AIDEN

As Selena uttered the dreaded words, my heart sank to the pit of my stomach and I didn't know why. "I want a divorce," she repeated more firmly, looking at me with a resolute expression on her face as she removed her hand from mine placing it to her side.

I adjusted on the bed sitting up properly as I could feel my stitch hurting me like it was ripping apart.

I knew she had been unhappy in our sham of a marriage for a while, I knew she was unhappy about everything that had to do with me and my family, I knew that since she had been with me things had not exactly been rosy for her.

It wasn't also rosy for me having to deal with breaking up with Natalia and hatching a plan to take over my father's company but she didn't deserve to suffer for my past mistakes and future endeavors.

I knew she wanted us to go our separate ways as soon as possible, I also didn't want this marriage at first but hearing her say it out loud still came as a shock to me.

I had been so busy trying to take
