PATRICK POV

The obsidian grand hall was bathed in the harsh, flickering glare of fifty iron braziers.

Hundreds of pack members, elite vanguards, border commanders, and council members crammed into the vast chamber, their low, excited murmurs bouncing off the dark vaulted ceiling like the humming of a disturbed hornets' nest. The air was suffocatingly thick, smelling of heavy furs, roasted meat, stale wine, and wet mountain snow.

I stood at the top of the marble dais, resting one hand on the carved armrest of the bone throne. My broad chest swelled beneath a high-collared mantle of black velvet lined with silver-fox fur. Across my shoulders hung the ancestral chain of Stormfang—a heavy iron collar forged by the first High Alpha three centuries ago.

To my right, Elder Corvus stood leaning on his iron-tipped staff, his milky-blind eye glazed over, his wrinkled face set into a tight, unreadable mask.

I raised my right hand, heavy iron rings glinting in the firelight.

"Pack of Stormfang!" my gravelly baritone boomed across the obsidian hall, instantly silencing the crowd of hundreds. The sheer weight of my Alpha command rippled through the room, forcing even the proudest border lords to lower their eyes and straighten their spines.

"Seventeen years ago," I declared, my voice echoing off the stone pillars, "this territory was torn apart by weak leadership and foolish ideals. Adrian sought to drag our pure divine blood into the mud of humans. He wished to compromise with cattle, to make us hide our claws and beg for peace!"

A low, guttural growl of approval rippled through the front ranks of my elite vanguards.

"I took this crown to ensure our survival," I continued, pacing the top of the dais, my dark cape snapping behind me. "I built these walls into an impregnable fortress. I expanded our borders, enforced our law, and put down every traitor who dared to whisper the old High Alpha's name. But a kingdom built on strength alone requires an everlasting legacy."

I stopped in the center of the dais, turning to face the packed hall, a slow, triumphant smile spreading across my face.

"Tonight, I announce the final step in the complete, absolute unification of the northern territories," I proclaimed, my voice rising to a thunderous pitch. "The bloodline of Adrian has not merely been defeated—it has been subjugated! Tomorrow at sunset, before the high altar of the Moon Goddess, I will take Alora, the daughter of Adrian, as my High Alpha Queen!"

A deafening shockwave of gasps, roars, and shouting exploded through the hall.

Lord Kaelen pushed his way to the front of the crowd, his scarred face twisted in disbelief. "High Alpha Patrick!" he called out over the din. "The girl carries the origin-magic! She is the child of the usurped line! To bind her to the throne—"

"To bind her to me is to seal this realm forever!" I roared back, stepping to the edge of the dais, looking down at Kaelen with absolute, lethal authority. "By marrying Adrian's daughter, her divine White Light becomes mine. Her bloodline merges with my rule. Every loyalist hiding in the pack, every rebel lingering in the southern valleys, will have no choice but to bow to the throne! Her lineage ends in my hands, and her offspring will carry my name!"

The initial shock among the pack warriors quickly dissolved into fierce, savage cheers. The lower guards slammed their fists against their breastplates, screaming my name until the obsidian walls vibrated with the roar of four hundred wolves. They saw it not just as a marriage, but as the ultimate conquest—the total, humiliating absorption of the old royal bloodline into my reign.

Beside me, Corvus leaned in close, his raspy voice cutting through the deafening cheers. "A bold play, Patrick," he whispered softly, his good eye narrowing. "Or a desperate one. Have you forgotten the boy? The wedding will draw every loyalist remnant in the continent straight to our gates."

"Let them come," I sneered low, keeping my victorious smile fixed on the cheering crowd. "If Alexander is alive, the news of his sister being forced into my bed will drive him insane. He will abandon all caution, abandon all strategy, and sprint straight up the mountain path into my trap. I will execute him on the steps of the altar while his sister watches in her wedding silks."

Corvus tapped his staff against the marble, bowing his head slightly. "Then may the Goddess grant you a quick end to his storm."

I ignored the old man, stepping down to the front of the dais and raising my goblet of dark wine high into the air.

"Prepare the grand plaza!" I commanded the council lords. "Drape the battlements in black and silver! Slaughter the fat cattle from the valley pens and uncork the iron cellars! Tomorrow night, Stormfang celebrates the absolute downfall of the past and the eternal dawn of my bloodline!"

