Chapter 4

SECOND SUBJECT WAS LIFELESS. The instructor's low energy while discussing was nerve-racking and my eyes were about to close while jotting down important deets about her discussion. I'm not even sure if I wrote the important terms. I just can't take this subject anymore. Sighing, I straightened my body and tried to wake myself up.

"Oh boy, I think I'll drop this subject," Laura whispered.

I glanced at her and she smiled at me, "what do you think?" She asked.

I sighed and rolled my eyes before answering. "This is a major subject, Laura," I whispered back, laughing a little. "Unfortunately, we can't," she sighed and looked back in front.

I'm so sleepy, when will she dismiss us? I mentally groaned and tried my best to focus.

After a little while, she finally dismissed us and I waved good bye to my classmates before heading out the room. Walking, my phone buzzed. It was a message from Jess, informing me that they're already in the field. I replied and told her that I'm coming.

The field was our escape spot in the campus. Ever since we started hanging out with one another, we've decided to make the field as our meeting place and some kind of sanctuary away from other people. Few students were also hanging out there but at least, we could avoid the annoying chatters of other students inside the cafeteria. And I'm glad most of them have rather sit in a crowded place than messing with the quietness of the field.

I arrived at the field after a couple of minute and I saw Kayle and Jess busying themselves with their phones. I walked closer to them and greeted them with my highest pitch. They were startled by my sudden appearance and so I laughed at them.

Sitting on the bench, I asked how they are doing and I abruptly heard groans from them.

"What's up?" I asked, peeling off the cover of the burger they bought for me. I must know because two more burgers were laid right in front of them, half-eaten, along with canned sodas.

"Our upcoming perf was postponed," Kayle said, pouting. "What, why?" I asked, munching. "There was a big problem. The script was nowhere to be found." She said, sighing. "What? Aren't you the one who kept the script?" I asked, shocked. "Nope, Leila insisted to keep the script. She's kind of a pain in the ass, sometimes," she said, rolling her eyes.

"So what's your plan?" I asked, still munching. "We have to pull everything out and start over," she once again sighed.

I reached for her hand and squeezed it. Jess did the same thing and we smiled at her, saying that everything's will be alright. I understand Kayle's frustration because this was her project, it was her first time to hold and captained a play but it turned out to be a mess.

"I've worked for this, I prepared everything, I processed everything and then in just a blink of an eye, everything went bad," she said, blinking the tears away.

"We're so sorry, Kayle. But hey, cheer up, everything will be okay," Jess comforted her and she just smiled at her.

"Don't worry, your org will surely do their best to pull this up. And if you need our help, we will wholeheartedly help you, okay?" I said, assuring her and she smiled, convinced.

"What about you, Jess, what's up?" I asked before chugging my soda. "Student Leadership Summit will be coming so we'll probably extend our time at the office for the following weeks preparing and processing papers," she said, kind of burnt out.

"And it means Presidents will attend, right?" I asked, hoping for a no as an answer. "Yep, just like the old times," she said, killing my hope. "Oh well. I hope you'll be okay. I know it will be very stressing and might burned you out but I hope you'll cope. Take a good rest, okay?" I said and she smiled at me. "I will. Besides, you're there to be my strength," she chuckled.

"Cheesy," Kayle said, faking a vomit. "Want me to kick your ass?" Jess asked, laughing. "Do it and I'll make you kiss Mark," Kayle rebutted, laughing. "Ew. Fuck off!" She answered, disgusted.

Mark Jimenez was Jessica's long-term suitor. He was our school's basketball captain and he's in no doubt, a hundred and one percent fuck boy. That's the reason why Jessica wasn't interested in him. He was making a move ever since freshmen days but Jessica was tough enough to reject him. She even turned him down when he asked her to be his acquaintance date.

"What's wrong with him?" I asked, laughing. "Yea, aside from being the notorious playboy, what's wrong with him?" Kayle asked, laughing as well. "He's so full of himself," Jess said, rolling her eyes heavenwards.

Kayle and I nodded and agreed with her. Mark always boast himself in front of the whole stundentry because he feels like he was the most handsome and hottest guy in school.

"Why Chandler's not coming again?" Kayle asked, eating her burger. "She said, she has something to do," I answered shortly.

Kayle nodded, devouring her burger. Then, a short silence happened.

"Oh, have you already seen Charlie?" Jess inquired.

I paused, picturing his happy face a while ago.

"Yea and he looks...happy," I said, smiling a little. "Are you okay?" She asked, concerned. "Yea, I guess so," I smiled and they smiled back at me. Reaching for my hand, they squeezed it, assuring me that they'll be right beside me.

