Chapter 10

Author: Full of Luck
The craft enthusiast who helped Niamh assemble the space fortress had warned her that the large structure could easily collapse once the box was opened.

They specifically told Niamh to handle it with extreme care, as any damage would be her responsibility.

Beau nodded earnestly, placing his trust in Niamh.

Bridget, however, spoke sternly. "Ms. Jones, you can't do this! Beau's craft project hasn't been displayed or voted on yet, so giving him a spot on stage is unfair to the other children!"

Niamh responded with a carefree laugh. "Do you know Madam Fisher is a board member of this kindergarten? Or that Beau's father is coming to the auditorium today to hear Beau's speech?"

Beau's eyes lit up instantly. "Daddy is coming to school?"

Bambi could hear Beau's excited voice while sitting in her seat, and her heart skipped a beat. Her own eyes brightened as well.

"Daddy's so busy with work—why would he come to school?" Beau asked in disbelief.

Niamh grinned smugly. "If I tell him to co

Elara paused for a moment. She knew about Beau's situation. He usually couldn't sleep without her there.Beau had been a high-needs baby from early on. If Elara weren't constantly attending to him, his crying would go on endlessly. After Beau became more aware, he realized he was too dependent on Elara and deliberately distanced himself from her. But at bedtime, he still needed Elara by his side. How had Beau been getting through the nights without her there?Elara forced herself to stop thinking about it and said, "When we left the Fisher residence, I didn't take all our clothes with us.""That's what I told Beau too." Merida pouted. "But Beau said all the clothes you left behind got thrown away."Whether Harvey or Ethel was responsible for that move didn't matter to Elara. When she'd left the Fisher residence, she'd walked out with just her suitcase. There was only so much she could take with her, and she'd expected the Fishers to throw away whatever remained anyway.Elara con

Harvey's dark eyes were tainted with desire, becoming infinitely darker in the night. This was madness! How could he have such a bizarre dream? The scenes he'd dreamed about made him feel ashamed, even thinking back on them. Harvey grabbed the sheets and felt the dampness. He bolted upright in bed.Standing under the shower head, he took a cold shower, but the fire burning inside his body still wasn't extinguished. When he emerged from the bathroom, he walked toward Elara's bedroom. After the staff had cleaned it out, Elara's room had become completely empty. Harvey tossed and turned on the bed where Elara used to sleep. The bedding that was washed several times over had completely lost any trace of Elara's scent."Daddy."A child's voice suddenly rang out, startling Harvey. He sat up, bracing himself with his hands, and saw Beau in his pajamas. Both of his hands were gripping the door handle as he stood timidly in the doorway.Harvey snapped coldly. "It's so late. Why aren't you

When Mary finished speaking, the fury erupting from Harvey hit her face like a hurricane. Mary froze solid in place. Before she could react, she heard Harvey's intimidating inquiry. "Threw them away?"Mary's whole body trembled."Um..." Mary had served the Fishers for years and was sharp enough to immediately understand that discarding Elara's inexpensive clothes—the ones she hadn't taken with her—had infuriated Harvey. Still, she couldn't fathom why he was angry.Mary quickly passed the buck. "I was just following Madam Fisher's orders, sir."Harvey knew those discarded items could never be recovered, and if he made a bigger scene, it would certainly alert his parents. He also knew his reaction was somewhat abnormal, but he couldn't control himself. This was just like that stethoscope Beau had thrown in the trash, never to be found again.Along with it, everything in this house that was connected to Elara was disappearing bit by bit.Standing in the hallway, Harvey tried to re

Harvey reached out, running his fingers along the golf club. His mind was filled with the image of Elara gripping that iron rod and smashing the signal receiver.Plastic shards were flying everywhere, and she didn't even blink. It was an expression Harvey had never seen before, yet it set his blood on fire. The unmanned truck slammed into the test facility wall, sparks erupting as fire spread rapidly. He could smell the burning wreckage as he watched Elara approach him with the roaring flames behind her.Her long hair whipped in the wind, the edges singed and curled from the intense heat. Her face remained composed, her dark eyes fierce and untamed like a wild predator's, radiating an untouchable defiance. When Harvey was younger, he'd fantasized that his other half should be a woman who could stand as his equal. They would stand side by side—rivals and yet the most intimate of lovers.Later, he'd abandoned such thoughts when he realized how difficult it was to find someone like h

Angie's outstretched hand clenched into a fist, and she was about to bite through her lower lip.The next second, she let out a cold laugh. "I think I'm starting to understand why a woman like Elara would rather give up being Mrs. Fisher than stay married to you."Harvey's dark, narrow eyes flashed with chilling coldness when he heard her words. He warned Angie, "Remember to report to work tomorrow. If you skip out, there won't be a place for you anywhere in the Capitol."Angie's whole body trembled. Harvey, who was sitting just inches away in the car, felt like he was perched on a throne in the clouds while she could only look up at him from below.Harvey was only willing to tolerate her because she was useful to him. If she stepped out of line, Harvey would make damn sure she understood what he meant about doing whatever he demanded with a smile on her face.Angie screamed and stomped her feet in rage, but she could only fume helplessly. She'd never encountered anything like th

"You want a high position in Fisher Corp? What makes you think you're qualified?" Harvey's voice carried no trace of mockery. But that air of superiority, that sense of being above everyone else, was hardwired into him.He wouldn't stoop to mock the insignificant, but in his world, that's exactly what everyone else was—insignificant and unworthy of his attention.Angie's face went white as a sheet. No one had ever treated her with such blatant disrespect. She'd always prided herself on her overseas education in Melcina, her published work, and her reputation as an up-and-coming talent on Aempleforth Street.Yet in Harvey's eyes, she was worthless trash.Angie's face flushed from pale to crimson. "Then why did you invite me into your car?"Harvey's eyes dropped, his striking features set in stone, radiating the irritation of someone who didn't have time to spell things out for a fool."Starting tomorrow, you'll serve as my personal assistant. Clock in daily and work for Fisher C
