Strangely, Leonardo found himself comparing the two women. And the more he thought about it, the more he felt that Lucia had been overly emotional these past few days.

He never judged people by their family background, but sometimes he believed that a person’s upbringing shaped their behavior in life.

And now, the difference between Lorenza and Lucia’s character was painfully obvious to him.

Lucia finally lifted her eyes.

“No wonder you always praised her language skills, Mr. Marchesi. Lorenza managed to blame everything that has happened recently on me… using only a few words.”

“Lucia.” Leonardo suddenly spoke, his tone sounding like a warning.

Lucia felt as if a knife had been driven straight into her chest. The pain was sharp and burning.

She turned her head slightly, seeing him in the corner of her vision.

“Please remember you are a father in front of the kids. Don’t give me another reason to lose respect for you.”

That struck Leonardo’s pride.

“What have I done wrong as a father?

The living room fell deathly silent. Lucia’s eyes were filled with pain. She choked out, “Leonardo, just let me go.” He held on to her tightly, unwilling to let her leave, while still tangled up with Lorenza. What was the point? “Do I really look that easy to push around?” Nina and Nico rushed to Lucia’s side, each hugging her from one side. “Mom, please don’t fight with Dad.” Nina was clearly shaken. She and Nico had never seen Lucia like this. Leonardo’s head snapped to the side from the blow. Rage rose in his chest like a storm. It wasn’t just because she had slapped him in front of everyone, humiliating him. It was also because he felt like nothing he did was ever enough. He thought that she was impossible to please. The moment everyone came to their senses, the room erupted in a flurry of voices. “Lucia! How could you slap Leonardo?” Lorenza limped over with her crutch, planting herself in front of him. Tears rolled down her face as she cried out, “If you don’t love hi

“Why wouldn’t a birthday be a big deal?” Nina wrapped her arms around Lucia and said sweetly, “I want to thank Grandpa and Grandma for giving birth to Mom. That’s how Nico and I got the best mom in the world!” She could tell that Leonardo had let Lucia down again. Alexa said, “Nina, your birth mother is hurt. You and Nico should go visit her at the hospital.” Visit that lady? Neither Nina nor Nico looked thrilled about the idea. But Leonardo was there. A sudden idea lit up in Nina’s mind. She could go to the hospital with Nico and bring Leonardo back home. So, she nodded. “Okay!” Nico didn’t seem to get it, but Nina had already grabbed his hand and charged toward the foyer. She exclaimed, “Let’s go to the hospital!” It was the first time the kids had shown such enthusiasm, and Alexa was overjoyed. “Quick, get the car ready! Take my precious grandkids to visit their mother!” Davide glanced at Lucia, then reluctantly went to make the arrangements. Lucia didn’t know what the k

“Mom, are you going to give Nico and i a baby sister or baby brother?” Nina asked, her eyes wide with excitement.Leonardo set down the pancakes. “Do you want to go get it checked out later?”Lucia’s heart skipped a beat. Her period was indeed a few days late.In their six years of marriage, she had never thought about having a baby of her own. After all, the two kids had only just grown independent. She was finally getting a little breathing room. She gently placed a hand on her lower belly and wondered if she could genuinely be pregnant.Lorenza, snapping back to the moment, looked over with concern. “Lucia, are you really pregnant?”Lucia could guess what Lorenza was thinking. After a pause, she vaguely answered, “I’m not sure.”“Well, if you are, you’ll have to be careful. Pregnancy’s no joke,” Lorenza said deliberately.Alexa chimed in, “Yeah. When Lorenza was carrying those two, she was constantly sick. She came out of labor looking even skinnier than she was before she got preg

In the past, Leonardo would always throw a birthday party for Lucia, inviting friends and business partners. But this year, Lucia didn’t want any fuss. They were on the verge of divorce, and she didn’t see the point in celebrating. “Oh? Is it Lucia's birthday tomorrow?” Lorenza said in surprise. “Since I’m here, I can help decorate.” Everything had happened so suddenly that no one had prepared anything. Leonardo hadn’t planned to invite any business partners this year—maybe just a few close friends. “There’s no need,” Lucia replied calmly. “I have work tomorrow. I probably won’t even be home.” She gave a casual excuse to turn Lorenza down. But Lorenza insisted. “Come on. You need to celebrate your birthday. Just focus on work—I’ll handle the rest.” Lucia frowned slightly. Then she turned to Tommaso and Serena. “You two should get some rest.” “Sure, sure,” Tommaso replied. After chatting briefly with them, Lucia went upstairs to be with the kids. At this point, they were the

He figured that if he phrased it this way, he could still collect his payment from Lorenza. Rowland gave a faint smile. “You can use your skills to help those in need. But if you speak recklessly and stir up conflict in someone else’s home, that’s doing harm.” “Yes, yes, I understand! I’ll be going now!” Marcello didn’t dare remain there anymore. He grabbed his things and practically ran out the door. Lorenza was visibly panicked. She turned to Leonardo Marchesi and said, “Leonardo, I had no idea he was lying. I was just trying to help.” But Leonardo wasn’t an idiot. He could see exactly what had transpired. At that moment, he felt a twinge of guilt toward Lucia. “Put the wedding photo back up,” he said. The maids quickly got to work. Leonardo added, “Put the bedroom back the way it was, too!” The maids had no time to attend to the guests. Davide brought them upstairs and packed Lorenza’s few possessions into a bag without a trace of pity. Even the freshly changed bedsheet

Marcello was saying that all the recent turmoil and arguments in the family were because of Lucia Bianchi. He cited her incompatible energy with Leonardo Marchesi’s as the reason all this trouble kept happening.“Let’s set that aside for now. Mr. Colonna, is there anything we can adjust in the house?” Lorenza asked.Marcello glanced around. “I’ve already taken a look earlier. A few items should be removed, like that wedding photo. It’s primarily black and white, and it’s placed in the west. Such a placement disrupts the harmony between the couple in the house.“Also, all the bedrooms with doors facing east should be reassigned to someone who complements your energy. That will bring immediate results.”East-facing bedrooms? It struck Davide that every bedroom door in the house faced east. The guest rooms were rarely used.If someone had to be “reassigned,” then it could only mean that they were being moved to the master bedroom.Lorenza seized the opportunity and said, “Leonardo, I thi
