Chapter 2: Promoted to Assistant?

The plan this time, they directly confront the TM company. And Harris was selected as the leader of Team B last month won a slot to represent the company to compete for a contract with a rival company. As Harris stepped into the meeting room, he saw Ryan Miller sitting in the middle, slightly tilting his head, chatting with his secretary. Noticing Harris's gaze, he coldly glanced at him, causing Harris's whole body to tremble.

Harris Edison narrowed his eyes, found his place, and sat down. At this point, Harris realized his position was right on Ryan's right hand. Suddenly, he felt goosebumps rise. Harris Edison confusedly stroked the USB in his hand. Fortunately, Clinton did not let him wait long. He quickly brought up a folder and placed the documents on each seat.

"Are you worried?" Suddenly, Harris heard a small voice in his ear. The warm breath made Harris shiver, and he rolled his eyes and turned his head toward the sound.

Somehow, Ryan was standing right behind him. He coldly looked at the plan on the table, his blue pupils devoid of any excess emotion. Harris felt under pressure. He gritted his teeth and shook his head, not even daring to raise his head to look directly into Ryan's face.

"Then why do I see you trembling like that?" Ryan was not happy. He straightened his back and returned to his position: "Looks like you are not as good as rumored."

Pausing a minute, Ryan continued: "You better prepare well, don't miss this contract!"

That sentence was a warning, and Harris Edison temporarily did not know what to say. He wanted to refute it, but it was difficult to open his mouth, and his heart was uncomfortable.

Harris hates most when someone doubts his ability and this person doesn't understand him. All good impressions of Ryan were gone cleanly, no longer admired as before.

Harris wanted the meeting to start quickly, then prove to Ryan how talented he was. Harris's plan was so perfect he believed himself to be able to amuse everyone. Afterward, Harris would throw the contract in Ryan Miller's face, smiling contentedly.

Vera sat next to him, looking at him, puzzled. She wanted to ask, but in the end, she stopped. She was afraid that she would make Harris unhappy, then the presentation plan would fall apart.

The meeting room was already filled with people in no more than five minutes. TM Company sent representatives of five people to participate in this competition, and the opposite, Harris Edison, was his ex-boyfriend, Andy William. Andy acted like he didn't know Harris, the two of them focused on each other.

Harris didn't know Andy would come to this meeting, and if he did, he would let Clinton take his place. Unfortunately, Harris had no other choice. Harris took a deep breath, then stood up, presenting his design.

Harris thought it would be difficult, but he felt the process went very smoothly when the presentation started. Harris seemed to regain his confidence. He passionately talked about every detail of his design. Even when asked by his partner in return, Harris did not flinch in the slightest.

"Thanks for listening; here are all the plans for our company ABC!" Saying that involuntarily, Harris looked over at Ryan. Unfortunately, Ryan didn't notice him. Ryan Miller was reading the plan with his head bowed, occasionally conversing with the partner director sitting next to him.

After that, Harris was no longer in the mood to listen to TM's plans. He absentmindedly propped his chin, his eyes looking far away, without focus. When everyone clapped, Harris realized that the rival company had already finished presenting. Harris took a deep breath, then waited for Ryan to announce the meeting was over.

"We have heard the plans of the two companies of yours." The director of LX company smiled and said, "I will discuss this with the shareholders again, and in three days, we will make an offer to cooperate with one of the two companies."

The three politely shook hands, and then the meeting room was only Ryan, Vera, and Harris. Harris rubbed his hands and was about to leave the conference room when Vera called him back.

"You weren't paying attention just now!" Vera frowned in criticism, saying: "Luckily, the LX company did not pay attention to this. Harris, you need to be more professional!"

"I…" Harris opened his mouth to protest but was interrupted by Vera.

"Don't argue back. I don't blame you, Harris, but I hope you have to…."

Vera wanted to continue blaming but was stopped by Ryan, "Vera, you go back to the office first. I have something to tell Harris."

Vera nodded at that and looked at Harris with a worried look. She intended to scold Harris in front of Ryan so he would ignore Harris's distraction during the meeting. Now, Ryan wants to talk to Harris in private. Did he want to blame Harris?

No matter how worried, Vera could only nod and leave.

Such a large office left only two people, Harris and Ryan. The two looked at each other, making Harris suddenly confused, not knowing what to do. Harris coughed, then decided to cut the strange atmosphere.