The grand hall erupted into another thunderous wave of howling and shouting as guards drained their tankards, clashing their iron swords together in wild celebration.

I turned away from the spectacle, handing my empty glass to a servant, and marched down the side corridor leading toward the subterranean stairs.

I didn't care about the feast or the wine. I wanted to see her face when she heard the news.

I descended the damp, spiral stone steps into the subterranean deep cells, my heavy boots clicking rhythmically against the stone. The two sentries guarding the iron grate bowed hastily, yanking the heavy deadbolts back to let me pass.

I took the wall torch and walked down the cold, quiet corridor until I stood outside Alora's iron cage.

She was sitting in the center of the cell, her knees drawn to her chest, her dark hair falling over her face. The silver suppression collar around her neck glowed a faint, sullen purple in the gloom.

"Did you hear the howling upstairs, little princess?" I asked smoothly, resting my elbow against the iron bars, leaning close.

Alora didn't flinch. She didn't lift her head right away. "Your guards drink too much wine," she murmured, her voice dry, raspy, but carrying that same insufferable, underlying coldness.

"They drink to celebrate," I chuckled softly, letting the amber torchlight wash over her pale frame. "I just announced our betrothal to the entire pack council. Tomorrow at sunset, you will be scrubbed of dungeon dirt, dressed in white silk, and brought up to the grand plaza. You will stand before the altar, kneel before the Moon Goddess, and become my High Alpha Queen."

Alora froze.

Slowly, her head lifted. Her dark hair fell away, exposing her pale cheeks and the dark bruises along her collarbone. But her eyes—burning through the dark with a sharp, brilliant silver-gold light—fixed on mine without a single trace of fear.

To my surprise, she didn't scream. She didn't weep or hurl insults at the bars.

Instead, a quiet, terrifying smile slowly touched her lips—a cold, feral glint showing her sharp upper canines in the torchlight.

"Your Queen?" she whispered, her voice carrying a deep, subterranean resonance that made the purple runes on her silver collar flicker violently.

"My Queen," I confirmed, leaning closer, my eyes locking onto hers. "You will surrender your blood to my line, Alora. Your story ends at my altar."

Alora leaned forward, bringing her face inches from the cold iron bars, her silver-gold eyes burning through my soul like twin stars.

"Then prepare your altar, Patrick," she rasped softly, her cold smile widening into a promise of absolute destruction. "Because my brother and I will be there to paint it in your blood."

PATRICK POVThe autumn wind carried the heavy scent of roasted meat, spiced wine, and the metallic tang of sweat and iron across the grand training court of Silverfang.I sat back in my carved obsidian throne on the high marble balcony overlooking the yard, nursing a silver goblet of aged spiced wine. Below, dozens of elite warriors clashed broadswords and iron-studded shields, their harsh grunts and the loud ringing of steel echoing against the granite walls of the inner keep. Lord Sterling stood at my shoulder, clutching a thick parchment ledger containing the names of fresh mercenaries and border recruits brought in from the northern ridges.None of them impressed me. They fought like clumsy bears—heavy, predictable, and devoid of true lethality."My Prince," Sterling murmured, leaning down slightly. "The guard rotations for the eastern wing have been doubled as you ordered. However, the guard commander remains uneasy. The girl’s presence in the high tower is causing quiet unrest a

A heady, intoxicating warmth roared through my veins—a sensation I hadn't felt in years. For so long, my existence had been defined by a quiet, gnawing failure. I had ruled Silverfang with an iron fist, yet every victory felt hollow, every tribute felt worthless, and every night spent in my cold bed was plagued by the memory of a woman who had walked away from me without turning back.No longer. The universe had finally corrected its trajectory. As I reached the grand promenade of the middle keep, my four elite shadow guards fell into step behind me, their silver armor clanking rhythmically against the stone walls. PATRICK POVThe subterranean corridors of the Silverfang Keep smelled of damp limestone, ancient moss, and the metallic tang of dried blood. To the rest of the pack, these deep catacombs were known as the Forbidden Vaults—a dark, forgotten labyrinth built into the roots of the mountain where the kingdom tossed its worst traitors, rogue Alpha challenge-seekers, and political abominations. No one stepped down these stone staircases without explicit permission. No light touched these halls except for the flickering, amber glow of resin torches mounted every fifty paces along the damp stone walls.I walked down the spiraling stairs with light, easy strides.
