LOGINI walked inside and took a seat on the opposite side of the doctor's desk. He was a handsome young man, about my age, and there was something about his appearance and the way he spoke that calmed me.
However, I was scared of what he would tell me, which made it hard to think about anything else.
"Luna, we have tested you for many conditions since this is your third miscarriage. Miscarriages in an Alpha bloodline are extremely rare," he began explaining. My fingers gripped my bag tightly, and I felt a wave of dizziness wash over me. I was terrified. What if I were infertile or had something that could ruin all my dreams?
"Receiving the results, we found that there is a disease in your body that is causing the miscarriages," he said, making my heart race.
"What?" I replied, unable to hide the pain in my voice.
"Yes, Luna. I am really sorry to say that this disease inhibits your ability to get pregnant or prevents you from carrying a fetus to term," he explained. I tried to take deep breaths to keep myself from collapsing.
"But I'm not ill. I feel fine," I protested, making the doctor look at me with sympathy.
"I know, perhaps you aren't unwell yet," he said. I covered my forehead, unable to respond.
"Luna, there is a treatment for this disease, but it isn't easy," he continued. My eyes widened, and I almost blurted out why he couldn't start with that. Instead, I focused on the treatment.
"What is the treatment? Can it cure the disease?" I asked, frustration rising in my voice.
"The treatment is challenging. We must administer hormones, which will cause weight gain, fatigue, mood swings, and sometimes depression," he explained. This shattered my heart. I knew Andrew loved me, but would he love me enough to go through all of this? He was always proud of my appearance; it was the first thing that drew him to me that evening. Would he feel ashamed if I gained weight? Would I still be able to fulfil my duties as Luna alongside him? What would his parents think?
I shook my head. "Is there another option?" I asked, my voice on the verge of tears.
"I'm sorry, Luna, but even with this treatment, there would only be a fifty per cent chance of getting pregnant afterwards," he said, his tone filled with sorrow. It was clear he understood what I was going through.
He probably knew the rules and what they meant for me. If my husband, the Alpha, didn't love me enough to fight for me to the very end, I could be banished from the pack because of this.
My wolf whined inside my mind, insisting that I couldn't talk about this with anyone. I understood her concern. She feared losing her mate and her place in the pack, and she was right.
I looked at the doctor, and I felt my eyes getting moist.
"Doctor, may I ask you to keep this a secret? You know I could be in great trouble for this," I said, and he nodded.
"Of course. I am bound by medical confidentiality. Only the council has the power to force me to disclose your medical information, but they must first have reasonable suspicion and take it to court. Since I won’t say anything about it, you don’t need to worry about my side," he said, which calmed me a little.
"When can we start the treatment?" I asked him, and he sighed.
"Perhaps next month, but you must ensure that you don’t get pregnant until then," he said, and that scared me again. Andrew wanted a child, and even if he offered me a break from trying to conceive, he was a healthy male. How could I refuse him when he wanted to be with me?
I swallowed hard. "A month is too long," I said. "Could we rush things?" I asked him, and he sighed again.
"I can organise the treatment to start as soon as possible, but I can’t promise anything, Luna," he said, and all I could do was nod.
"Please call me when we can start the treatment," I requested, and he nodded.
He led me to the door, and after a gentle handshake, I stepped out of his office.
I walked to my car and, once inside, I contemplated what to do. Even though I thought about talking to Andrew and hoping he would understand my situation and support me through this, my wolf held me back. She urged me to keep this madness a secret.
I turned on the engine and drove back to our house. When I arrived, the first person I encountered was Hilda.
"Luna, you’re back. Shouldn’t you rest?" she asked, and my lips curled into a smile.
"I’ll go upstairs now and lie down," I replied, but of course, she sensed something was off.
"Are you alright, Luna? Do you want me to call the doctor?" she asked, but I shook my head.
"I just need some rest," I said. After giving her another smile, I walked up the stairs.
I had just sat down on the bed when my phone buzzed.
"Hi honey, I’m really sorry, but I can’t have lunch with you today. Since I was on a business trip, I am too busy to leave now; I’ve decided to stay with Seraphina and Sean. I’ll see you at dinner. Love you."
