Mag-log inEva's POV
When the final bell rang at three o'clock, I walked toward the parking lot. My eyes immediately scanned for Jason and Luke, the Alpha and Beta properties were practically beside each other so we would share rides.
Neither of them had any extracurricular activities after school today which meant I caught a ride with them this morning instead of going in my own vehicle.
They stood beside Luke's black Dodge Charger, Jason leaning against it as they spoke to the Third in Command's twin daughters.
I approached them, quickly walking towards Jason's side, and giving the twins a small smile which they returned. The twins had newly shifted, their wolves present in their eyes.
Both Debby and Claire had not yet gained full control of their wolves, having newly shifted they were still in practice.
Their older brother and our future Third in Command, River, had taken the next three weeks off school to follow through with his own training.
"Ready to go?" Luke questioned once the twins said their goodbyes. I nodded at him, and we all got into the car, I sat in the back, pulling my seatbelt around me as Luke raced out of the school's parking lot and down the road.
Our high school was located inside our territory and only a 15-minute drive from the pack house. The pack house mainly consisted of newly mated wolves, our pack infirmary, and the Alpha's spare office.
It didn't take long for Luke to pull up outside the Beta's house, the house I called home.
Both Jason and I piled out of the car and headed toward the front door. We climbed the short steps, the mansion towering over us, the white walls reflecting nicely on the black windows.
We walked straight into the house, Jason informing me that he was going to see his dad in the office.
I decided to walk into the kitchen, knowing Linda would be in the middle of cooking dinner. Linda smiled widely at me as I entered the kitchen, maneuvering myself to the counter stool as she grabbed seasoning from the cupboards, sprinkling it on generously to the spaghetti Bolognese that she had cooking on the stove.
"How was school sweetheart?" Linda asked as she walked to the kitchen sink, washing her hands, the soap bubbling up lavishly before it disappeared under the warm water.
I shrugged my shoulders, my eyes meeting hers.
"Schools, school," I began, my words made her laugh.
"It wasn't the worst, I have a math exam next week which I need to study for, but other than that, I'm fully caught up with work."
"School was never my favorite, but it’s your senior year now and it's nearly over. I know we spoke briefly about it before, but have you thought about whether you wanted to go to college or do full-time warrior duties?"
I sighed, my facial expression showing my uncertainty. I hadn't yet decided what I wanted to do; I was still indecisive.
"I'm conflicted still. I would like to go to college and have the experience, but I also want to follow in my father's footsteps."
Linda now stood opposite me on the other side of the counter, her hands reaching out to grab mine which I gripped just as hard.
"You haven't got too long to decide, I understand it's not an easy choice but both Jaxon and I will be with you, whatever you choose to do."
"Thanks, Linda." I appreciated Linda and Jaxon more than words could ever express.
I stood up, walked around the counter, and gave her a hug which she instantly returned.
"Let's serve dinner, shall we? Would you help set the table for me?" She requested as she pulled back from the hug, giving me a smile before ushering me into the dining room.
After setting up the table both Jason and Jaxon appeared, Jaxon giving me a huge smile and questioning me about my day at school.
We all sat there talking and eating, discussing our days and what our plans were for the weekend. Jason, Luke, Lucy, Kelvin, and I were going to the mall tomorrow since it was Saturday.
"You both have training on Sunday, don't forget especially since you both have next weekend off as Luke mentioned you were both going to Torey's birthday celebrations." Jaxon's tone was serious when he mentioned training, he was a very serious man when it came to pack business and our combat training.
Jason and I both nodded, I hadn't confirmed whether I was going to go to the party, but I didn't fancy doing combat training either.
"It's only for five hours, so hopefully it's not too painful." Jaxon laughed, pleasantly entertained as we all knew we were having training with Alpha.
The thought of training with our Alpha had my muscles tightening and seizing up. Already able to feel the immense ache and pains that would be occupying my entire body the following week.
His training sessions were tough and brutal. He would push you past your limit, to test your full potential.