"Pizza later, right?" I said, changing the topic. "Oh yea! You promised," Jess said, laughing.

They knew that I'm diverting the topic and they understood that I don't wanna talk about it because they knew, it still pains to hear even his name.

"But I'll be home late, I have to attend the org meeting," I said, pouting. "Oh, that's fine. If you want, I'll buy the pizza and pay me later at night." Kayle seriously said. "Oh sure! Give me the bill later," I said, chuckling. "I'm just kidding, pizza's on me tonight. But next time, you owe us two boxes of pizza," she said, laughing. "Awwe, I'm touched, sure, on me next time," I said, laughing back at her.

"Anyway, how's your hottie teacher?" Kayle giddily asked. I rolled my eyes before answering. "Still the hot teacher everyone is drooling over with."

"I swear, if I'll have a chance to have a one night stand with him, I'll immediately take him home," Kayle dreamily said. "Ew, you could do better," I said, rolling my eyes once more. "Fawn, I know I'm better when it's him," Kayle rebutted.

Jess laughed at us.

"You guys should stop fighting over sir Ignacio. He doesn't even know that we're talking about him," Jess said, still laughing.

"Really?" A manly voice spoke behind us.

We all looked behind and saw that it was sir Ignacio. With wide eyes, we all stood up when we realized it was him. Nervous and ashamed, we greeted him a good afternoon.

And then, he playfully smiled at us. Our lips were trembling and the smile were forcing was about to fall.

"Next time, schedule an interview with me to get to know me, okay?" He said, winking at us.

We nod at him and he left us afterwards. When he was gone, the breathing we were holding was finally released.

"Phew, that was close," Kayle said, looking at his back. "We're doomed," I said, looking at the man's back who's now walking away from us. "So stop talking and dreaming about him," Jess said, looking at his back as well.

I looked at Kayle and said, "you better stop dreaming about him, please be happy with your boyfriend now." Chuckling, she replied, "yea, will definitely do that."

And we all burst into laughter.

After our lunch break, we all bounced back to our respective buildings and our afternoon classes started. My first class was fun because our instructor was giving funny experiences as examples for us to understand his lesson. After an hour, it ended. I went straight to my next class together with my classmates and again, for the second time today, I saw Charlie.

This time, he saw me. My heart was beating so fast that I can't keep up. Our eyes met and for a short period of time, I felt the currency between us and it felt like we're in a slow motion scene but then, he looked away without even smiling at me. I felt like crying but I promised myself not to breakdown in front of him. So instead of chasing him with my eyes, I forced myself to continue walking and forget about him. He wanted disconnection and so, I'm giving him his own choice of medicine.

After my classes in the afternoon, I went straight to our org room. Few of my members were already there and they all smiled at me. I smiled back while walking towards my chair.

"How's weekend?" I smiled, asking each one of them.

"Weekend's fun because there were no homeworks and projects to do," Dorothy, our vice pres smiled while answering my query.

"That's right. All I had to do was chill," Cathy, the secretary said while smiling. "And movie nights on weekends without projects are the best nights of my life," Dom, the treasurer said while laughing.

We agreed to his statement and laughed. Few more members were coming in and they are all smiling at me and so, I smiled back at them.

"Anyway, I've heard what happened between you and Charlie. Are you okay?" Dorothy asked me with her sincere eyes.

Others heard what she have said and so, they all immediately looked at me, waiting for me to say something. I pulled a deep sigh in my chest and forcefully smiled at them.

"Yep, we...broke up and...I'm not okay but it's okay," I said with nothing but sincerity in my voice.

They looked at me with concerned eyes and all I did was to smile at them and shrug to dismiss the topic.

I've shifted the topic and I guess they all understood what I was trying to say. Fortunately, I shifted the topic well because they seemed like enjoying telling about their fun weekends. After a little while, Ms. Valdez arrived and with the most pleasing appearance, she warmly smiled at us while greeting us.

"Hello ma'am, nice to see you," I greeted her with my sincerest smile. "You too, Fawn. And nice to see you all today," Ms. Valdez greeted all of us and then we smiled back at her.

"Alright, let's get started with the meeting," Ms. Valdez said, opening the white board marker she was holding.

Instantly, Cathy opened her notes to jot down every details for our MOTM or Minutes of the Meeting. I also brought my journal out as well as my pen.

"First off, Leadership Summit will be happening soon and of course, our President must attend the 3-day training event," she said, writing. And when she's done, she looked at me and smiled. I nodded and smiled, agreeing to what she have said.