"Boss, I wonder if you want me to stay. What's the problem?" Harris faced Ryan's eyes. No matter how he looked, he still saw that Ryan was similar to Mr.R.

Ryan used his fingers, tapping each beat on the table. He didn't answer Harris; on the contrary, he just watched Harris's every move. Ryan stared at his earlobe, and Harris seemed to notice it too and quickly tilted his head. Harris remembers Vera teasing him in the morning, a hickey mark on his earlobe!

Harris blushed. He wanted to cover it up but did not dare. Finally, Harris let go of his hands, straightened, and tried to speak clearly: "If you don't want any further instructions, I..."

"I need a secretary." Ryan suddenly interrupted Harris's words. He raised his hand, stopping Harris from continuing: "Harris, I want to know what you think."

Harris swallowed. He never thought Ryan would say that. He let go of all the previous animosity, pulled up a chair, and sat across from Ryan. Harris crossed his arms, musing for a moment. Ryan did not push. He seemed highly patient and never even took his eyes off Harris.

"You value my talent?" Harris asked in a doubtful tone. Just recently, specifically more than two hours ago, Ryan had expressed doubts about his talent. Ryan is saying he needs a secretary and hinting that that person could be him. Harris is hard to believe. He didn't know why Ryan would think like that.

"I've heard people in the company talk about you. Harris Edison, this year twenty-two, has been in the company for two years. Your university achievements were outstanding. In just two years, you had a certain position in the company. You won some important contracts. And most of all, you're very much appreciated!"

Ryan slowly listed his strengths, and Harris couldn't help but blush. He didn't expect Ryan to say those words, so flattering, but undeniably, he loved hearing these words! Harris covered his lips, preventing Ryan from seeing the smile on his lips.

"You compliment me so much!" Harris said.

Ryan shook his head, his smile showing for the first time, but soon, the smile was replaced with his usual cold face. "I'm not praising you. Harris, could you consider my suggestion for a moment? I believe, for now, this is not a bad suggestion for you."

Harris Edison knew this was not a bad offer. ABC Company has too many talents. He is not the only one, nor is he a special one who attracts other people's attention. Harris can score and bring a lot of profit to the company, but more is needed. Above him, there are many others with better achievements.

Harris nodded, "I'll give it some more thought."

After saying that, the two fell into silence again. Harris could not stand the silence, so he again stood up to say goodbye. This time, Ryan didn't stop him anymore. He nodded and told Harris to leave first. Like that, Harris left the conference room and returned to the office. When Clinton saw him come back in a daze, he couldn't help but ask.

"What's up? Did your boss scold you?" Clinton smiled teasingly. "If your boss scolds you, tell me. I'll go scold the boss for you!"

Always, Clinton is so witty. As long as he says a few words, Harris has to laugh, no matter how sad. A few days ago, because of an argument with her ex-boyfriend, there was never a time when Harris wasn't moody. Clinton saw that and didn't ask much, and he just teased to make Harris feel better. Unfortunately, it's not this time. Harris sighed and shook his head.

"No, he didn't." Harris Edison leaned back and sighed: "I seem to..."

Harris suddenly shut his mouth and did not continue to speak. He suddenly realized that this seemed to be Ryan's internal dispatch. Ryan directly suggested to him without passing any entrance exam. Harris has also worked for two years, and some things do not need to be too frank. Harris Edison smiled and said, "Oh, nothing. I'm just lamenting how intense this afternoon's meeting was!"

Clinton wasn't too trusting, but if Harris didn't want to talk, he wouldn't ask. Clinton smiled spontaneously, focusing again on the data on the screen.

Harris didn't take much notice of Clinton's anomaly, leaning his chin on his phone screen. Harris is being manipulated by the devil and opened the dating site yesterday. Harris then clicked on Mr.R's profile picture, which showed a beautiful, elongated hand holding a glass of wine.

This photo is stolen, without a good angle, but still used by Mr.R. Last night, Harris was stroked and loved countless times by that beautiful hand. The blood in Harris's body rushed to his brain, and he forced himself to calm down. After five minutes, Harris clicked into the dialog box, and inside there was still a message containing the location and time of the meeting.

Harris entered the message and then deleted it again like that for fifteen minutes. The chat screen was still blank.