I sighed. Even though such a message usually disappointed me, this time I was okay with it. I wanted to pull myself together for the evening so that Andrew wouldn’t sense my discomfort.
I lay down and thought about the treatment. I feared how it would end, but I had to admit there was no other option to keep my position and avoid Andrew fighting with his parents over me.
I needed to admit that my wolf was right. Andrew had a strong relationship with his parents, and I couldn’t be sure he wouldn’t share this news about me with them, believing they would understand that the treatment could help me get pregnant. However, I was certain that in that case, they would contact the doctor. With the influence of the council, they would easily discover that the treatment only gives me a fifty per cent chance of fighting off the disease.
Just then, my phone interrupted my thoughts; it was Andrew calling.
Aria's POVEven though there was a lot on my mind, I was happy to see him back home. I had missed him a lot. But when he told me that his parents would be joining us for dinner, I lost all hope, and unfortunately, I couldn't hide my feelings."I know this is difficult, but please try to survive this evening," Andrew said, pulling me back into his embrace.I had just lost my baby, faced the fact that I had an illness with only a fifty per cent chance of a cure, and if that wasn't enough, I was uncertain about how the treatment would affect my marriage. Now, on top of everything, I had to deal with Andrew's parents as well. After he went to the bathroom, I walked down to the kitchen and ordered dinner that Andrew's parents liked. I asked the Omegas to set the table elegantly, wanting everything to be perfect. The last thing I wanted was for them to be dissatisfied.Once I finished in the bathroom myself, I chose a light green floral dress and tied my hair back into a ponytail. A light t
Andrew's POVI was in a good mood during the business trip. Since I found out that Aria was pregnant again, I felt relieved. Initially, when she told me she was expecting our heir, I had mixed feelings because we had lost two babies already. However, I tried to keep those feelings hidden. I asked the Moon Goddess to bless us with a healthy baby, and as time passed without any complications for Aria, I grew hopeful, even certain, that this time the Moon Goddess truly wanted to gift us with an heir. As we travelled back, I could hardly wait to see Aria again. The only downside of these business trips was being away from my Luna. I knew she feared losing the baby, and I completely understood her anxiety. That made it even harder for me to leave her this time. My heart felt heavy as I entered our house, and my chest tightened when I saw Hilda's expression. She lowered her head, and I asked, "Hilda, what is wrong?" She merely shook her head. My heart raced as I closed my eyes in disbelief

I continued staring at my phone, feeling my heart break. It seemed like he had ignored my message. I tried to keep myself from crying, not wanting the taxi driver to see that something was making me sad. After we arrived, I got out of the car. Hilda was already waiting for me and helped me get back into the house. She supported me on the stairs, and as soon as we entered our room, she helped me lie down on the bed where, just a few hours ago, I had lost my baby. There was no trace of that horrible night—the sheets were clean, and the room looked as if nothing had happened. "Will the Alpha return today?" Hilda asked. I nodded, but thinking about Andrew's indifference made it impossible for me to hold back my tears any longer. "Dear Luna, don’t take it to heart. You are still young. You have plenty of time to become a mother," she tried to comfort me. "Do the others know what happened?" I asked, but she shook her head. "No, Luna. The guards knew you had been taken to the hospital,
Aria's POVMy dream was terrifying. An abnormally huge wolf chased after me. I transformed, but even my Alpha wolf couldn't run faster than the beast. Despite my best efforts to survive, it got closer, and finally, I felt its sharp teeth sink into my flesh. I screamed, but no one came. I lay on my back, staring into its red eyes as it leaned down to take a bite out of my belly.I opened my eyes, hoping the nightmare was over, but I was wrong. The pain was real. I was sweating and could hardly breathe. It took me a few moments to realise what was happening. “Not again,” I cried, unsure whether the physical pain or the heartache hurt me more. I pulled myself up to see that the sheet beneath me was soaked in blood, which only made me sob harder. Another pregnancy ended—another baby lost. “Why? Moon Goddess, why?” I screamed as I lay back down.“Luna?” I heard my personal Omega servant, Hilda, enter the room. She turned on the light and gasped when she saw me sobbing in pain and lying in
