Chapter 3 Greed

Author: Perfect Timing
I remained in my spot. My eyes were on the empty bottles all around them. Hundreds of them. All I could offer was a silent prayer.

If my father found out these people drank through his precious collection, one that he built for years, he would tear them limb from limb.

A drunk Harold wobbled up to us. Behind him were the disgruntled schoolmates.

"Are you deaf, Wendy? You're a lowly housekeeper's girl! Queenie's the heiress here, so you do as she says! Get us our order now!"

"Yeah, if you laze around and ruin Harold's birthday party, Queenie's going to make sure your mother's fired! You'll be homeless and on the streets!"

The watch on Harold's hand was gone, replaced by a watch made of pure gold. It was as thick as a wrist.

A limited-edition Rolls-Royce key hung from his waist. This man was not shy to show off his money.

No wonder people respected him. Queenie probably spent more than a million on him. That made me laugh. No wonder she wanted to extract more money from me.

"Sorry, milady. I barely have 200 for myself every month. I can't pay for anything. Fire my mom if you want to. I'll tell her to move out right now. She can quit this job."

I spun, but someone yanked my hair.

"Don't you take that attitude, Wendy. Don't talk to Queenie like that, you filthy housekeeper spawn!"

Harold. His eyes were coated in venom, and they were locked on my face. "I could've dated Queenie, but you stole her identity and tricked me! I'll let you know your place!"

He gave his order, and a dozen lackeys came pinning me down. With horror, I looked at them as they approached me. I thrashed and struggled. "Let me go! Are you out of your mind?"

Harold grinned evilly and slapped me across the face. "I'll teach you a lesson, you filthy servant!"

The slaps fell like rain, and they hit my face. Blood trickled down my mouth. Queenie was watching the show. She was not going to lift a finger to help.

She sighed. "I've let you run free far too much, Wendy. Seems I've spoiled you. A lesson will do you good. That'll teach you who the real heiress is."

The world around me was spinning. I shouted for the butler. I wanted these people out of the house. Then, I realized that the servants were all dismissed. No one could help me.

Guess a lot had changed in this place while I was boarding.

Half an hour later, Harold was tired out, and he stopped hitting me. Then, his greedy eyes fell on my diamond necklace. "No way that's yours! You stole from someone, didn't you?"

His eyes gleamed with avarice, and he tried to yank the necklace off me. My neck was creaking in pain. I shouted, "Let go! My mom left me that!"

He did not believe me. Instead, he slammed his foot into my chest and spat at me. "Your mom? With how little she makes, she can never afford something this fancy. I bet you stole it while Queenie wasn't looking!"

He grabbed a knife from the kitchen and tried to cut the necklace up and take it from me. This was the only thing my mother left me before she died. I would never give it to anyone!

I fought and tussled and struggled. Fine, if I were to die here, so be it.

But then, someone at the entrance gasped. "What are you doing? Stop right now!"

My dad's aura kept everyone in check. It scared them, but Harold? In his infinite foolishness, he kept on yelling at my father. "Who are you, you bastard? Not the first time I beat this bitch up! You think you can protect your loser daughter? Well, think again."Arrogance came with a price. This time, it came swiftly for Harold. My dad pulled his arm and slammed him into the ground with a suplex. It took the wind out of his lungs, and he could not get back up.The others tried to dispense justice, but the bodyguards around made them shut up. My father was shaking with rage, and he drove his shoes hard into Harold's fingers.Coldly, he said, "Not the first time you hit my daughter? My daughter? William Wood's daughter? Tell me, what happened while I was gone?"The mention of my father's name snapped everyone out of it."William Wood? But that's the CEO of Wood Group!""Whoa, he looks exactly the same as this picture!""But why'd he call himself Wendy's dad?""I mean, Queenie did

