“Let’s go together,”

Candice said helplessly.

Even if she told those two “tailers” not to follow, Caroline and Beatrice would clearly tag along anyway. Maybe that fearless display she’d put on earlier gave them the wrong idea—that she was some kind of brave heroine who could slay monsters.

But honestly… sigh.

Sophia looked left and right at the side doors. “Which way do we go?”

Candice: “It probably doesn’t matter. Whichever door we choose, they’ll have an ambush waiting.”

Bianca said, “Their target is the two madams—and you, Candice, for getting involved. They won’t act against everyone. If we head for a door with a crowd, maybe we can slip through the chaos.”

Just as they were whispering this, Mrs. Davidson had just sent off a few more guests and was briskly heading their way.

“Run—this way!”

Candice lifted her skirt and dashed toward the first door on the right.

A group of ladies was already heading that way, casually strolling out.

Sophia and Bianca took off after her.

Edward, one of the primary parties involved, was actually remarkably relaxed. He sat with his legs crossed, "I’ve been mulling over the details of last night, and it does feel a bit strange. Suppose someone was targeting me, Grandma, and Candice; they could have just lured me directly to the ecological trail. Why waste the extra effort setting up an ambush beforehand?""Last night, I was so frantic about Grandma’s safety that I didn't overthink it. I just assumed the first wave failed so they sent a second, and since the timing lined up, it seemed plausible on the surface.""However, Rex told me that the guys in the restaurant were just a distraction. The real assassins were hidden in the shadows. In other words, the moment I stepped off the helicopter, I was within the assassins' sniper range.""I'm not being narcissistic, but Denise definitely 'loves' me the most. She would never pass up a chance to take me out... and since she failed the fi

That tone actually held a trace of grievance. It was as if she were a "bad auntie" who had promised him candy but then backed out at the last second...Candice stood up helplessly."Fine, I promised you. We can talk now."Better to get it over with early. She headed toward the terrace without checking Charlie’s reaction; he certainly wasn't happy... but she wasn't a "Happy Pill" either! The main thing was that she truly had promised him yesterday.Reaching the door, she saw Edward smoking on the terrace. Her footsteps faltered as she considered switching locations.Just then, Edward spotted her. Catching a glimpse of Kyle following behind her, he understood instantly. He put out his cigarette and fanned away the smoke. "You two chat."He stepped back into the room. Seeing a certain someone’s cold, solemn profile, he couldn't help but want to laugh... Such a petty guy.Kyle closed the terrace doo

When Mike heard the words “little lover,” his expression subtly stiffened. After all, they were talking about his sister. And that sister had already become a stain the Jones family could never erase.By the time Candice came out of the restroom, Kyle was sitting properly again——but he was sitting in her seat.“???”No—brother, what are you doing?Everyone else wore expressions of speechless admiration. To separate his ex-wife from her new man, this guy really had no bottom line.Charlie was practically burning a hole through Kyle with his stare, clearly wanting to chase him off—yet unable to do so.Candice: “…Fine.”She walked over and sat next to Sophia.Sophia shot her a teasing look:Your ex and your current sitting together—who would’ve dared imagine this?Candice reached behind her and viciously twisted her waist.“Ow—!”“Let’s talk business,” Candice said flatly.Edward spoke from across the table, his gaze landing on Sophia, who was still wincing.“You tailed her all night ye

Mike’s voice was extremely calm.Yet anyone could hear the fear buried deep within it.To refuse meant Denise would eliminate him.To accept meant willingly becoming her puppet.Either way led to death. It was like being marked by a malevolent ghost—and in the Jones family, he was the only one still clear-headed.Mrs. Jones treated that ghost like a savior.Mia was firmly in her grasp.Enemies without, danger within—it was easy to imagine how hard his position truly was.“Other than cooperating with you, I have no choice.”Mike’s gaze swept over Charlie and Edward. His attitude in seeking cooperation was exceedingly sincere.Charlie smiled gently.“Mr. Jones is a smart man. I’ve always thought highly of you.”By contrast, Edward—usually the easygoing one—was uncharacteristically cold. There was no s

Candice didn’t tell him about the spotting. If she had, he’d probably have locked her in bed, feeding her every meal and even giving her water. As soon as Charlie got into the car, he closed his eyes and began to rest.At the afternoon business wine event, everyone had been surrounding him. As the most coveted person there, many were eager to connect with him, especially with the recent buzz from the grand banquet last night. The event had become a hot topic, and with his new title as a son-in-law of the Lawrence family, the attention on him only intensified.Jerry had been tirelessly fending off people and drinks on his behalf—he was nearly exhausted. At this moment, sitting in the front passenger seat, both tired and sleepy, it hadn’t even been 15 minutes before Jerry started snoring.Charlie furrowed his brow.Just as his mind was starting to settle, he was hit with a loud, three-dimensional cow-like snore t

Charlie's face was as cold as if it had been covered with a layer of ice.Sophia and the others were confused.Who pissed him off?Sophia glanced at Candice: "BFF, did I miss something exciting?"Candice just smiled and didn’t respond.Sigh, the third young master of the youth pain literature genre is quite a headache."Marlene, it’s time. You should leave now."Charlie’s tone was very calm.Marlene nodded, said goodbye to the others, and stood up. "You two, come with me. Don’t make trouble for your big brother."Nicole, naturally obedient, stood up immediately.Ollie, however, stayed seated without moving."Dear little brother, why aren’t you moving?" Marlene smiled sweetly, bending down to press her hand on his shoulder. "Do you want me to carry you?""I told you I have something to do.""Seems like you’re refusing to leave.""You two are enough!
