Mag-log inEva's POV
I spent the majority of Saturday in bed watching whatever I could find on the television. Lucy had phoned me to say that both she and Elix would be arriving around 7 o'clock to pick me up.
We had all changed plans, the guys wanted to get to the party earlier which meant Lucy was going to drive us girls down and leave her vehicle there overnight.
Apparently, the party was being held in the Alpha's old house. They had moved and were renovating their old property into a second pack house since their numbers were increasing and needed more space.
Alpha Torey had called Luke last night, inviting him and anyone else he wanted to stay which meant we would all be residing on his territory overnight.
Already prepared, I washed and blow-dried my hair the night before. I didn't want my hair to suffer too much from the heat when I straightened it later after my shower. I had already hung up my dress in my wardrobe and hadn't fully decided on what shoes I wanted to wear.
Jason and I had eaten another takeaway for dinner since it was late when he came into my room wanting to know what I wanted to eat. With him and the rest of the guys leaving early, we had to order something quickly.
It had just turned 5 o'clock and was time for me to get ready. I grabbed some clean clothes for me to wear for after my shower, so I could put on my dress minutes before we leave.
I quickly showered, purposely avoiding getting my hair wet. I shaved and covered myself in shower gel. Once out, I dried myself and covered my arms and legs in lotion.
I then brushed my teeth and threw on some shorts and a strapless top, to stop any make-up marks or stains from getting on my dress while I got ready.
I decided to keep my look simple with foundation, mascara, and a little bit of eyeshadow.
I straightened my hair; it was long and blonde. I couldn't decide whether I wanted it down once I had straightened it, my bangs kept falling into my face.
In the end, I slicked it back into a high ponytail adding a few clips at the front.
A knock on my door had me shouting for them to come in, I could sense that Lucy and Elix were the ones standing outside.
"You look so good; you should totally add some eyeliner to your look. It would complete it!" Elix complimented, both her and Lucy looking gorgeous in their dresses.
I smiled a little shyly and looked back at my make-up bag, searching for an eyeliner. They both made themselves comfortable on my bed while I applied it.
"So, you excited?” Lucy questioned, her eyes following mine.
I nodded; I was looking forward to it. "Yeah, I am, now I'm all ready and everything. It should be fun with everyone going.”
Both girls smiled at me, I could see the excitement in their eyes.
"The guys are all there, Kelvin mind-linked me saying it's packed already. We should get going in a minute." Lucy informed us while texting on her phone.
"I don't know what shoes to pair with my dress, will you both have a look in my wardrobe while I get changed?" I asked.
I still hadn't decided on what shoes to match with my dress, I had a few heels, flat shoes, and trainers but I didn't know which ones would look best. I didn't want to wear anything too extreme.
While I got dressed, they both searched, coming out with a pair of small black heels. They went perfectly with my outfit, nothing too high, and suited the occasion.
On the drive there we spoke about Elix and her mate Joseph. They had both spoken about their relationship, about his ex-girlfriend whom he had been with for two years.
He broke it off with her yesterday and thankfully for Elix, it went smoothly. His ex-girlfriend understood they weren't mates and she knew one day, they would find them. She was happy for him.
Elix and Joseph decided to take their relationship slow, they were mates and had all the time in the world.
It took around an hour to arrive, Lucy had luckily found a decent parking spot, not too much of a walk to the house.
The house was huge, bigger than any pack house I had ever seen. It was beautiful and hidden deep within the forest, with trees surrounding the property and lanterns hanging inside, their warm glow filtering through.
Music blared loudly, the beats of the music already flowing through our bodies, the urge to dance making us all excited.
A few teens were lying flat-out drunk on the lawn. We walked up the path trying to avoid any cups or beer cans that littered the floor as we swiftly walked inside and found our way into the kitchen which was crowded with people.
The smell of heavily medicated tonic had my nose twitching, it was an alcoholic drink that was made specifically for werewolves. The alcohol level was six times the normal.
It was the only drink that could get a werewolf drunk, it was strong and bitter in taste, but it hits you very quickly. The strong medication within it caused the effects.
Lucy handed me a cup full of it, then passed one to Elix. I sipped on it at first, the taste was horrible but the more you drink it, the easier it goes down.
I observed my surroundings for a few moments. From what I could tell there were mainly werewolves here, there were a few humans around, but I was guessing that they were someone's mate.
