Tristan’s POV

I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my chest and everything around me started to blur like I 'm about to fall off the roof. My wolf growled as the pain slammed into him.

Sweat trickled down my back and I gasped in shock as the wind brought the horror of what my mate had done to my ears.

“Reya… reject you… Alpha and Mate”

My eyes widened as I realized they were her words of rejection.

I heard them in my heart and felt the impact deep inside my soul. She was shredding me and my wolf to pieces.

Pain coursed through me and gods, did I hate the way my wolf cried out for losing his other half. After the shock of the pain passed, anger and rage washed through me.

“Are you okay?” Choe shifted closer, her concerned face appearing in my line of vision. Usually, her sing-song voice would drown out whatever worries I had but this time, she sounded so far away although she was just beside me.

“Tris!” she exclaimed, her concern deepening. “What is it?”

“How dare her!” I snapped, ignoring Chloe as I jumped out of my seat. “Bring that wolfless swine to me.”

Chloe’s frown deepened even more and then smoothened out when she began to put two and two together. I didn’t have to mention her name for my men to know who I was talking about. They scurried off to drag Reya to me.

I had intended to save her humiliation till the end of the party when I revealed Chloe as my chosen Luna and my decision to give her off to Alpha Wyvern, but I guess I should speed things up since that was clearly what she wanted.

“She had the audacity to reject me,” I growled. “I should make an example of her. Don’t you think?”

I noticed Alpha Wyvern watching me with a sly smile. When he realized that I was looking at him as well, he raised his half-full glass in a toast, then sip.

“That tramp…” Chloe said, pulling my attention to her beautiful face. “We can’t let her soil your mood and ruin the party. Tris baby, please calm down –”

“How am I supposed to calm down when she just rejected our bond? Can you take a minute to think about something else other than this silly party you’ve been demanding for all week?” I snapped, clenching my fists.

I realized I had made a mistake as soon as the words left my mouth, but in my defense, I hadn’t been thinking and my head wasn’t in a good place.

Chloe’s eye widened and pain flashed through her eyes, melting my heart for a second. Guilt washed through me and I moved to wrap my arms around her when the guards stormed back into the room.

“Lycan,” Usher, the chief security called, interrupting my moment with Chloe. “She is gone, Lycan Tristan. We couldn’t fine her anywhere in the pack house and we searched everywhere very thoroughly.”

I pushed past Chloe, staggering towards Usher. “Who is gone?” I asked shakily. “Who is it that you can’t find!” I yelled, failing to realize the Alpha who I was supposed to give Reya to was standing right beside me until his voice broke through my haze.

“Did you say you can’t find Reya? The same girl I’m supposed to leave here with?” he asked, his voice as calm as the sea at night.

“Yes, Alpha Wyvern. I can’t find Luna Reya anywhere.” Usher answered, looking everywhere but directly at me.

“What are you saying?” Alpha Wyvern thundered. “That one moment she just sprouted a wing and flew away? Weren’t you guys stationed at her door to make sure nothing like this happened?”

Rather than feeling wrath and anger towards Reya as I usually did, the emotion that took over my heart surprised me. I had never thought that I was going to be devastated if she ever left me.

I mean, I had literally exchanged her for the love of my life!

Before I could think about what I was doing, I dashed towards the pack house with my heart in my mouth, not stopping even as Chloe called after me. I ran as fast as I could until I was looking at the prison room.

Usher was right, she wasn’t in here. I checked everywhere in the pack house that I thought I could find her but there were no signs of her. It was then that I realized I had no idea who Reya really was.

I had no idea the places she liked to go. Where she would be if her mood was everywhere or if she wanted to hide from everyone.

The worse thig was that with our broken bond, I could no longer feel her as I used to.

“Can’t find her still?” I jumped as I heard Alpha Wyvern’s voice behind me. Taking a deep breath in, I composed myself and steadied my racing heart.

“You know what happens if you don’t keep your own end of the agreement.” His eyes strayed to where Chloe was standing and my heart raced to a stop.

No, no, no, no. I couldn’t give her away. I just got her back. The familiar feeling of anger and disgust settled in my chest and I tightened my fist.

“I will find that swine with everything in me and she will become yours as agreed.” I vowed. I was not going to let her get away, not after hurting and humiliating me like this in front of another Alpha.

Did she not know that an Alpha’s word was a promise? And he never backed away from it?

I turned to Usher who had somehow found me and snarled. This was all his fault but I was going to come back to that later.

“Secure this entire pack house and make sure you find –” the arrival of one of his men halted my orders. The man stopped beside Usher and whispered something into his ear that made his eyes widen, from here, I could hear the racing of his heart.

When he turned to me, fear filled his eyes. “Lycan Tristan,” he fell on his knees, shaking from head to toe. “My men just reported that someone sighted her running towards the borders. She’s gone!”

My entire body froze. “What?” I gasped, unable to keep my cool. Did she now understand the meaning of what she did? “Who saw her? I asked who saw the Luna run towards the fucking borders.”

“I did.”

I spun around to face the owner of the voice and my heart soared even more. “Helen?”

She nodded. “Yes. I saw her running towards the borders but as you can see, I was too old to stop her so I came to report to you directly.”

Helen was my father’s fated mate but because she had been unable to bear him any child, my father had chosen another mate – my mother – but till his death, he never stopped loving Helen and that was something that always irked me.

Still, I couldn’t do anything to the woman because she was always nice to me. So, why” just why would she lie to me? She knew I should sense her lie, yet she still did it.

Ignoring her, I turned back to Usher and his men. “Search everywhere,” I ordered. “I don’t care how far you have to go or what methods you have to use but make sure you bring her to me. Alive.”

  • Torn From The Bond    War Brews Quietly

Reya's POV. As the sun set below the horizon, tension in air was felt, and long shadows cast across the Lycan Kingdom.... The storm cloud was like a heavy raindrop on our faces, and I could feel the weight of it against Riverdale's very being. The council of King Xander was called out, and I found myself standing beside him, my heart racing. Each of the kingdom's most influential leaders was seated in the room, shouldering the responsibility for all future decisions. Xander's voice echoed through the chamber, "Riverdale has gone beyond their limits," and his words were spoken. We need to be ready for war."The room was filled with murmurs of agreement, but I could sense the tingling emotion of fear. War was never a simple choice, and the consequences would be far-reaching. With a determined look, Xander turned to me and said, "I want you to lead our troops.". Your bravery and determination have earned you a spot on this team, as I trust you to be the right one. "His words caught

  • Torn From The Bond    The King’s Declaration

Reya's POV. The crowd in the grand hall was filled with eagerness. With a blank stare, I watched as Xander approached the dais. His presence was imposing, every move imperceptible, each action commanding. All eyes were on him as the crowd ceased to move. Xander began, "I am not your monarch, but a guardian of righteousness and truth."Murmurs rippled through the assembly. Holding my fists, I sensed the storm was approaching. "Rules and whispers have been circulating that are intended to diminish Luna Reya's honor," Xander stated....". Any criticism of her character is a challenge to the crown's legitimacy."Gasps echoed. My heart pounded. The argument was not solely defensive, but also a declaration of loyalty. My gaze remained fixed on the ground as I advanced. We shook off each other before reaching Xander's eyes.
