Randy knocked before opening the door to the first office on the left. Bursting with anticipation, her bubble deflated when she saw what reclined behind the desk of the pristine office. They must have worked all weekend to clean it, but the amazing office transformation was forgotten as soon as Cassie's eyes beheld the new guy. It took everything she had to disguise her disappointment. He didn't look like the kind of guy one would expect to ride a motorbike. He wasn't ugly, but he wasn't by any means hot. Surveillance sounded exciting, but sitting in your vehicle, for hours on end, waiting for your target to make a move was anything but exciting. It sucked. Cassie sat in her van across the street from the Schmidts' house, bored as ass, for only a couple of hours, but the time dragged at a snail's pace. Tuesday morning went much the same as Monday. Cassie followed a jean-clad Tricia to the dentist and to the grocery store. Then she followed her home and waited. Just after ten, Tricia strolled out of the house wearing another sexy dress, this time red. Curiosity arched Cassie's brow. A black Camaro pulled up in front of the Schmidt house around two in the afternoon, snapping Cassie out of her surveillance coma. Shrinking back in her seat, she watched as Tricia emerged from the house, dressed as the floozy alter ego, and got into the Camaro. As they pulled away from the curb, Cassie recorded the plate number. "Finally! God, I hope this is the guy." Cassie pulled out onto the street to tail them and followed the Camaro to the Green Valley Country Club, just north of the city. Since she wasn't a member, she parked in the visitor lot, snagging a spot with a decent view of the road, so she could see when the Camaro drove out. Cassie kept her watch on the Schmidt house until just before it was time to go to karate class. She took off early, so she could park at the office and walk because she didn't want to risk Tricia recognizing the van. When she arrived at the karate studio parking lot, she walked over to Eryn's truck and got inside.Eryn was dressed in black yoga pants and a pink fitted t-shirt. Cassie sat alone in the kitchen, eating her drive-thru burger in silence. She scanned the room and released a contented sigh. She loved the Miller house. It was a spacious bungalow with a living room that had a stone fireplace in the center of the room that vented up into the ceiling. Furniture surrounded the fireplace to make it the coziest place in the whole world. The living room opened up to a dining room, just off the kitchen and the dinette that she sat at occupied a small corner of the trendy kitchen. Eryn and Ben recently renovated the kitchen, and the white cabinetry and black slate countertops seemed more modern than what you would expect a farm kitchen to look like, but it worked.