"The Student Body will process the papers and necessary things first before they could tell us the exact date and place. Right now, I'm just reminding our President and the rest of you as well since Fawn will not be with us for three days. Understood?" She asked, smiling at us.

"Yes, ma'am," we all replied.

"And whatever you may have learned in your training, you must re-echo it with the rest of the members. Alright, Fawn?" Ms. Valdez once again looked at me. "I will, ma'am." I answered and then she smiled.

Cathy on the other hand continued jotting down and I wrote down important details as well.

"Next week, we will be having our 7th year of Job Fair for the graduating students of our school," Ms. Valdez continued while writing on the board.

Our eyes widened a bit and I heard quiet giggles from my members. It means that we're excited to the upcoming event of our organization.

"Fawn and I will be handling the processing of the papers and scheduling our event," Ms. Valdez said looking at me waiting for my confirmation and so, I nodded at her.

"Dorothy together with the communications committee will be communicating with the target companies. Confirm their decisions immediately for us to find solutions if one of them are backing up, understood?" Ms. Valdez asked the team and they all nodded as a response.

"While Cathy together with the materials committee will be doing the props and shall make sure that necessary things will be set correctly and effectively. From technicalities to certain materials. Is that clear?" Ms. Valdez looked at the team and then they all nodded at her.

"Dom with the rest of the members will be communicating to Cathy's committee for the budget. Dom will be the handler of our fund and he and the rest of you will be encharged to the food and material expenses. Clear?" Ms. Valdez looked at them and they all agreed.

I continued writing as well as Cathy.

"Alright, that's it for our meeting. Fawn, continue this meeting because I have to go, I'll have to run an errand. Please plan. And Cathy, report of MOTM next meeting, alright? See soon, everyone! Take care when you all go home," Ms. Valdez said while getting her things.

We smiled and nodded at her before she finally left the room. I then stood up in front of my members.

"Alright, we all know that this event is huge and fortunately, we've done a great job in the past years so we need collaborative effort to slay the event this year. Are you all with me?" I asked while looking, no one in particular.

They nodded and smiled at me so I continued.

"Dorothy and team, start asking the companies tomorrow and give me a written report afterwards. Is that okay?" I asked them and once again, they all nodded.

"Cathy and team, start planning for the theme of the event. From visual plan to the anticipated materials and their prices. Give me a written report, as well. Until Wednesday, alright?" I asked and they nodded as well.

"And lastly, Dom and the rest of the members, communicate with Cathy's team and go straight to me when you've finalized the budget, okay?" I asked them then Dom winked at me.

I chuckled then continued discussing.

We've spent half an hour planning and discussing the things for the upcoming event and when I looked at my wrist watch, I learned that it was already 7:20 in the evening. So when the meeting was finished, I gathered my things, bid farewell with my members, and went straight home.

When I got home, I've seen the girls, lying on the couch while watching TV. They looked at me when they learned that I was already home.

"Hey, why so late?" Chandler asked me while straightening her back.

I walked towards them and gave each one of them a warm hug.

"Had an org meeting," I said, kind of burnt out. "You okay?" Jess asked me with her concerned voice. "Yea, I'm just tired but it's tolerable. I'm gonna change to pjs for a bit and then let's eat pizza!" I said cheerfully and they all laughed.

I then went straight to my room and changed into my pink pjs. I grabbed my phone from my bed before leaving my room. I put my phone down on the sofa before going to the bathroom to wash my face. When I'm done, I went back to the leaving room while drying my face with the clean towel.

I sat beside Jess and really got excited when Chandler opened the box of pizza.

"Yum!" Kayle said while grabbing one slice. "Thanks for the pizza, Kay!" I said with wide smile etched on my face.

She winked at me as a response.

"So where did you go earlier, Chandie?" Jess asked without looking at Chandler because she's oggling her pizza.

"I forgot to get my Science book so I had to go home and get it. I actually looked everywhere but I can't find it," Chandler explained while munching. "What did you do?" I asked, munching as well. "Well, I remembered that I was in your room the other night and I left my book there so I went to your room to get it. Sorry to barge in, by the way," Chandler answered, apologetically. "Oh that's okay." I said then I winked at her.

"And by the way, I've seen three letters in your bedside table so I looked at it and found out that it was from you. So since I had enough time, I've decided to send it," Chandler said, smiling.

My eyes widened and it was like there was a horse race inside my heart. I abruptly stood up and screamed "What?!"

Shocked was evident on their faces and I think I'll die because of nervous.
