It was as if the entire room was rotating in the eyes of Victoria. She was still comprehending what Mr Smith had just said to her. There was no way she heard right, she thought to herself, shaking her head furiously refusing to believe she heard him right.

Her heart broke into a thousand pieces as she thought of the words over and over again. Did he indeed fire her? She asked herself, still in a state of shock.

She thought in her head that she was dreaming but the face of Mr Smith remained unchanged. Her eyes filled with tears but she remained strong, fighting back the tears that threatened to fall. She was starting to panic again but she didn't want to show it and she was afraid it would only make her look stupid.

She swallowed a painful lump in her throat, thinking of what to do next or how to begin. Working for Smith technologies had always been her dream and now she had lost the chances of showing what she is capable of before she could begin. Nothing hurts her more as she thought of the stress he went through for the interview and how happy she was when she received the good news that she got the job at Smith technologies.

She was overjoyed and now it was as if she had been celebrating over a position not yet secured. It hurt so much that she didn't know how to react or what to do or say.

After some minutes, she got a hold of herself and decided to say what was in her mind, after all she had lost her chance. She was finally going to let him know her mind because she hated that she lost the job because of their little misunderstanding this morning and not because she had failed to do her work well or done something that could tarnish the company's image.

She took in a deep breath and exhaled. "You are not hiring me not because I am not qualified but because of the encounter we had this morning which I believe to be unfair and unprofessional." She swallowed an invisible lump in her throat, clenching her fist.

Her eyes bored Mr Smiths this time around, not intimidated by him anymore. Mr Smith raised his brows in amazement at her as he listened to her speak. "I competed with over two hundred candidates for this spot and was among the three given the opportunity to work here because they deem me fit. If I wasn't worthy of the position I wouldn't have gotten the call that I got the job. For years I worked hard only to be a programmer here at Smith technologies yet you decided to terminate my contract because of your own interest and not just your interest because of a reason that doesn't make sense and do you know what I think of this?" She asked rhetorically, her nose flared up at that moment.

"The brain behind Smith technologies face is unknown but he is a brain box when it comes to computer development, system analysis, hacking, programming, designing and some many others when it involves computers yet the man i see in front of me is a man who uses his feelings to work instead of his head and it's very sad because many look up to you even when they do not know your face!" She spat out through gritted teeth, holding herself back from shouting.

She felt the need to tell him more than that but she decided to hold some back. Her teeth clenched as she held back herself from creating drama. It hurts her so much and she felt the need to dislike or rather hate Mr Smith but she was incapable of doing so.

She heaved a sigh of relief after a while. "I can proudly say I got accepted because of my own qualifications but lost the job because of their own insecurities and pride and by them, I'm sure you know who." She said with a beaming forced smile on her face before turning on her heels to leave the office.

She was on the brink of tears and staying more than she had stayed and seeing the face of Mr Smith would make her lose her control and cry shamelessly in front of him. She didn't deem him worthy of seeing her in tears which is why she wouldn't make the mistake of crying in front of him.

Just as she was about to leave, she heard Me Smiths voice. "Miss Perkins, stop!"

She halted upon hearing his voice . She quickly wiped the tears that had rolled down her cheek but refused to turn around to face him.

"You pass." She heard him say and her eyes widened in shock.

Victoria thought she must have been hearing wrongly so she turned around to look at him. "What?" She asked with a questioning brow, refusing to celebrate just yet.

Mr Smith got up from his seat. "Your definition of me is wrong and the entire stunt earlier was the test you were meant to pass."

He walked closer to her as he shoved his hands in his pants pocket. "You had proved you knew what you were capable of and you were confident about what you had to bring to the table which was what I needed to see."

"If you had walked away when I told you that you were not qualified then you would have proved my point but the fact I had to remind yourself of the stages you went through to attain a position showed you weren't just chosen but you were chosen for a purpose."

"Mr Lucky doesn't accept anyone into the company making it hard for just anyone to get employed in Smith technologies and I wanted to see for myself."

A wide smile formed on Victoria's face and before she knew what she was doing, her legs took her to Mr Smith and she wrapped her arms around him.

"Omg! I'm so happy! I got the job! I passed!" She exclaimed.

Mr Smith felt awkward but didn't push her off as he didn't want her to fall by mistake. Victoria had realised what she was doing and got off him.

"I'm so sorry sir!" She exclaimed.

Mr Smith shook his head. "If you still like you can resume working now or go back home to get a hold of yourself as you are..." She interrupted him.

"No! I can start today. Thanks so much sir, God bless," she appreciated him once more before leaving his office to go and start today.

As soon as she got out of his office, she jumped up and down on the hallway, while muffling sounds of jubilation.

She couldn't wait to tell Elizabeth that she had met with the brain behind Smith Technologies and had wowed him with her abilities.

She had heard of how unapproachable the brain behind Smith technologies and how he loved efficiency in work. She couldn't believe she had it in her to challenge him.

Elizabeth sighed as she washed her hands in the sink. She had just come out of the operation room, assisting the doctors. The surgery had taken more than twelve hours and now she was tired, hungry and sleepy.

She couldn't wait for her closing time to come so she could leave. She was heading towards her locker room when she saw Mathew and his sister coming out of one of the hospital rooms.

Once they were both standing in front of each other, he greeted her and she waved back. "I see you came for the check up, so how is she?" She asked.

Mathew smiled, "She's doing fine." He said rubbing his sister's shoulder lightly.

"Hey Mirabel," Elizabeth greeted with a smile on her face.

"Hi," Mirabel greeted back.

"Take care of yourself." She said to Mirabel and she nodded her head in acknowledgement.

Both Mathew and Elizabeth parted ways and Elizabeth went to pack her bags ready to leave.

Once Elizabeth stepped her foot into the apartment, Victoria screamed rushing to wrap her arms around her.

"Welcome home Bee!" She exclaimed in excitement.

Elizabeth sighed. Trust Victoria to make an issue out of everything. She was exhausted yet her best friend wasn't thinking of them instead she squeezed her tightly.

"Aww, my baby is tired. You must have done a lot, come let me massage your leg and head." Victoria got off Elizabeth, bringing her to the couch. She knew he was tired without her friend saying much.

"Thanks so much, I needed that." Elizabeth appreciated sitting down on the couch for her friend to help massage her feet."

"Guess what?" Victoria spoke, rubbing Elizabeth's feet with her palms. Elizabeth sighed, she didn't want to guess anything and she knew Victoria was unpredictable and the things she took seriously many times weren't supposed to be taken seriously.

"I do not want to guess Tori, I'm stressed." Elizabeth complained tiredly.

"Anyways I have to tell you I met the brain behind Smith technologies today!" She said proudly.
