Azalia woke up in the comfort of her bed with silky sheets surrounding her. She could feel the warmth of a body behind her, what had to be Melech's arms wrapped around her waist. They had gone to bed late last night. The banquet after her coronation had lasted a long time, but Azalia had had a lot of fun talking with different guests and gossiping with Esther. She had enjoyed watching Esther playing hard to get with the Yarok prince, unlike Yael, who had tried seducing Nehorai the whole evening... without any success. Azalia didn't know how things had ended but she was pretty sure that she had seen Esther and Nehorai disappear together at some point. Esther would have to tell her all the details of what had happened between them the next time they saw each other. Knowing Esther, she already had the Yarok prince wrapped around her finger. The whole kingdom was in a state of pure chaos. For the first time in what had to be hundreds of years, the Adom army had crossed the borders of the Lavan Kingdom. The Adom King's general himself was leading the forces, thus showing how serious the situation was. There had been no attack yet, but the threat was real and a messenger had been sent.The Lavan Kingdom and Adom Kingdom had never been allies, with the sole exception of the time every kingdoms of the land had worked together to seal the Shachor Kingdom hundreds of years ago. It only took a few days for the Adom King to agree to the conditions of Queen Astera. It signed Azalia's departure, the Lavan princess having to leave her kingdom, her family and everything she had ever known.Azalia had been born in the Lavan Kingdom and had almost never left it. It had been a five-day trip by horse, during which they had stopped in different towns each night to sleep. Azalia was grateful for this, since she didn't particularly fancy sleeping under the stars, especially not when surrounded by thousands of enemy soldiers. The inns they stopped in definitely weren't luxurious, but they at least gave her some privacy and comfort.Azalia had kept dreaming more and more about the same man the closer they got to the Adom castle. "What happened?" Emet asked as soon as they entered Azalia's quarters together.It wasn't as spacious and luxurious as the King's quarters but still was impressively big. Expensive furnitures were filling the place, sheets and cushions in white satin covering the large bed in the middle of the room.Azalia went to sat on it, her heart still beating fast inside her chest. Her first encounter with Melech had been intense to say the least. She had been expecting a lot of things, but Melech forcing her to strip and trying to humiliate her hadn't been what she had imagined for their first time seeing each other.It was only her sharp tongue and her iron will that had saved her.
