~ Aria's POV ~

"Please, Jeremiah, stop!" I screamed, my voice breaking as the searing pain tore through me. The hot iron hissed against my skin, burning me to the bone. Even though the wounds healed as fast as they appeared, the agony was as scorching as hellfire.

I still couldn’t comprehend how I’d ended up in chains. The last thing I remembered was Jeremiah’s horrified face when he discovered that I was a vampire. He had struck me across the face with a wooden stake, his eyes burning with anger.

I didn't want to hurt him, which was why I tried to keep my calm, trying all I could to explain myself to him, but he kept throwing garlic at me.

The smell had an effect on me. He slammed into a shelf, and the pile of books fell to the ground. I knew with one single move, I'd be able to send him flying across the library, since he was human.