I couldn't see Jason, Luke, or Kelvin but I knew they were around somewhere, we would bump into each other eventually.
"Come on, let's go dance!" Lucy shouted over the music, grabbing me by my hand and pulling me towards the dance floor. Elix followed closely behind.
I wanted to enjoy myself, the last few years had been rough, and I deserved some fun.
We danced for ages, laughing, and smiling. I couldn't remove the grin from my face as we sang to the songs and drank more tonic.
I couldn't count on my fingers how many drinks I had when Jason finally found us. He wasn't too impressed with the state I was in. I could barely hold a conversation without having uncontrollable giggles or instantly changing the conversation when a song I loved come on.
I was still dancing, shaking my hips, and moving my body to the beat of the music. Both Lucy and Elix joined me as the guys watched from afar, keeping an eye on us.
It wasn't long until a strange sensation hit me. It was instant like a train had collided into me. A wave of anxiousness and anticipation crept up, almost sobering me up from its appearance. My wolf was lingering within my mind wanting to come to the surface and exert herself. I held onto my control even though I was intoxicated, keeping her at bay.
My wolf was stirring inside of me, curious as to what had made her so on edge, I completely stopped dancing, my eyes flickering through the crowds searching for the source.
It was then, that I saw him.
The word mate was swirling around my mind as he approached me, his six-foot figure towering over mine.
His aura was intimidating, strong and one only an Alpha carried.
He was incredibly muscular, with tanned skin with emerald green eyes which pierced through mine. He had dark slicked-back hair with a chiseled jaw, his cheekbones sharp with full lips. He was incredibly hot.
I bit my lip slightly, blushing at my sudden thought, my eyes staring at the floor from embarrassment, wanting to hide from my rosy cheeks.
His hand then grabbed my chin, gently raising it, igniting the sparks that tingled on my skin as our eyes connected.
"I'm Torey." He introduced himself, his voice deep and sensual, the butterflies in my stomach fluttering more and more.
"I'm Eva." I replied, my voice slightly nervous and nowhere near as confident as his.
His smile grew bigger, his eyes leaving mine for a moment as everyone had stopped, all staring at the scene we had created.
He dismissed them all, and they all went back to dancing and drinking as Torey grabbed me by my hand, pulling me away from my friends who were all grinning widely at me.
"You look gorgeous by the way." He said as we moved upstairs, directing me into a room that I assumed used to be his old bedroom.
I couldn't stop myself from biting the insides of my cheeks, wanting to stop the crimson blush that covered my whole face.
He chuckled at me, a playful growl leaving his lips from my reaction.
"You look cute when you blush."
I laughed at that, it was such a lie, "I look like a tomato."
He shook his head, amused at my reply, his deep laugh making my smile grow wider.
We sat on his bed for hours, just talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. It was everything I thought it would be, it was the start of our relationship and the beginning of the marking and mating process.
The music had pretty much died down when Torey touched my jaw, his fingers trailing to the back of my neck.
I didn't allow myself to feel nervous, I moved forward, confidently bringing my lips to his, our tongues tangling together. The light taste of alcohol was there but I didn't take much notice as his hands moved toward my hips, pulling my body on top of his.
Moments later he turned us around, his muscular form towering over mine as his lips trailed light torturous kisses down my neck and chest.
