Chapter 63 - Dee
I look across the room at my father, who slowly flutters his eyes open.
Oh, my gosh! He is awake! YES!
I whip the blankets off me, but before I can climb out of bed, Shane scoops me up in his arms and carries me over to my father’s bed.
My mother rushes to his side while the others crowd around the bed too.
I have so many things to say to him, but right now, I can’t think of anything of them. Shane sits me down on the edge of the bed, while I stare at my father with a smile on my face.
We have been waiting for so long and the moment has finally come. He is awake.
Tears trickle down my mother’s cheeks as she leans over him and hugs him. Her voice cracks as she tries to talk. “Honey. You’re awake.”
As she stands back upright, he smiles and nods and his voice comes out hoarse and scratchy. “Yes. I’m awake. Well, technically, I’ve been awake for a while,
