019 She Got The Alpha's Heart

"From what I know, you took in Evelyn after you lost your pack," Raymond frowned, nailing his eyes on Noah White.

"We lost our pack to the war," Noah White closed his eyes, "and James Black only declared that war because of Evelyn."

"But we couldn't leave her there," Sarah added after Noah White, "she's suffered enough before we found her, so..."

Raymond pursed his lips.

He didn't even do anything to Evelyn before the Whites disowned her like she was some kind of disease, and now they were saying that they abandoned their home for her?

"Please, Alpha Raymond," Noah White had his right fist over his heart, showing his loyalty and respect, "can you please take us in?"

"I seem to remember telling you to get out of my city if I don't see both of your daughters today," Raymond sneered coldly. Though he already found Evelyn, he wasn't gonna let a nobody like Noah White challenge his words.

"I'm terribly sorry about that, Alpha Raymond!" Noah jumped up and pulled out his phone, "She WILL be here, I promise!!"

"No need to rush," Raymond waved his hand indifferently before he stood up and walked toward Ava, "while we are waiting, I was wondering if I can have a small chat with you?"

"Oh my..." Ava's eyes brimmed with joy and surprise, "Me? Really?"

She knew the man from the legend was handsome and hot, but only today she knew how far the rumors failed to deliver how true it was. She never thought he would even talk to her, not to mention in this tender and gentle way!

Sarah cleared her throat lightly and the smile on Ava's face faded a little -- she heard the warning in her mother's voice.

"Of course, I'd be honored, Alpha." Ava stood up, nearly throwing herself into Raymond's chest, but Raymond took a step back and kept his distance.

"Can I have a quick word with my daughter though?" Sarah came up to Raymond as they headed out.

"I'll wait for you in the backyard," Raymond nodded and left.

Walking on the lane in the backyard, Raymond saw the huge belltower in his new school, and a smile crawled onto his lips as his eyes moved to the window facing that direction--

No wonder Evelyn looked into his school, Raymond chuckled to himself, the bell tower DID ruin the view.

But then he stopped, frowning when he realized what he was doing--

He had never been into anyone, in fact, he himself was convinced that he was mateless, it was almost like Sisyphus can't love. But that night was different. Sure, he was under sex drugs, but he knew she turned him on. He felt his heart beating for her, and he had been so excited ever since -- or even, nervous -- to meet Ava.

But now when he finally had, all the feelings were gone, and all he could think about was a tiny small thing Evelyn mentioned days ago?!

Across the garden, inside the kitchen, Sarah grabbed Ava on her arm hard with an anxious look while Ava gazed at Raymond's figure with smitten eyes.

"Are you listening to me?!" Sarah hissed at Ava under her breath with an anxious tone, "It's all Evelyn's fault, so do NOT tell Alpha Raymond you were there in the club that night! This has nothing to do with you! You ARE innocent!"

Ava wanted to deliver the contract, and Sarah stopped her without letting Ava know her real plan, but Ava followed Evelyn to the club anyway.

She just didn't let Sarah know.

"This wouldn't have happened if you let me deliver the contract to Raymond," Ava snorted with an indifferent tone.

Sarah only told Ava that Evelyn messed up with Raymond badly, but not the drug part.

"He's here for revenge!" Sarah snapped at her naive-eyed daughter, "I drugged him through Evelyn's hand, and made him have sex with Evelyn!"

"What?!" Ava opened her eyes wildly with shock. Instead of understanding the danger they were in, jealousy filled Ava.

Ava followed Evelyn secretly that night out of jealousy, but then Raymond and Evelyn left in a hurry, and Ava only found Raymond again when he was talking to Theo in front of a room--

Room 207.

Now she knew what Raymond was doing there that night.

He was doing Evelyn!

"Why did you let her do it?"Ava pouted, wronged tears brimming her eyes, "Is it because...that she's your real daughter, and I'm just a mistake?"

That was Ava's biggest fear ever since she found out that she wasn't the White daughter -- she was afraid that they would abandon her, and there was no way she would give up her luxurious life to let Evelyn be the princess she was born to be!

That was why Ava had been trying to make Evelyn look bad in front of her parents.

"Of course not! My silly little wolf..." Sarah sighed and softened her voice, "what gibberish do you have in that little brain of yours?"

"You helped Evelyn get the most handsome and powerful Alpha!" Ava pouted and real tears burst out of her when jealousy in her chest burnt her so badly, "I want Raymond, too! I have a huge crush on him ever since we moved here!"

"You can have him if you want, baby," Sarah pulled Ava into her arms and petter Ava's hair gently, "you can have anyone you want when your magic wakes up because when that happens, the whole world would kneel at your feet!"

"You always say that I have magic in me, but it just won't wake up..." Ava asked in a timid murmur, watching Sarah with fear in her eyes, "Will you love Evelyn more than me because of that?"

"You are more powerful than she will ever be, silly," Sarah smiled patiently, "and no, I would never love Evelyn more than you. You are my daughter, you are the little cutie that I loved and nurtured for 18 years, aren't you?"

Ava gave Sarah a bright smile.

"But what if my magic never wakes up?" Ava dragged Sarah's cloth and shook it with a clinging pout, "Will you still love me?"

Sarah's look froze into an angry frown.

"Mom?" Ava murmured, turning back into the timid girl.

Sarah spoiled Ava with whatever Ava wanted for the past 18 years. She never even raised her hand at Ava, nor would she allow anyone to make Ava upset. Ava was a spoiled little princess, well, most of the time--

There was one thing Ava never dares touch -- the possibility of her not having magic.

That question only slipt out of her tonight by accident, and instantly Sarah's look turned cold.

Ava never understood it.

Sarah told Ava her birth mom was a powerful witch, and her father was also one of the most powerful Alpha. There was great blood washing through your veins -- Sarah would often tell Ava.

Sometimes Ava felt like Sarah cared about her magic more than her.

But Ava knew Sarah loved her -- because even though most mage's magic wakes up in their childhood, Sarah never showed any impatience nor worry when Ava's magic still hasn't woken up even when she turned 18 months ago.

Even Ava felt like she was only a werewolf, but Sarah just had this strong faith that her magic would wake up one day.

"I'm sorry, mom," Ava quickly amended her slip of the tongue, "I will work harder than I ever have and wake up my magic as soon as possible!"

"Don't be too hard on yourself," Sarah smiled, stroking Ava's face as if that awkward moment didn't happen, "it will happen when it happens."

"You are the best mom!" Ava hugged Sarah with a genuine smile.

"Just remember, you weren't there at the club that night, okay?" Sarah glanced at Raymond's figure with worried eyes, "Tell him that Evelyn has left us and is no longer a White; tell him that we will help him catch Evelyn if needed!"

"He seemed friendly enough," Ava mumbled, smitten eyes pasted on Raymond.

Her hand still felt burnt where Raymond's lips touched her. She remembered how he gazed into her eyes when he asked to talk to her, gentleman-like, and how he constantly pays attention to her throughout dinner.

"Actually, he did seem friendly to you..." Sarah bit her lips, her worried eyes darted to Raymond out there, "Maybe he can feel the power inside you, and is taking an interest in you."

"You think?!" Ava's eyes glittered brightly at that possibility.

"I don't know, but..." Sarah mumbled to herself before she made up her mind, "If you can put in a word for us, do it. Maybe he would take us in for your sake."

Ava blushed at that thought. Raymond Reid?! The god-like man might have an interest in her?!

"I will get us into his pack," Ava curved her lips, her eyes pasted on Raymond's figure in the garden like a predator, "I'll complete the mission that Evelyn couldn't do."
