Chapter 4

Author: Eirlys
The week that followed was the happiest of my life.

My mother would cook breakfast for me herself.

My father would teach me about pack management in his study.

Even Grace became more "considerate," occasionally bringing me snacks she'd made.

I thought we had truly become a family.

Until that afternoon.

My father stormed into my room, his face dark with fury, the pressure of his Alpha aura nearly tearing the roof off.

"Amelia!"

I jumped up from my desk. "Dad, what's wrong?"

"You tell me!"

He slammed a photograph onto my desk.

In the photo, a figure in a dark cloak stood under the moonlight, talking to a man in a silver wolf mask.

The silver wolf mask. The symbol of the River Pack, our sworn enemies.

And the cloaked figure… it looked a little like me.

"That's not me!" I said immediately.

"Then why did Grace see you with her own eyes?!"

My mother walked in, her face pale, her eyes filled with disappointment.

Grace followed them, her head down, sobbing quietly. "I didn't want to believe it was sister... but I really saw her... The night the files went missing, I saw sister coming out of the study..."

"What files?" My mind went blank.

"The defense deployment maps for the northern territory," my father's voice was ice. "The most classified document in the entire Silver Moon Pack. It vanished after you were in the study!"

"Dad, it wasn't me!" I explained frantically. "I didn't even leave my room last night..."

"The manor staff saw you!" my father cut me off. "They said you've been sneaking out in the middle of the night for weeks!"

I was stunned.

I knew I hadn't.

But no one believed me.

"Mom, Dad," an idea struck me, and I pulled out my acceptance letter. "I've been accepted into the Elite Academy. I would never destroy my own future by betraying the pack! Please, believe me!"

My parents stared at the letter, hesitating for a second.

But in the next moment, my father ripped the paper to shreds and ground the pieces under his heel.

"The Silver Moon Pack can have a weak heir, but it will never have a traitor!"

"No!"

I stared at the shredded paper on the floor, tears streaming down my face.

I had earned that with countless nights of hard work, and now, it was all gone.

Behind my parents, Grace quietly looked up.

She looked at me, a faint, triumphant smile on her lips.

In that instant, I understood.

From the very beginning, she never intended for us to coexist. She had been plotting to drive me out all along.

At my father's insistence, I was sent before the werewolf tribunal. With Grace's "eyewitness testimony," the blurry photo, and the staff's claims of me "sneaking out," the evidence was "overwhelming."

I was sentenced to two years in prison.

I knelt on the tribunal platform, screaming until my voice was raw. "I didn't do it! Why won't you believe me?!"

My father sat in the Alpha's seat, looking down on me with nothing but disappointment.

"You're still lying, even now."

"Amelia, you must learn your lesson."

Soon after, the Elite Academy revoked my admission.

The Silver Moon Pack's reputation soared because of the Alpha's "righteous" act of disowning his own daughter. The pack's businesses thrived. Their stock tripled.

And I was loaded onto a transport, headed for the werewolf prison.

"Alpha?"

Chloe's voice pulled me back to the gala hall.

I turned my head, my eyes cold as ice.

"What little the Silver Moon Pack has left wouldn't even qualify them to be a feeder pack to Crimson Fang."

Three days later. The Pack Alliance Tribunal.Representatives from every major North American pack were present. The gallery was packed.Grace sat at the plaintiff's table in a simple white dress, her eyes artfully red-rimmed as she played the part of the perfect victim.Marcus, who was supposedly bedridden, was also there. He and Elara sat in the front row, their expressions a mix of anger and guilt. As I walked into the tribunal hall, every eye fell on me."Alpha Amelia of the Red Fang Pack," the Head Judge began, "do you have a defense against Miss Grace's accusations?"I didn't look at Grace. I simply pulled the first piece of evidence from my folder."I won't be defending myself against that accusation. Instead, I'd like to present new evidence.""Regarding the trial from five years ago."A wave of murmurs swept through the hall. The color drained from Grace's face for a split second."Five years ago, I was tried and convicted of treason by the Silver Moon Pack and sentenced to tw

The Enforcers' ruling came down quickly. The Silver Moon Pack was ordered to pay a hefty fine to the Red Fang Pack. On top of that, Marcus was forced to cede a crucial piece of border territory to us.It was the most mineral-rich land in their northern territory. The day the ruling was delivered to the Silver Moon estate, Marcus was so furious he coughed up blood and collapsed. The doctor said the shock and rage were too much for his system. He needed long-term rest and couldn't handle pack affairs for the foreseeable future.Grace had to take over temporarily. But Elara had raised her like a delicate flower in a greenhouse. Other than putting on a show and crying, she knew nothing about running a pack.In just one month, several of Silver Moon's major business deals fell through. Two smaller packs that were previously allied with Silver Moon took the opportunity to declare their independence. The stock price of their corporate empire plummeted by forty percent.Meanwhile, my Red Fang

A dozen elite werewolf guards dropped to one knee in perfect unison, their heads bowed."Alpha!"The unified cry was so powerful it seemed to shake the very foundations of the hall. The crowd of onlookers fell silent instantly. The color drained from Elara's face as she stared at the Red Fang crest on the guards' chests."Alpha… They called her… Alpha?"My father, Marcus, his pupils shrank to pinpricks. He stumbled back a step, nearly losing his balance."Impossible!" he snarled. "Amelia, who did you pay to put on this show?! You think throwing on a uniform makes you the Red Fang Pack? I see right through this pathetic charade!"Someone in the crowd chimed in hesitantly, "Yeah, the Red Fang Alpha is supposed to be some powerful, mysterious figure. How could it be her?"Grace gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. "Sister, you can't joke about something like this! Impersonating an Alpha is a crime you can be put on trial for!"Though her voice was laced with panic, a flicker of triumph f

The gala was winding down. I stepped outside. The night wind blew, and I looked up at the crescent moon.It was a moon just like this three years ago, on the day I was released from prison.I walked out of that heavy iron gate, covered in scars, with nothing to my name.Only Chloe had believed I was framed. Only she was willing to stand by my side.Bit by bit, we clawed out our own territory, absorbing the smaller packs around us.Three years later, the name Crimson Fang appeared for the first time on the list of North American wolf packs. No matter how hard it got, I never once thought about going back to the Silver Moon Pack. That home died for me the moment they sent me to the tribunal. In the parking area outside the gala, my custom armored Maybach was waiting quietly.I was just about to walk over."Amelia?!"Elara's voice came from behind me.I stopped and saw my father, mother, and Grace standing on the steps, all three of them staring at the car.Elara's face instantly turned u

The night of the party, the manor was ablaze with light.I stood at the entrance next to Grace, greeting guests in that hideous purple dress. The train on Grace's gown was ridiculously long, spreading out a good ten feet behind her, and her diamond tiara glittered blindingly under the crystal chandeliers.I wasn't even a backdrop; I was a ghost."And who is this? A distant relative of the Alpha?" an elder asked my father, looking at me with confusion. My father looked embarrassed. "This is my eldest daughter, Amelia. She just returned to the pack."The elder blinked, then chuckled awkwardly. "Oh... my mistake. My apologies, Alpha."I heard Grace's quiet snicker and could only clench the fabric of my skirt in my fists."And this is our Grace, a true genius who just passed the Elite Academy selection," my mother said on the other side of the room, her arm linked with Grace's, introducing her proudly to every guest.Applause followed them everywhere. No one gave me a second glance.I took
