Let Me Explain

“I think he’s my mate, I don't know how I have two mates though. And why now?”, I said quickly my voice quivering.

Jack held me closer, rubbing my back to calm me down. I knew he hated when I cried, when we were children he’d always manage to make me feel better, he would always tell me that I had him and that he would take care of me. Just then his mother Mariana walked in.

“I think I can explain”, she looked at everyone.

“Sorry I’m late, but my visions took a bit longer this morning and not to mention, I’m as big as this house.

My aunt Mariana walked in, her face glowing from pregnancy.

“Mom explain this to us please”, Jack said. He wasn't mad, he was confused, even more than I was.

My aunt turned towards me, “Sweetheart, how are you feeling? Are you okay?”, she asked as she gave me a big hug.

“I’m confused, but I felt the sparks, I know that Trent is my mate too”, I looked down, embarrassed.

“This isn't your fault baby, we’ll figure this out okay?”, Jack said sweetly to me as he lifted my face and gave me one of his beautiful smiles.

“I’m sure you are sweetheart, let’s have a seat and talk in the sitting room”, my aunt gestured to the couch and highback seats.

My fathers looked murderous, they had known for years now that Jack was my mate, but hearing that their little girl has another mate, well I can't imagine how their feeling. Both my mother’s sat on my dads laps, I knew they were trying to keep them and their Lycan’s calm.

“Lee will be here in a minute with Theo and Jocelyn”, Mariana said.

Trent looked at me longingly, Jack nodded at him, giving him permission to sit by us. I sat in between Jack and my new found mate. Lyla purred, she was content sitting next to both of our mates. My chest made a purring vibration, I could feel my cheeks heating up in embarrassment. Jack smiled at me and Trent gave me a sexy smirk.

Uncle Lee walked in with Trent’s parents, “What did you do this time boy?”, his dad quickly asked.

Trent was a playboy and was known to get into trouble from time to time. Trent looked down, “Theo have a seat”, my dad Xander said to his friend.

“Trent has done nothing wrong, come sit Jos”, my mom reassured his parents.

Theo however did not look convinced and I knew Trent was feeling overwhelmed by everyone in the room, especially since my dads, my brothers, and apparently my uncle and body guard Shane stared him down.

Instinctively I grabbed Trent’s hand in mine to calm him down, he smiled gratefully. His parents looked at our interlaced hands, confusion was all over their face, I felt my face heat up again. “It seems Trent is our brother now”, my idiot brother Adonis said.

“Enough!”, roared our fathers at the same time, shutting him up.

I love my brothers, but they can be annoying, always hovering over me.

“Let me explain”, Mariana said, getting everyones attention.

“When Selene was pregnant with Loralei I had a vision, I have known for many years now that Trent was fated to Loralei. Now before you start to question me, I’m the head advisor to Andora, my gift of sight is one of the most challenging gifts to have. I have to make decisions on who I can tell my visions to, what disasters to prevent, and so on and so forth. I can't and will not do anything to jeopardize the future. So yes, no one knew but me”, she said.

Everyone nodded in understanding, having the gift of sight seemed more like a burden to me. I can’t imagine the things my mate has seen but can do nothing except warn a person or keep it to himself. Jocelyn looked at me and smiled, she looked happy, Theo however looked disappointed, not at me but at his son.

“When I was pregnant with Jack, I had a vision that he was also Loralei’s mate, I was confused as well. How can two different children be mated to the same person. Well as the years went by I’ve seen a lot, Loralei is a hybrid. Lycan and Mermaid, two royals of two different species, so the short answer is Jack is her lycan Lyla’s fated mate and Trent is Loralei’s mermaids fated mate. Lyla will feel bonded to both men, because Loralei you, your Lycan, and Mermaid are all one. You connect them, they live in you”, Mariana explained.

After a few seconds, she continued. “Now why does she have two mates? I’m sure you’re all wondering. The Moon Goddess explained to me that Loralei, being a female Alpha Lycan and Royal Mermaid gave her two mates. That we’ll all understand soon”, my aunt explained to everyone.

“Lennox I can feel your unease, no you do not have another mate”, Mariana said flatly.