Claire’s POVWith every step I take the scent becomes stronger and my heart beats faster. We go up-wind so they won’t smell us until we are very close. Our steps are light and carful. Why was he here? He has to be the one that took her. I hear footsteps, and I mentally tell Brayt to hold. He stops next to me bowing his head lower to the ground as we both listen.‘Four pairs of feet’ he says through the link“One must be Lawrence and the other Claire…”“Tara is most likely with them” I growl lowly at this“Be prepared for whoever the fourth person is” I tell him and his golden eyes nod down at me“on my count, we attack” again he nods“1….2….3”With their heightened hearing they turn sharply to see us. I take in the scene in front of me. Lawrence is holding Claire up, she looks weak and tired. His eyes widen in fear and shock. Tara is ahead of the group and is the last to turn around. But when she does she quickly looks to the other person. My eyes shift and land on the piece of shit H
Martin’s POVI ignore the thought of my mother’s, knowing her eyes would look at me in grief and sadness knowing what just unfolded with me and my father. He did this to himself. The thought of Claire knowing my father and brother are the reason her beloved aunt and uncle are dead would kill her. I knew my father was power obsessed but that is unspeakable. I try to push all of it away and focus on one thing at a time. Her. Finding her and figuring out a way to get her back. I walk in the direction of Claire’s parents home praying they know where she is.The small cottage comes into view and off to my left I see Lena come out of the woods, her eyes land on me and her face falls. I don’t even have to ask to know. I hear the door and Bryat walks out. He looks between me and Lena and again…a fallen face.“It’s true Martin the black wolf” Bryat says.I turn to Lena and she looks at me with tears for me in her eyes as she nods. I feel my knees lock but somehow I continue to stand“But…” I w
Claire’s POVIt’s her birthday today and she’s still missing. I pace back and forth in my room with eyes clamped shut. Trying not to picture Claire laying in bed asleep or in the bathroom brushing her silky silver locks. I run my hands through my hair and shake my head. I hear Bryat walk in.“Martin?” He says softly and I turn to himI have a sliver of hope and I step over to him“What? Have they found her? Did they pick up her scent anywhere?”Bryat looks away“no…not yet but they are looking” I pound my hand against the wall and shout in anger, my wolf on the verge of showing though“I should be out there!” I scream and walk over to him but he blocks the door“You’ve been out all day and night. You fainted last night from no food or drink. You need to take it easy” Bryat says calmly, putting up his hands“How can I?! Claire is out there. Why wouldn’t she come home?!” I beg him or anyone to answer the question that’s gone through my mind nonstop“where is she Bryat” I collapse on my
Claire’s POVThis is the best thing to do.I repeat this to myself as I walk out of my bedroom and down the stairs. I decide it’s easier to assume he knew about me all along…it’s not his fault. He didn’t know his love for me was because of what I am. One day his true mate will come and he will be- I can’t finish that thought. One thing I can’t leave unfinished is the murder of Kenneth, May, and my unborn cousin…but that will have to be a different day. It’s time to get smart. It’s to risky to get my revenge right now…but one day I will avenge them.I sneak out to the back door. My eyes linger up at the window on Martin. I see his brown eyes turned down in sadness, his lips parted as he lets out an order, strong hands shaking…a part of my heart hurts knowing I’ll never see him again but the other part is glad. Hoping if I never see him again I’ll never have to think if he was involved with May and Kenneth’s death. My lingering eyes shift to the dense forest. Maybe my parents will help

Claire’s POVAfter leaving my parents’ house, I hide deep in the woods. Every sound keeps me alert, but exhaustion eventually wins. I fall asleep against a tree.I wake to unbearable pain.A scream tears from my throat as I collapse onto the damp ground. Leaves cling to my burning skin. My body feels like it’s being ripped apart from the inside.Above me, the moon glows—bright against a starless sky. Its light feels focused… like it’s meant only for me.It feels like my first shift all over again.Only worse. My bones crack and reform. My muscles tear and rebuild. The pain is endless, suffocating.Lolly never told me it would be like this. This is not what I expected for my birthday. My body convulses, heat surging through me until—I shift.Relief comes, but it’s weak.I stand unsteadily on my paws, my body trembling. I glance down at myself—raven-black fur glistening under the moonlight. Then I see it.Silver.A crescent-shaped marking across my back, the same shade as my human hair
Claire’s POVI knock lightly on the large wooden door and wait patiently, stepping back as I hear footsteps approaching. My eyes fall on the welcome mat: “All Canines Welcome.” I can’t help but laugh, knowing my aunt probably picked it up from some human store. The door swings open, and I’m surpris
Claire’s POVI’m stunned by his statement—he’s never said anything like that before. What did he mean by it?Before I can ask, someone jumps beside us, making me start.“What’d I miss? Beverly just slammed past me—looked like she was about to go full wolf any second,” Tara laughs. I frown and look
Claire’s POVI’m pulled from my daze when my sister’s red Mustang convertible rolls down the dirt driveway.“What are you doing?” I call, hurrying down to the car.“Catch a ride from someone else, I can’t deal with you this morning,” she snaps, backing out before I can stop her.I’m too dumbfounded
Luara’s POV“Leave my daughter alone, Uncle Elijah.” I frowned, rolling my eyes as my father’s Third in Command sat down on the couch, poking my daughter’s cheeks with his index finger while she slept.Elijah turned his head, a mischievous glint in his eyes.“Am I not allowed to mess with my Alpha’
