~Camelia POV~

“Are you okay?” Luke asked as we walked down the hallway toward the exit of the house.

I nodded, looking over my shoulder to check if Asher was still there, but we had already passed the hallway and I couldn’t see clearly anymore.

A chill ran down my spine when I remembered the way Asher had spoken, like he remembered everything that had happened that night, the night I couldn’t fully remember.

And the fact that he looked exactly like Luke made a knot form in my stomach. I couldn’

~ Camelia POV ~I flipped through the file on my desk, confirming the figures matched the display on my monitor before I closed the folder and dropped it next to the rest of the stack. It had been a peaceful morning since I came to work. I felt relieved that I hadn't run into Asher or Luke in the corridors. I rested my back against the chair, staring at the screen one last time before I clicked off the page and grabbed the files from the desk.I made my way out of the office and headed toward Mira's desk to hand them over. After a light knock on the glass pane, I heard her low voice call out to me."Please come in," she said.I grabbed the metal handle and pushed open the door. Mira was typing something in haste as I walked into the office. She barely looked in my direction until I reached the front of her desk. Only then did she stop and look up."I'm done with the reviews, and here are the files," I told her, placing the folders on her desk."Okay," she said. Her gaze drifted back t

~ Asher POV ~I took a long drag from the cigarette in my hand, exhaling the smoke into the air. On any normal day, I would have relaxed and enjoyed the quiet moment, but all it did now was make the fire burning in my chest burn even hotter.I tapped the loose ash into the steel tray on the table, grinding the glowing tip against the metal until the spark died. I tossed the cigarette butt aside, but nothing I did could clear the anger from my mind.I had truly believed that whatever Luke and Camelia were doing was just a game. A fake engagement to get our parents off his back and stop them from forcing him to marry Gwen. But yesterday changed everything. I had been walking down the hall when I overheard their quiet conversation through the door. The words had been stuck in my head ever since, repeating on a loop.I stood from the couch and marched over to the floor-to-ceiling window, staring out at the gray New York skyline. My hands balled into tight fists, my knuckles turning white.

  • Trapped Between Two Brothers    Chapter 46

~ Cameila POV ~My heart was literally thumping in my chest and I didn't know for which reason, the fact that he was extremely close to me with his hand wrapped around my waist like he owns me or the fact that what he has said was with so much seriousness. "What?" I almost shouted and instead of him realizing how tense he had made me, he lifted his hand and tucked a loose strand of my hair behind my ear, making a shiver run through my entire body. "It's a fake wedding of course," he added like he didn't meant to. "If we can get the media to take that and published it, then they would have no choice but to accept it." I opened my mouth to say something but couldn't bring myself to do it, because of how close he was to me. I shifted a little and he noticed and release his hand from my waist."If it makes you uncomfortable, we can find another way," he said, stepping back."I don't think I can do this anymore," the words left my mouth before I could stop them.Luke froze. His gaze sna

~ Camelia POV ~A soft gasp escaped my lips. My heart beat so loud and fast against my ribs I was sure the thumping vibrated right through his shirt. Luke wrapped his strong arms around my waist, trapping me flat against him. His eyes were still half-closed, but our faces were so close I could feel the warm, steady rush of his breath against my skin.“Luke... I need to leave,” I whispered, my palms pressing against his shoulders as I tried to push myself up. I forced my eyes to look at the headboard, warning myself not to glance at his lips or notice how solid his chest felt beneath me.He didn’t answer with words. When I finally looked down, his dark eyes were wide open, staring straight into mine. He released one hand from my waist, lifting it slowly to tuck a loose strand of my hair behind my ear. Before I could use the freedom to slide off the bed, his fingers tangled deep in the back of my hair. He tilted my head down, closing the remaining distance until his lips pressed firmly

~ Camelia POV ~"We are almost there," I mumbled, shifting Luke’s arm more securely over my shoulder. The elevator doors chimed and slid open, revealing a wide foyer. The layout was almost identical to Asher’s apartment, but the design was different, darker, sleek, and filled with custom wood and stone. It made me wonder for a brief second which of the Stone brothers actually held more wealth."Thank you, Camelia," Luke breathed out, his head hanging low.I guided him across the floor and helped him lower his body onto the deep cushions of the couch. The moment his weight left me, I collapsed right onto the seat next to him, letting out a long breath of relief.Getting him from the car, through the garage, and up the private elevator had taken every bit of strength I had.Luke rested his head back against the plush armrest, his thick eyelashes casting dark shadows on his cheekbones as his eyes closed.Even with his hair messy and his collar unbuttoned, he looked incredibly handsome. I

~ Camelia POV ~I brushed a loose strand of hair behind my ear as I stepped out of the car, turning to the driver who had come around to open the door for me."Thank you for the ride," I said softly. "Tell Mr. Stone I said thank you."He nodded before walking back to the vehicle. My gaze lingered on the driveway as I stared at the house, trying to brush off what Anya had said to me earlier. She didn't have a hold over my happiness. Becca had spent the entire car ride making sure I didn't forget that, right up until the driver dropped her off at the curb in front of Jerry's house. I let out a soft breath to calm my racing thoughts before walking toward the keypad. I punched in my passcode and stepped into the dark house. The living room was completely quiet, reminding me of how Becca usually kept the place lively with her constant gist. Now, I was left entirely alone with my thoughts.I dropped my bag on the table in front of me and sank into the couch, resting my head against the cush

~ Asher POV ~My gaze lingered on the cigarette in my hand before I lit it, bringing it to my lips to take a long, deep drag.As the heat hit my lungs, my mind immediately spun back to last night at the party. I could still see the exact way Camelia stood in the crack of that door, watching me. She

  • Trapped Between Two Brothers    Chapter 38

~ Camelia POV ~ I tried to stay still, forcing my mind away from how Luke would react to me being late. I could have easily made up an excuse, but that was impossible with Asher dropping me off. My palms grew sweaty. I couldn't tell if it was from the nerves or because my body was still reeling

~ Camelia POV ~"Camelia, do you plan on sleeping all day?"Becca's voice cut through my sleep. I groaned reaching across the nightstand for my phone. My head hurt, and my eyes were barely open. But the second I saw the time flashing on the screen, I jumped out of bed."Shit," I muttered as I rushe

~ Camelia POV ~I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear, my fingers shaking a little as I stood beside Becca on the dark curb, staring down the empty street while we waited for the cab. No matter how hard I tried to stay calm, I couldn't stop thinking about what I had just seen.A deep heat s
