TERESA

"How am I supposed to rule anything without a damn wolf?"

That particular voice jolted me out of sleep.

I didn’t open my eyes right away. My body was still aching like it had been dragged across hot gravel.

Every muscle in my body felt so tender and my head pounded heavily.

My mouth was dry again but it was not just the physical pain that weighed me down.

It was the sound of Keller’s voice.

He didn’t know I was awake just yet. His voice was low like he was almost whispering to himself.

“My wolf is gone,” he muttered. “ It's gone! It just vanished like he was never there. Now, I can’t shift. I can’t even feel him like he is still there. There’s nothing. Absolutely nothing!”

He exhaled like the weight on his chest was too much for his lungs to hold. The chair creaked as he leaned forward.

He was still shaken by the loss of his wolf. I could hear him wailing and licking up his wound.

    TERESA "Where am I?" I asked no one in particular. The place I was in felt so strange and the worst part was my head was pounding like drums.     KELLER "You’re back," Teresa’s voice filled the air but I noticed that it sounded so shaky, but it was clear enough to reach me.