“Oh thank the goddess, Ava would not have been happy”, he said.

Everyone shook their head in amusement at him, I couldn't help but giggle. Of course leave it to me to have two freaking mates.

Jack POV

I was shocked to hear all of this and my mother knew. I understood why she couldn't say anything, but wow. I like Trent, we grew up together, I liked his brother Charlie more. Trent was a playboy who has slept with most of the unmated girls our age, along with Adonis. I know that Loralei is not happy about that, I can feel her emotions, it hurts her that he didn't wait for his mate.

Trent, Adonis, and their friend Kyle are best friends. We all hung out on occasion, but Ares and I were more laid back, we hung out with Loralei, Lennox and Ava. We have been waiting for our mates. I knew that Trent had a lot of groveling to do, our mate will not forgive him that easily.

Our mate, that’s something I’d never thought would come out of my mouth. I felt no jealousy towards him though, I looked at my beautiful Lei, she held on to both of our hands. I knew she was scared, nervous, and confused. But we’d get through this, she’s my stars and my moon, my everything.

“Baby, everything will be okay, this doesn't change anything, I love you so much”, I mind linked her.

I knew that she was worried about my feelings, but the Moon Goddess knows what she’s doing.

“You promise?”, she asked. “I didn't know Jack, I swear-“, I cut her off.

“Baby, I promise, I know that you didn't know, but we can't ignore the fates my love. I love you and I will marry you soon”, I told her with finality.

I didn't want her to worry, besides I’m planning on proposing tonight to my girls, Loralei and Lyla are the other half of my soul.

“I love you so much”, she answered shyly.

She looked up at me and I winked at her, her cheeks turning red. I loved how shy she was, she is perfection. Marlo growled lowly, he loved the way her cheeks would heat up.

“I will be marking her tonight”, Marlo said matter of factly.

“We sure are buddy, after we put that pretty little ring we bought on her finger”, I told him.

Marlo and I were absolutely in love with our mate. I have loved her since we were children, I somehow knew that she was always going to be mine. When it thundered during storms, I would teleport to her, I knew she hated thunder. I would watch her sleep as I held her. She is all I have ever wanted and needed. Now that Trent is her mate too, looks like I will be pumping as much of my seed as I can into her tonight. I had her first, she’ll carry my babies first.

I was not jealous, but I am dominant and she’ll know it tonight. I couldn't wait to be inside of my love.

Back To The Sitting Room

After Mariana finished her explanation, we all took a few minutes to process what was said. I looked at my dads, they were not to thrilled. I knew it wasn't because I had another mate. They had two mates as well, it was the fact that Trent was my mate. It’s no secret that Trent is a playboy and has gotten into trouble. Trent had a lot to atone for, this was going to be a long night.

“Everyone except for Loralei’s mates, their parents, and my mates out of the room”, Xander commanded.

He wanted to talk to Trent, Jack, and Loralei in front of their parents. Adonis was about to protest, but one look from Xavier had him walking quickly out the room.

“I’m going to be honest, this was unexpected”, Xander pinched the bridge of his nose.

Xavier was trying to calm his Lycan down, “Trent, I have watched you grow up, you are the best tracker we’ve ever had, but you’re a playboy and our daughter-”, Xavier stopped mid sentence. He didn't want to disrespect his close friend, Theo.

“Trent, you’re a whore, I know that, the Alpha’s know it, hell your mate knows it”, Theo said, finishing Xavier’s thought.

He was damn proud of his son, but he knew his son was no angel. He knows that Trent would get into trouble and he knew of his playthings. Jocelyn rubbed her mates back to calm him down, unlike the men who saw Trent as this bad boy, she knows who her son really is. She raised a good kid, he is strong and loyal, and she knows that he acts out because people expect him to be just like his father.

Trent lowered his head, he felt ashamed of his past actions, he knows that Loralei is to good for him.

“Trent, how do you feel about being mated to our daughter?”, Selene asked.

Selene knows that Trent is a good young man, he's just a bit rebellious. She also knows that his brother Charlie will not be happy, she’s heard his thoughts. Charlie is a few years older than the others, he is currently the number one warrior, Selene knows that Charlie is secretly in love with her daughter.
