LOGINThe reaction from the crowd when they learn they have not one but three new alphas isn’t shocking. Some look resigned while others look like they just swallowed wolfsbane. The rest looked downright terrified.
I know one of us by itself is intimidating but when you bring in two more, people tend to shy away in self preservation. We’re all tall, over six feet, and built like a brickhouse covered in tattoos. The rumors that circulate sure don’t help either. In time, these new members will learn that while yes, we can be ruthless, we also care deeply for our pack and do everything in our power to keep everyone safe.
Only time and proving ourselves will have everyone’s tension slipping from their shoulders.
Draco is still angry about the missing girl though he seems more bent out of shape about it than I expected. I have no idea who the girl is but maybe she’s already made an impression on my brother, though it doesn’t seem to be a good one. He hadn’t mentioned anyone specifically when we talked over the past few days so I’m not sure what is going through his mind right now.
My main concern is making sure Ryder keeps his dick in his pants, which might prove harder than I thought by the amount of looks he’s getting from the women. Draco and I are also getting them but Ryder is the one I’m worried about even though he promised he wouldn’t cross lines.
I’d give just one day where Ryder thought with his big head instead of the little one.
Don’t tell him I said that though because then I’ll get a lecture about how his cock is not small and how good it is at making women scream. There’s just some things you don’t need to know about your brothers.
One of the many reasons why the three of us have never touched the same woman, separately or together.
“So that went better than I thought,” says Ryder, grinning at a group of women passing by. They blush and giggle to one another and I just manage to resist rolling my eyes.
The three of us are standing in a group, watching as the members around us talk to warriors to get their placements for the tournament. Even those who don’t train with the warriors will be participating so we can see how everyone will fare during battle.
At the Bloodstone pack, we make sure every person is able to defend themselves even if it’s just basic self defense. No one should be left vulnerable. Sometimes, just knowing how to throw a correct punch can go a long way.
“They’re too scared to speak up,” I retort. “They still think we’re going to decide to kill them all.”
Draco snorts and shakes his head in amusement. I arch a brow at him but he just waves me off. Obviously something in his mind is making him laugh. At least he’s no longer pouting over the missing girl.
Though Ryder doesn’t let it go. “Something you’d like to share with the class, dear brother?”
“Just something I overheard a member saying the day of the fight. Told her friend, and I quote, ‘he’s a fucking idiot who deserves to be spited by the moon goddess’ if I decided to kill them all.”
Ryder throws his head back and laughs and even I let out a little chuckle.
“And who exactly said that? I’d sure like to meet her,” purrs Ryder and I smack the back of his head. He gives me a sheepish smile and shrugs.
Draco turns his head like he senses someone, and says, “Well, it would be frosty who finally decided to show up and is currently heading straight towards us.”
I turn in the direction Draco is staring and I know immediately who he’s talking about considering the girl sticks out like a beacon. Her braided hair is a silvery white and skin pale as moonlight.
In a sea of tan, dark haired southerners, she clearly doesn’t belong.
Though something about her is magnetic. I’ve never met anyone who looks like her and when she bumps straight into Draco and looks up with icy blue eyes, my breath catches.
I’ve seen brown, hazel, and even dark green or blue eyes but never ones so light. She’s definitely beautiful with her heart shaped face and pouty lips. There’s no denying that.
He uses his hands to steady her and she flinches away like he burnt her. She takes a step back to stay out of his reach and I clock the moment she notices Ryder and me on either side of him. She looks back and forth between the three of us before I hear her mutter, “Oh fuck. There’s three of you.”
The reaction to us is amusing but I hide it behind a stoic expression. This is the girl who doesn’t know how to tell time and show up to mandatory meetings. The girl who’s had Draco’s panties in a bunch all afternoon.
The three of us unleash a bit of our auras, the people surrounding us looking before inching away from the power. Even with the small amount we let out, the three of us aimed at one person is enough to put them on their ass.
But not this girl. She just stands there, teeth chattering and shivering.
Wait… teeth chattering and shivering? It’s almost a hundred degrees outside.
I take a closer look at her and notice the blue tinge to her lips and look down to find her hands don’t look any better. While everyone else is dressed in minimal clothing, she’s covered from the neck down.
“Alanna,” says Draco. “How nice of you to finally join us.”
There’s an edge to his voice that would make most members tremble but she seems completely unaffected.
“And who might ‘us’ be?”
“Since you missed the mandatory meeting, let me introduce you to my brothers. This is Hunt,” he says, pointing to me. “And this is Ryder,” he finishes, nodding his head at our youngest brother.
“Three new alphas. How lovely.” There’s no missing the sarcasm in her voice. I feel my body tense at her tone. At the disrespect. I’m also a bit shocked. No one has ever spoken to any of us that way. “Well,” she grits through clenched teeth, “as nice as this has been, I gotta go.”
She turns around and walks away, leaving the three of us dumbstruck, unsure how to even manage this situation. Draco calls after her but all it does is make her pick up her pace.
All three of us exchange looks.
“Uh… what the fuck just happened?”
