Mia

His question saturated the air around us.

I swallowed and nodded. “I know.” I knew without his declaration. The bulge in his blue jeans was testing the strength of the zipper.

“And I could.”

He could.

I wasn’t strong enough or big enough to stop him.

“You won’t.” My breasts heaved with a lethal combination of fear and desire.

“Because?” His question lingered in the air, floating on the sea breeze.

Because… My focus was set on his eyes. “Because you’re not him.” I worked up my bravery. “Before…Well, there’s something you should know.”

“Do you want to change the rules again?”

I shook my head. “Today, in the shower…I wanted to do that…what I did.”

His lips quirked. “Suck my cock. You can say it. You were amazing.”

Yes, that was what I did.

Heat creeped from my neck to my cheeks. “If you don’t want to…reciprocate, it’s okay. I rarely come with oral.”

Aléjandro’s eyebrows shot up. “Oh, Mia, challenge accepted.”

“It wasn’t a challenge. I just know men would rather receive, so if you’re tired or—”

My husband’s lips collided with mine, stopping the rest of my attempt to give him a reasonable excuse. When he pulled away, his gaze was on mine. “If that’s what you think, you’re ill-informed. Men love to eat pussy, the wetter and messier the better.”

Pressing my lips together, I tilted my head.

“We’re done talking.” Aléjandro’s lips curled as he scooped me from the floor and carried me to the bed.

“Your arm,” I exclaimed.

“Fuck my arm.” He laid me on top of the turned-down covers. “I’ll keep my word.”

I let out a breath as I looked up at him.

“You won’t sleep tonight until you’re too wrung out to dream.”

I squirmed at his words. It wasn’t only what he was saying and how he was saying it. My husband’s expression was laser focused and intense. The concoction melted my resolve as his smoldering gaze caused my breathing to hitch.

Aléjandro took a step back and unbuttoned his shirt. While he wouldn’t admit that his arm was still hurting, I picked out the grimaces he made every now and then as he undressed. I took my time devouring with my eyes the body I’d washed before dinner. My attention was drawn to the silver scars littering his golden flesh. From this distance they stood out even more than they had in the shower. While I didn’t know how he’d gotten them, I knew in my world—and I imagined his—scars were viewed as badges of honor, times when he’d stared death in the face and come out victorious.

I didn’t want to think about Aléjandro in conjunction with death. Instead, I let my gaze linger on his wide shoulders and down to his sculptured abdomen. When he turned, he had those dimples above his firm ass that did something to me. It wasn’t until he wore only his black silk boxer shorts that he turned down the interior lights, filling our cabin with the blue hue from out on the balcony.

“Spread your legs for me.”

I’d fought once before.

I didn’t want to fight.

That meant I needed to trust him.

Aléjandro didn’t repeat himself, giving me time to comply.

And comply I did.

A low growl filled the air and the mattress dipped as starting from the bottom, he crawled onto the bed. Knee, fist, knee, fist…he was back to being that predator, and soon I would be his prey.

Once Aléjandro reached my ankles, he pulled me down, causing me to gasp. The coarseness of his cheeks tingled my nerves. His affections began measured and controlled, yet the higher his kisses and nips came on my ankles, legs, and inner thighs, the faster and more unpredictable his movements became. The slow burn of his assault ignited fires throughout my circulation. With each kiss the temperature within me rose.

You’re not him.

I didn’t realize I needed to say the words, but having said them, I sensed a deeper connection to the man currently showing my body reverence. This was a man who accepted my limitations, heeded my lines, and still was finding a way to bring me pleasure.

My insides melted as Aléjandro brought his lips to my folds and his tongue delved within me. I reached for the sheets, clawing at the material as he pushed my legs apart, pressed my knees back, and buried his face in my core.

My God Almighty. I wasn’t certain what he was doing, but I knew it was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. His tongue flicked faster, his fingers adding to my pleasure.

“You taste fucking sweet.” His dark stare met mine. “From the night of the wedding when I smelled your arousal, I knew you would be.”

That night I slapped him.

Now…

My head fell back as he again buried his face between my legs.

The noises filling my ears were raw, wet, slobbering, and uncivilized. A younger me would be humiliated that I was turned on by this savagery. Today’s me knew there was no way to deny my reaction. What he was doing was something from a new level of sexual encounter. My muscles contracted and spasmed.

His arm cradled my hips as they began to buck, holding me in place. Oh God, it was almost painful how tight he wound my body. My orgasm hit with the strength of a tornado, my brain fried, and my nerves shredded, swirling into the funnel cloud of destruction.

“I came,” I panted.

Aléjandro didn’t slow, a man on a mission, licking and drawing out my body’s reaction.

Shit.

He wasn’t going to stop. It was a useless pursuit. Never had I come more than once and usually I didn’t. Wriggling in his grasp, I wanted him to end this torture. “Please.” Despite my brain’s apprehension, my body reacted. Hard as diamond nipples. Twisted core. Even my scalp tingled. My plea changed. “Please…don’t stop.”

No longer was I debating the possibility of multiple orgasms.

My body wasn’t trapped in a storm, but aboard an old-fashioned roller coaster, clicking up the steep hill, anticipating the free fall that was on the other side. This was like nothing I’d ever known.

The fall came with a jolt as my legs grew rigid, holding his head in the vise of my muscle spasm. Cognitive thinking was beyond my ability, yet the name I called out was his—even in my raptured state, there was no mistaking Aléjandro for the man who came before him.

You aren’t him.