"You both look tired, why don't you both go up to bed and I'll clear away the table tonight" Linda said, staring at Jason and me.
After thanking Linda for the meal, I headed upstairs to my bedroom, which was opposite of Jason's.
He decided to go back to the office with Jaxon, he had paperwork he needed to fill out to do with the pack house and wanted to complete it before going to bed.
I threw myself on my bed, I laid there for a few moments before deciding to have a quick shower before bed, knowing I would feel better once I was curled up and comfortable.
Moving into my bathroom, I stripped off my dirty clothes before jumping into the shower. Washing my blonde hair in the process before getting out and drying myself down with a towel.
I brushed my teeth, then walked into my bedroom, grabbing a pair of shorts and a top before crawling into bed and under my comforter. The warmth immediately made me yawn, my exhaustion catching up to me as I fell into a deep sleep.
I woke up to my alarm blaring loudly in my ear, my arm flinging in the direction of the noise, my hands smacking the snooze button before I turned around, tucking my head back into the warmth that surrounded me. Drifting straight back into my deep sleep.
After what felt like twenty minutes, Jason was banging on my bedroom door before he entered, jumping on top of my bed as I tried to push him off.
I scowled at him, unamused and still tired, wanting to get another hour or two of sleep.
"You've slept for about 14 hours. Surely you don't need more sleep?" I nodded my head at his question, rolling onto my side and facing away from him as I pulled my comforter up, tucking it beneath my chin as I attempted to get more sleep.
Jason's loud laugh entered my hearing as he yanked the comforter back, his aggravating smile bothering me at this time in the morning.
"It's 11 o'clock, they can wait an hour." I whined.
"Eva, it's 2 o'clock."
"Oh no." His comment had me darting up, I didn't want to be responsible for ruining everyone's day or plans. I immediately stood up, rushing towards my wardrobe and grabbing a pair of jeans, a pink casual top, and my underwear.
Jason laid casually on top of my bed, turning on my television as I hurried to the bathroom, brushing my teeth, showering, and throwing on the clothes I had picked.
"I'm ready," I stated as I walked out only to find Jason smirking at me. I narrowed my eyes at him, my brain acknowledging exactly what he had done, the reason why he was smirking at me.
"It's not 2 o'clock, is it?"
Jason's smirk seemed to grow, his eyes shining as an amused glint appeared in his eyes. His dimples became more prominent as I glared angrily at him.
"No, we have loads of time. It's only half past 9."
"Jason," I screamed making him chuckle more while agitating me more.
"You're such a jerk!" I shouted before grabbing a pillow and hitting him with it.
Claire’s POVWith every step I take the scent becomes stronger and my heart beats faster. We go up-wind so they won’t smell us until we are very close. Our steps are light and carful. Why was he here? He has to be the one that took her. I hear footsteps, and I mentally tell Brayt to hold. He stops next to me bowing his head lower to the ground as we both listen.‘Four pairs of feet’ he says through the link“One must be Lawrence and the other Claire…”“Tara is most likely with them” I growl lowly at this“Be prepared for whoever the fourth person is” I tell him and his golden eyes nod down at me“on my count, we attack” again he nods“1….2….3”With their heightened hearing they turn sharply to see us. I take in the scene in front of me. Lawrence is holding Claire up, she looks weak and tired. His eyes widen in fear and shock. Tara is ahead of the group and is the last to turn around. But when she does she quickly looks to the other person. My eyes shift and land on the piece of shit H
Martin’s POVI ignore the thought of my mother’s, knowing her eyes would look at me in grief and sadness knowing what just unfolded with me and my father. He did this to himself. The thought of Claire knowing my father and brother are the reason her beloved aunt and uncle are dead would kill her. I knew my father was power obsessed but that is unspeakable. I try to push all of it away and focus on one thing at a time. Her. Finding her and figuring out a way to get her back. I walk in the direction of Claire’s parents home praying they know where she is.The small cottage comes into view and off to my left I see Lena come out of the woods, her eyes land on me and her face falls. I don’t even have to ask to know. I hear the door and Bryat walks out. He looks between me and Lena and again…a fallen face.“It’s true Martin the black wolf” Bryat says.I turn to Lena and she looks at me with tears for me in her eyes as she nods. I feel my knees lock but somehow I continue to stand“But…” I w
