I lifted my shaking hand and pointed to Nazari, who now completely had ice blue eyes."Damien." I only said, making Sei stare at his father in disbelief.Nazari blinked, and the blue from his eyes vanished. They returned to their original brown shade. Then he stared at me, seeming absolutely offended by my accusations. "Who is Damien?
"Females and gentle-males! It is with great excitement to present the event that shall rewrite the history of our people as we know it. The event that we may only get to see once in our long lifetimes. The battle for the crown!"Loud cheers could be heard roaring throughout the huge arena. It was a stadium-like setting but was surrounded by buildings that had started decaying because of age. It reminded me a little too much to the famous Colosseum in Rome, except that this one was rectangular instead of circular.I looked around, and I was able to see thousands upon thousands of creatures from the high balcony I was seated on. They had placed a fancy throne for me at the highest point of the arena, that way I could get the best view for today. Silas and Alexander were already preparing for everything, so I couldn't see either of them earlier this morning. My heart hammered in my chest. I had no doubt that Silas would impress me today, but I was concerned about the other mission that w
"I can't believe you would do something like this! You know I can't, Akielia. You know this."I felt my head spinning, the sensation painful and uncomfortable. My stress levels didn't seem to want to drop.My eyes skimmed over Alexander, who had just finished hissing in my ear for the tenth minute since the fairy left our home. I knew that he was in a panic because he couldn't beat Silas, but I was honestly backed into a corner when I was asked the question that led to my response."I'm sorry, Alexander. It was the first thing I blurted out." I apologized sincerely. Even though the battle between Silas and Alexander was bound to happen eventually, I knew that I had called for it sooner than needed. Alexander ran both of his hands through his dark hair, his eyes shutting as he deeply thought of a way to escape this situation. I turned to look at Silas, who was relaxed on the couch without a single worry in the world. He knew that he would win. When my eyes went back to Alexander, he w
Damien broke my mind into pieces. He took the very last shred of sanity I had been holding onto for the past few weeks. I'd been dangling from it this whole time, grasping it for dear life and he had the nerve to appear in the form of wind and take it all from me.As if the deaths we had counted weren't enough already. I was going to lose someone else.He had mentioned that I would have the assistance of my men when stopping him, so it couldn't be Sei or Silas. Kaiser was probably out of the picture too, considering he was still too weak to do anything. He was still a possibility. Then there was Alexander, Valedria, Goliath... These were all men that I was close to, but he had never said that it would specifically be a man. I just had automatically scratched out the women because I didn't know any to begin with. The ones that I did know were long dead. Sapphire and Daffodil. The only other women I knew were Elder Norabi from the wolfpack, Alexanders girlfriend and the twins' mother,
When I reached the middle of the woods, everyone else was already there. I pushed the heavy ice sculpture, the pathway slightly smoother because of my magic. When it was right where I wanted to be, I kicked it and it landed on the ground with a loud shatter I watched as it split into hundreds of chunks of ice, and Alexander whistled lowly when he realized who it was."Damn, and I thought we were supposed to be interrogating her."Valedria stared at the ice pieces and glared at me. "What is the meaning of this? We needed her alive and most certainly in one piece."I crossed my arms, "She tried to kill me. I had no other choice, and I'm certain that she's not involved with Damien.""How sure are you?" Alexander asked me with a raised eyebrow.I gave him a pointed look, "I asked he and she was pretty surprised to hear it. We can now conclude that magic did not cause this change to him."Valedria frowned and crossed his arms. He usually did that when he was about to start debating me, or
I've had to kill many since I became queen. I wasn't the type that sat on her fancy throne all day and made ridiculous demands to those beneath her. I fought my enemies head on, being in the front lines of every battle.I have always thought that I was prepared for these type of surprises, but I've been constantly proven wrong as time went on.I stared at the night sky emotionlessly, the stars also looking down on me through the tall trees surrounding me. The soil was cold and moist, making my body stop tensing. I was surrounded by so much calmness, but I was anything but.I turned my head and stared at my bloody hand. There was a long knife wedged in my palm, right where my important veins were located. At that moment, I was so glad I wasn't human, or else I'd be dead by now.Footsteps approached me, making me grimace and sit up on the ground. I took deep breaths and watched as Daffodil slowly circled me, another knife being spun around her long fingers. She looked like a trainwreck
"Damien..." I said softly, completely shocked by this revelation."What? That human boy? He's been killing the supernaturals?" Valedria asked with a glare. He didn't seem to believe it.Kaiser sighed and ran a hand through his messy hair. "He's not human anymore. He's... sort of supernatural.""Impossible." Valedria hissed. "Becoming a supernatural happens in only three ways. Birth, magic and turning rituals. He was not born supernatural and I refuse to believe that any of our people turned him into one of us. They all despised him. He was an abomination to our kind. Just as the queen was when she was still human." Goliaths eyebrows furrowed. "So then that leaves...""Magic." Alexander said, his eyes rising to me.I looked at him in surprise. What was he implying with that look?"Yes." Valedria agreed with him. He also looked at me. "Someone with magic must've aided him."Everyone looked at me, and I felt my stomach dropping at the realization that they were suspecting me!"Hold on."
