"Y-Yes, Dad," Aviannah softly replied to her father, avoiding Andrei’s gaze.

"That’s good then," her father responded, seemingly pleased with her answer.

"Who’s Alfred, hon?" Cristy suddenly asked.

"The son of Mr. and Mrs. Guden."

"Oh, really? That Alfred—" Cristy didn’t finish her sentence, but Aviannah already understood what she meant.

Alfred. The man her father once wanted to arrange her with.

"Yes, Alfred Guden. That’s him," Ark simply confirmed to Cristy while chewing his food.

Aviannah swallowed her food with difficulty, her gaze instinctively landing on Andrei again. His eyes were sharper now, staring at her with an intensity that made her chest tighten. She didn’t understand why, but his gaze felt like a silent accusation as if she had done something wrong.

"Well, I’m glad to know that you two are still seeing each other," Ark remarked.

"Uhm… we’re good friends, Dad," she softly replied, trying to redirect the conversation.
