DAVE POV

The moment Dr. Sana finished with the kids, Anna and I straightened from where we had been sitting outside the ward.

We had deliberately excused ourselves while she attended to them. Not because I didn’t want to know what she was saying, but because I figured the kids deserved at least one conversation in their lives where their parents—or whoever the hell I was to them at this point—weren’t hovering around listening to every single thing they said.

So when the door finally opened a

  • Too Late To Love Me: I Already Left With His Twins   Nothing

Lydia POVWas that actually a C-section scar? Was I really the mother of those children?I didn’t know. And the more I looked at myself, the stranger everything became. This wasn’t the body I remembered. The last time I remembered touching my body, I was in my early twenties. This body felt different. There was a maturity to it that I couldn’t explain. It looked like mine, obviously. But it also didn’t.It was like someone had taken my body, kept it somewhere for ten years, and then returned it to me with a few upgrades I never requested.Honestly, it was exhausting. So eventually, I slept.I didn’t even realize when I fell asleep.I just remember being tired, closing my eyes, and then everything went blank. When I woke up the next morning, doctors were already around me.Apparently, mornings in hospitals were very busy.I took my medications, and then they started another round of neurological evaluations. They shone that little light into my eyes. They tested my pupils. They asked m

LYDIA POVHonestly, hello everyone.Apparently, my name is Lydia. At least, that’s one of the few things I am completely certain about right now.According to what I know, I’m a lady in my early twenties who was involved in an accident, lost her memory, and somehow woke up to discover that she apparently has two children and an ex-husband.An ex-husband.For me to have children who are apparently six years old, I would have had to be in my thirties.Thirty.Like… what?Being in my thirties was not supposed to be part of the plan.I was supposed to be young, probably figuring out my career, probably fighting with my parents over something ridiculous. But apparently, somewhere between the woman I remember being and the woman everybody is telling me I became, I became a single mother.I don’t even know how.I have a best friend too.Me.Lydia.A best friend?LOL.Apparently, her name is Anna. And the funny thing is, everybody keeps talking about Anna like she’s supposed to be one of the

Dave pov“To make the life she has now feel safe enough for her brain to recover.” For some reason, that sentence stayed with me. Maybe because it was the first thing anyone had said since yesterday that didn’t feel like we were waiting for something. We weren’t waiting for Lydia to magically wake up and become herself again. We had to meet whatever version of her existed right now. Dr. Sana checked her phone. “I should get going.” Anna nodded. “Thank you, Dr. Sana.” “Of course.” I followed her toward the hospital entrance. Outside, the afternoon air hit my face, and for the first time in hours, I realized I hadn’t eaten anything substantial. Not that I cared. Dr. Sana stopped beside her car. “Dave?” “Yeah?” “Be patient with her.” I smiled bitterly. “That’s easier said than done.” “I know.” She opened her car door. “But don’t mistake the fact that she doesn’t remember you for the fact that you don’t matter.” I looked at her. That was a strange thing to say. Bec

Not because I didn’t want to know what she was saying, but because I figured the kids deserved at least one conversation in their lives where their parents—or whoever the hell I was to them at this point—weren’t hovering around listening to every single thing they said. So when the door finally opened and Dr. Sana stepped out, I immediately stood. She looked calm. Too calm, if you asked me. I mean, this woman had just spent the last half hour talking to two children who had watched their mother almost die, only to find out that the woman who woke up didn’t remember being their mother. That was enough trauma to fill an entire psychology textbook. Anna got up beside me. “How are they?” she asked immediately. Dr. Sana gave us a small smile. “They’re doing better than I expected.” I let o

Third person povAva’s fingers immediately found the edge of her blanket. She rubbed it between her thumb and forefinger.“Scary.”Dr. Sana nodded.“Very scary?”Ava nodded.“We thought Mom might never remember us again.”Eli looked down.“I thought she was going to forget us forever.”“What did that make you feel?”Eli thought about it.“Like…”He frowned.“Like she woke up, but she wasn’t really our Mom anymore.”Ava glanced at him.Dr. Sana didn’t rush to correct him.Instead, she asked, “What made you think that?”“Because she looked at us like strangers.”Ava nodded.“She asked who we were.”“And she asked if you were adopted?”Eli’s face tightened.“Yeah.”“That must have hurt.”Eli nodded.Ava was quieter.“She said she didn’t think she was the mother we were looking for.”Dr. Sana’s expression softened.“What did you think when she said that?”Ava stared down at her hands.“I thought maybe she didn’t want us.”Dr. Sana leaned slightly forward.“Did she say she didn’t want you?

Third person pov“Honestly, Auntie Anna outdid herself with this breakfast platter,” Ava said, staring down at the table with a smile that had slowly grown wider the longer she looked at it.Eli nodded enthusiastically, already halfway through his dinosaur-shaped pancake.“Obviously. Like, a lot of consideration went into this.”Ava laughed.“Consideration?”“Yes. Look at it.”He pointed his fork toward the different plates as though he were presenting evidence in court.“There’s a T-rex. There’s a triceratops. There are stars. There’s a whole solar system. She even made the fruits look like planets.”Ava picked up one of the little pieces of fruit.“She remembered I like strawberries.”“And she remembered I like pancakes.”“You like everything.”“That is not true.”Ava raised an eyebrow.“You ate vegetables on your plate just because Mom said you couldn’t have dessert until you finished them.”“That doesn’t mean I like everything.”“It means you were hungry.”Eli laughed.“She really

Lydia’s POVThe inside of the house was even worse than the outside.Worse, because now I had to physically stand inside it and accept that this was where I was expected to live. The space swallowed me the second I stepped in.The entrance opened into a massive living area with floors so polished I

Lydia I turned. He was standing a few feet away now, hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable. There was no softness in his face.Just cool detachment. The kind that made the evening breeze feel warmer by comparison. For the first time since he arrived, he looked directly at me and held the

Lydia POVAfter what seems like forever, a black Rolls-Royce pulled into the court compound, I had already imagined three different ways to murder my husband.Future husband.Potential husband.Missing husband.Whatever.At that point, I wasn’t being picky. The sleek black car glided through the ga

Lydia POVOh.That was… unfortunate.Because he was beautiful. In a sharp, expensive, dangerous kind of way.Dark suit.Sharper jaw.Dark eyes that looked almost black under certain lighting.Everything about him looked controlled.I clicked another picture.Still no smile.Another.Same expression