Aléjandro trailed kisses along my thighs, hips, stomach, and up to my breasts. By the time his lips reached mine, I was hungry for him. Starved.

“See how good you taste?”

MiaWe couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather to have our home opened and on display. With extra outdoor tables, our guests milled both inside and outside. Viviana had the serving staff ready and accessible with trays of champagne, wine, and sparkling water. There was a bar set up on the pool deck stocked with the best tequila and bourbon known to enthusiasts of both liquors. After Dario and Catalina arrived and said their hellos, I was able to hold Ariadna Gia for the first time. Catalina laid her in my arms.I stared down at the beautiful baby in my grasp and imagined one of my own. Ariadna’s eyes were dark brown like Dario’s, shaped big and round like her mommy’s. Inhaling, I savored her sweet scent of lotion and sunshine. “She’s so tiny.”Catalina teased some of Ariadna’s dark hair into a curl on the top of her head. “She’s gained three pounds since she was born.”Tears blurred my vision. “She’s perfect.”“She is.” Catalina lowered her voice. “Do you have an announcement?”

Second Saturday in SeptemberMiaStanding on a chair, I secured the welcome sign above the table with a pink-icing cake decorated with ‘Welcome, Ariadna Gia’ scrolled in white frosting. While this gathering was to be our housewarming party, it would also be Ariadna’s first visit to the West Coast. She had an entire side of her family anxious to meet her.“Qué estás haciendo?”I turned and smiled at the deep voice. His brow furrowed as he looked in my direction. “No.” He reached for my waist and lifted me, helping me down. My shoes landed on the tile floor. “Don’t do things like that.”Tilting my chin up, I grinned. “It’s a chair. I was what, two feet in the air?”With his hands still on my waist, he tugged me close. “You have Viviana, Silas, and me.” He released one hand and splayed his fingers over my stomach. “And our bebé. Your number-one job is to be careful.”My cheeks rose as my smile grew. I looked down at his large hand and back to his stunningly protective gaze. “I’m well. Th

MiaDante held me as I walked by his side, up the metal stairs in the hideout. Rei was leading the way. All I’d been told was that the mole was found, and my husband had been stabbed.Again.Without my brother’s strength, I’d still be lying on the floor of Nicolas’s house, in the same spot I fell when I was told that another husband was in jeopardy of losing his life. Blood loss.Till death do us part.I couldn’t do this again. I wouldn’t.Aléjandro and I found one another, two unlikely people who when we were together made the world, our lives, everything better. Our too-brief relationship played on a loop in my mind as I was driven to the hideout. Each smile. Each word. Each kiss. There weren’t enough. I wanted more.I’d been told that he was being attended to by one of the cartel doctors. The man at the door didn’t hesitate to allow us entrance.I scanned the room, seeing a different scene than I’d seen the last time I was here. The mood was somber, and the men were quiet. A few ev

AléjandroGerardo was the least happy about my emergency meeting. In his defense, he had the farthest to travel, I hadn’t given him the option of declining, and taking orders from me was not his strong suit. After what we’d learned over the last few days, his presence was mandatory. This meeting had to take place with the attendance of the men congregating in my home. That included our personal guards. There was little that they didn’t know. That was why I also asked for their presence.Andrés and Em brought Sergio. Nicolas and Nick brought Carlos. Gerardo brought Ángel. I recalled he was the one who drove Mia all day and never spoke English. He didn’t look any happier to be here than Gerardo. Rei, Felipe, Diego, and Silas were also present.“Sit,” I said, gesturing toward the long dining room table as our meeting progressed in Spanish. I remained standing. “The Roríguez cartel is being attacked.”“Down here. Things are good up north,” Gerardo grumbled, leaning back and crossing his a

MiaAléjandro ran his hand over my hair. “Yes. You. I fucking hoped I was wrong. If I couldn’t be with you today at your fucking side, I chose the one person who I could trust and who wouldn’t give away the cartel’s connection.”I remembered that when we’d originally come up with the plan, I’d offered to do the business deal alone. I reached for my husband’s hand and intertwined our fingers. “Their plan won’t work. Jorge believes in you. I believe in you.”He leaned down and kissed my forehead. “What can I get you? Aspirin? Water?”“Don’t bring it to my feet but the head of the mole.” I squeezed his hand. “I know you have momentous plans, and you’re capable of leading when Jorge is ready. We can’t keep living like this. We need to know who’s undermining you.”Aléjandro nodded. “I’ve called a meeting. I want you to go to Nicolas’s house.” Before I could question, he went on, “Valentina’s in Missouri with Catalina and the baby. Nicolas and the other men will be here. All the other women

MiaDante nonchalantly opened his suit coat. He removed his gun from the holster. My mouth grew instantly dry as my heart rate accelerated. “No. There’s no danger.” My volume rose. “No one knows about this transaction.” Fidgeting, I twisted my wedding rings. My hands trembled and my knee bounced, wanting and needing to move.Dante’s hand again came to my thigh. “Sit still, Mia. If we’re being watched, we need to appear calm.”“I’m not calm,” I growled in a low whisper. The click as Dante released the safety on his gun reverberated like thunder through the car, competing with the thumping in my ears.“Where is Giovanni?”“He went to check on something.”“What if…?” I had too many questions to finish this one. What if someone shot Giovanni? “Should one of us get in the driver’s seat?”“Probably, but I’d rather concentrate on my target if I need to shoot.”“I can drive.”Dante turned toward me for a millisecond and then back to the view ahead. “Since when?”“Aléjandro’s been teaching me.