I look at Ryder and wish I had an answer but even I’m at a loss for words.
The second I feel my brothers enter the packhouse after the rogue attack I release the breath I’ve been holding since they walked out those doors. I normally don’t mind being left behind, knowing the two of them are more than capable, but this time, it took a lot for me to stay behind.Don’t ask me why because I’m trying not to think about it too closely. It only takes a few minutes before they’re entering the alpha office where I’ve been sitting and waiting for them to come back. I scan them from head to toe, both injury free but there’s a heaviness settling on their shoulders I’m not used to.“What happened,” are the first words out of my mouth.Draco grimaces and the tension that just left me is back. They both take a seat across from the desk I’m sitting behind, practically collapsing into the chairs. Thank the goddess they’re sturdy and able to handle the weight of two large men who are all muscle.Ryder is the first to speak. “There were only twelve and most were taken care of b
Allowing myself to get distracted was stupid but I couldn’t help myself.Alanna in wolf form is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, second to seeing her as a human in all her pale skin and silver hair glory. While I’m surprised by how much I love the way she looks, it's her attitude that just gets me. She’s pure fire and seeing her in battle just reinforces that. She's fast, lethal, and shows no mercy. The dead rogues at her feet are proof of that. The fight was quick and mainly painless. We didn’t lose any warriors but not all came out unscathed. I see wounds healing as fast as they can. I look over at Alanna, who is currently speaking with Kace, and notice she’s clear of any marks. The oversized shirt she’s wearing is very distracting. The rogues that so stupidly attacked are now all dead, piled into a mountain of flesh and bone ready to be set ablaze. A warrior is counting, making sure all twelve bodies are accounted for. The wrinkle between his brow has me worried.“Is there
Ryder and I race out of the packhouse, leaving Hunt behind. I could tell he really wanted to come, which is unlike him, but we decided one of us had to stay back in case something happened. If Ryder and I were hurt or killed, at least one of us would still be around to run the pack.Hunt is always our obvious choice since he’s the brains behind pack operations so I’m pretty surprised by how badly he wanted to come with us today. He’s a good fighter but his brain is more important than his brawn. That’s what Ryder and I are for. We’re the fighters.Kace made sure to alert Alanna that rogues were coming in her direction. After watching her fight Derrick, the giant warrior, I know not to worry about her but for some odd reason, I still am. What if they get far enough and ambush her while she’s all alone?I don’t like the thought of that so I shift into my wolf form and push harder.A mindlink from Kace comes through. “Nina is also at Alanna’s house but Alanna left her locked in and told
My brothers and I have spent the past few days in either meetings about the pack or looking for the book Emmett told us about. So far, the meetings have gone well. As for the book? No luck. This coming full moon in a week's time, all three of us plan to travel back to Bloodstone for the celebration then next month, we’ll combine the two packs and celebrate together and hopefully members from both will find mates. If it weren’t for inviting Alpha Keene from the Nightshade pack and his members to have a party and see if any of our people were mates, I’d stay here.I’m a little sad to be leaving for this full moon. I’ve been ready for a mate for a while now and am really looking forward to meeting her but I keep reminding myself that if she really is here, then I can wait one more month. What’s a month in the face of our whole lives?I’ve met most of the women in the pack but I haven’t really felt much of a connection to any of them and that worries me. I know the mate bond doesn’t click
“Mates?” I croak, then clear my throat. “I uh… guess that’ll be good for some people.”She cocks her head, eyeing me warily. “You don’t sound too excited about that.”I scoff. “Why should I be? Even if I did find a mate, they’d just reject me on the spot anyway.” I level her with a look as I cross my arms across my chest. “We’ve talked about this before. You know a mate just isn’t for me.”I’ve been dreading the idea of a mate since I learned what they are and I realized how my pack looked at me. I know whoever is unlucky enough to be tied to me will reject me without a second thought to our bond. I’ve been lucky so far, remaining mateless, but I know it’s only a matter of time before I’m faced with the heart breaking pain of a mate bond breaking.Nina’s face falls and I hate the look of pity on it. “Alanna,” she says softly. “You don’t know that. They say the mate bond is really strong. I’m sure your mate will at least give you a chance.”I shake my head. “I don’t want someone to onl
It’s been three days since the tournament and I’ve managed to avoid everyone, even the triplet alphas, and it feels like nothing short of a miracle. I’ve had a few mindlinks from Kace regarding pack business and my new training level but that’s about it.Top tier level. Color me shocked.I already knew I’d be placed on the highest team with my performance against Derrick. I’ve always been a good fighter, taking to it naturally the moment I was finally allowed to begin training. I’ll never be the strongest but my smaller human stature and speed make me a tough opponent. Then there’s my wolf which the triplets haven’t even seen yet. She’s a bloodthirsty girl who refuses to quit. We may have ice shooting from us without permission but we’ve got fiery personalities. As for the pack business, training is set to begin tomorrow and I’m dreading it. While I’ve been feeling better since my little explosion in the forest, I’m still on edge just endlessly worrying about what to expect when I set
