Jared's Point-of-View.

I was Jared Lane.

Once, I had a wife, Yvaine Snow. She was kind and exceptional, and I really loved her.

I met her when I was 17 and she was 16. She had looked as if she'd just finished crying, her eyes swollen and her nose red.

At first, I hated the idea of having another person around the house, but she was so beautiful that I thought maybe having a younger sister like her wouldn't be so bad.

Most of the time, she drifted off into silence, her sadness almost unbearable to watch. Grandma told me it was because she missed her mother, so I started pulling her into games and teasing her to cheer her up.

Exactly as I'd hoped, she brightened and clung to me more by each passing day.

When I was 23, Maeve had left me for a foreign guy and fled to Melodale. I had fallen apart after that and drowned myself in alcohol, consumed by the sorrow of her departure and the bitterness at being dumped.

Grandma finally had enough. She told me not to waste myself over a pers

  • This Is Goodbye, Mr. CEO   Chapter 8

I assumed Jared would eventually let go with time. What I didn't expect was that after returning home, he slowly expanded his business to Flintlock. When I picked up my sketchbook and started drawing again, he was the first to buy my new designs. Every month, without fail, he'd show up outside my place with flowers or some carefully chosen gift, waiting the whole day.I tried persuading him to stop a few times, but he never listened. Eventually, I stopped bothering and treated him as if he never existed.Yet, I never knew someone else would be so concerned about something I had ignored. As my days in Flintlock stretched on, my relationship with Kielior grew closer. The more persistent Jared became, the more it seemed to unsettle Kielior until one day, he finally snapped. After packing a bag, he dragged me along and took me traveling. That spring, we went to romantic Strovakia and visited Castova in summer. By autumn, we were at Blossom Bay and Chantilly Peaks.Whenever Jared sh

"No, Yvaine… Please just give me one more chance." Jared's voice cracked as though he couldn't bear to accept what he was hearing. He stepped forward, almost frantically, and reached out to pull me back."Do you need help?"While I was frozen in shock, Kielior stepped in front of me and shielded me completely behind him.Something about the gentleness in his voice steadied me, and after a pause, I gave a small nod."Mr. Lane, I think Yvaine has made her refusal clear. There are many ways to show sincerity, but harassment and clinging on are the worst of them."Kielior's words might sound polite, but the sharp dislike in his expression was almost impossible to miss."Who are you? This is between me and Yvaine. It's none of your business." Jared's eyes narrowed as he scanned Kielior with growing unease."At Ms. Snow's request, I'll be looking after Yvaine and making sure she isn't bothered by jerks who can't move on."Kielior's last remark wasn't polite. Knowing Jared's temper, I

"Munchkin, let me introduce you to the son of my close friend," Mom said. "He's talented, handsome, and a thousand times better than Jared. Who cares if Jared's a jerk? We have a whole bunch of men waiting out there. With that, she dragged a striking man forward."Hello, I'm Kielior Hale," he said."Hi, I'm Yvaine Snow," I replied. After that brief exchange, Mom excused herself and left him to take me home.On the way back, I found myself sneaking glances at Kielior more than once. His face was almost too perfect, and for the first time, I realized that walking away from Jared meant I could meet men far better than him.Kielior had a calm, easy presence that made me feel comfortable. So when he asked me out for lunch the next day, I said yes.But I hadn't expected to find Jared waiting at my doorstep when I was ready to leave. He'd always been a little obsessed with cleanliness and looked polished even at home. But today, he was nothing like that. His clothes were rumpled, stu

Last night, Jared had had a chance, but he'd ruined it by snapping at me. Then, he'd stormed out and spent the night with Maeve. But it wasn't just last night. He'd never left her side ever since she came back. After Grandma Eleanor left, he tore through the house, but all he found was a single photograph of me clipped from a mock bridal photoshoot. That was the only photograph I'd ever left in the house.Jared sat in the corner, clutching it motionlessly through the long night. And that night, memories came flooding back into his mind.He thought of the day we first met in Lane Manor when I was 16. I had been quiet, withdrawn, drowning in grief. Then, like a burst of sunlight, he'd barged into my dark world. At first, he had really liked me. To him, I had been a beautiful young sister, a companion to share the house with.Even when Maeve abandoned him and Grandma Eleanor pressed him into marrying me, he hadn't minded.Over time, something shifted. My moods began to affect his

By the time Jared arrived at the wedding venue, disheveled and out of breath, I was nowhere in sight. Only Astrid and her team were around, quietly clearing the space."The wedding's over, Mr. Lane. What are you doing here?" Astrid's tone was sharp, almost rude, perhaps because she was too heartbroken on my behalf."Where's Yvaine? S-She…" When his eyes swept the room and failed to find me, his unease grew heavier with every passing second.A sharp chime broke the silence when a notification from me popped up on his phone. "T-That's impossible. I told her I'd be here. I promised…" His voice trembled as he read the message, refusing to believe a single word I sent."Yvaine, I'm here now! What game are you playing this time!" His hands shook as he typed his message. But instead of receiving my usual instant reply, his message failed to be sent.He stared at it blankly for a moment before dialing my number like mad."Sorry, the number you have dialed is no longer in service."…