"What?"Queenie's and Helena's jaws dropped. Even Harold froze up."What? Queenie would never do that! This is a mistake!"Queenie couldn't believe what she was hearing either. She screamed at the top of her lungs, "I'm the daughter of this city's richest man! I don't need to do any cyber scams for money! Are you blind? This is a mistake!"The cop showed her the refund history that all the merchants provided, as well as her shopping app account details."These are the refunds you requested right after your spending. You did not return any item. The amount is nearly 4.5 million. We'll need you to come with us."Queenie and Helena looked at me right away. They roared at me, "You did this, didn't you? Are you mad! How dare you do this to me!"I stared at them with as innocent a look as I could muster, and I held back my laugh. It was hard doing that, you know. Nearly killed me."Do what? I'm a housekeeper's daughter. I couldn't afford 45 hundred, let alone a 4.5-million refund sca

I stared at Queenie with eyes wide as saucers. The people around us were shaken as well."Wait, Wendy's the housekeeper's daughter, and her father's Queenie's dad? Holy shit, this is drama!"The class, like me, had eyes wide as saucers. I was gaping at the mother-daughter duo. Queenie was looking back at me smugly. Patiently, she explained, "Yeah, my father sired her with the housekeeper. But the slut's mother seduced him. She's a bastard. If she'd known her place, I'd have given her a job as my servant. At least she could've survived, but no. She chose the hard way, so I must teach her a lesson."Then, she continued talking to my dad over the phone. "You have to come back, Dad. Back me up!"My father was furious. He hung up without saying a word. Queenie thought that was my dad agreeing to her plan, and she bragged to me. "See? My dad's coming home, and you're done for!"She was snarling at me fiercely, but unbeknownst to her, Helena looked like she was about to cry. She scramble

Helena was storming up to me in a huff. My father told his bodyguards to throw her out of the house and talked to all the rich people about the things she did. Now no one wanted to hire her.Still, she would not dare to confront me. Before my father left, he specifically told her to take good care of me. She thought that order made her some sort of elder to me, and that made her imperious. Authoritative.Despite being the housekeeper, she made me cook, clean, do the dishes, and finish all the chores around the house. I had enough of her, but I did not want to have a fallout, so I started living on campus.Perhaps the weak version of me made her confident, so she tried to slap me. I shoved her off. "You're angry, Mrs. Wood. Had a bad morning? I'm just a housekeeper's girl. Did I do anything to set you off?"Helena fell to the ground and gasped like she'd strained her back. Queenie slid over to her mother and gave me a vengeful glare. "Are you mad, Wendy? How dare you push my mother!

Shame Queenie and Harold had no idea. They showed off their love story on socials and posted a ton of honeymoon vlogs. One of Queenie's posts read, "Thank you for finding me among 7 billion people. Harold. Now I know what happiness is like. I can walk the sands of Bardoque Islands with my love. I can watch the aurora borealis of Northern Point. "If I wanted to sunbathe, I could get a whole cruise ship and have a vacation there. I could get a whole cabinet of limited-edition handbags and get dear Harold a big villa as our wedding gift."Harold left a loving comment. It read, "I finally knew what love was like when I saw you. I love you forever, Queenie."The classmates saw the post, and everyone grew envious."I wish a sugar mama would take a liking to me. I envy Harold.""I thought the proposal was wild enough. This is wilder. I hope I get this chance one day.""Harold's rich, but Queenie's richer. Man, he's set for life."They weren't the only ones who wanted that life. The I

I raised my head. Helena Zimmerman was back. She was the housekeeper. And my housekeeper was covered in precious items from head to toe. She could pass as a rich man's wife.Queenie lifted the hem of her skirt and approached her mother. She said cutely, "You're back early, Mom."Harold and his friends stepped aside and said hi to Helena. "Hello, Mrs. Wood."I sneered and spat a mouthful of blood. "Mrs. Wood? I had no idea my father remarried."Half a year. That was how long my father had left, and now these people were trying to steal this family's wealth.I was lying on the ground, hurt and bruised. A hint of guilt flickered in Helena's eyes, but she put on a stern mask."Do not take that attitude with me, girl. You're nothing but a housekeeper's spawn." She turned around and looked at Queenie lovingly. "Queenie, how many times must I tell you not to stoop to a slut's level. You are an heiress. Act the part. Well, you've done what you wanted to her. Now toss that little slut out