Claire’s POVIt’s her birthday today and she’s still missing. I pace back and forth in my room with eyes clamped shut. Trying not to picture Claire laying in bed asleep or in the bathroom brushing her silky silver locks. I run my hands through my hair and shake my head. I hear Bryat walk in.“Martin?” He says softly and I turn to himI have a sliver of hope and I step over to him“What? Have they found her? Did they pick up her scent anywhere?”Bryat looks away“no…not yet but they are looking” I pound my hand against the wall and shout in anger, my wolf on the verge of showing though“I should be out there!” I scream and walk over to him but he blocks the door“You’ve been out all day and night. You fainted last night from no food or drink. You need to take it easy” Bryat says calmly, putting up his hands“How can I?! Claire is out there. Why wouldn’t she come home?!” I beg him or anyone to answer the question that’s gone through my mind nonstop“where is she Bryat” I collapse on my
Claire’s POVThis is the best thing to do.I repeat this to myself as I walk out of my bedroom and down the stairs. I decide it’s easier to assume he knew about me all along…it’s not his fault. He didn’t know his love for me was because of what I am. One day his true mate will come and he will be- I can’t finish that thought. One thing I can’t leave unfinished is the murder of Kenneth, May, and my unborn cousin…but that will have to be a different day. It’s time to get smart. It’s to risky to get my revenge right now…but one day I will avenge them.I sneak out to the back door. My eyes linger up at the window on Martin. I see his brown eyes turned down in sadness, his lips parted as he lets out an order, strong hands shaking…a part of my heart hurts knowing I’ll never see him again but the other part is glad. Hoping if I never see him again I’ll never have to think if he was involved with May and Kenneth’s death. My lingering eyes shift to the dense forest. Maybe my parents will help

Claire’s POVAfter leaving my parents’ house, I hide deep in the woods. Every sound keeps me alert, but exhaustion eventually wins. I fall asleep against a tree.I wake to unbearable pain.A scream tears from my throat as I collapse onto the damp ground. Leaves cling to my burning skin. My body feels like it’s being ripped apart from the inside.Above me, the moon glows—bright against a starless sky. Its light feels focused… like it’s meant only for me.It feels like my first shift all over again.Only worse. My bones crack and reform. My muscles tear and rebuild. The pain is endless, suffocating.Lolly never told me it would be like this. This is not what I expected for my birthday. My body convulses, heat surging through me until—I shift.Relief comes, but it’s weak.I stand unsteadily on my paws, my body trembling. I glance down at myself—raven-black fur glistening under the moonlight. Then I see it.Silver.A crescent-shaped marking across my back, the same shade as my human hair
Bryan’s POV I stood abruptly, catching my daughter as Luara’s grip went slack and her body went limp. A pack nurse rushed over immediately, taking her gently from my arms while I stared down at my mate in panic. My heart hammered violently in my chest. I grabbed the heart monitor, watching her pul
Luara’s POV I felt my body waking, yet my eyes remained glued shut. All I could hear were people moving frantically around me until a hand gently stroked my face. I unconsciously leaned into the comforting touch. “Luara, can you hear me, sweetheart?” Lopez’s soothing voice surrounded me as I lay
Luara’s POV Time had been passing quickly; it had been nearly a month since we came home from my father’s territory. I was a few days away from the 13th week of my pregnancy, meaning I only had three more to go. To say I was petrified would be an understatement, but with Bryan and Melvin by my sid
Luara’s POV Maxwell and Lucas had both arrived along with a few wolves they brought with them, and we were all currently sitting in my father’s dining hall. His office was too small to hold the meeting due to the number of wolves who had arrived with each Alpha. The atmosphere was extremely tense.
