Chapter Twenty-three

Monica Smithfield’s last hearing would come about tomorrow. Kayla would finally say goodbye to the days of seeing Alfred Seong-Hun in court —days of Alfred giving her cruel smirks each time their eyes met —days of Madison yelling in every end of the day. The days of seeing Dominic everywhere she looked, too.

Kayla was in her bedroom study, playing these days in her mind, tapping her pen on the table. She hadn't struggled for concentration like she was doing then, she drowned in thoughts about Anthony's health and whereabouts. After the night she found him on the couch, three days had rolled past without a trace of him. Where on earth was he? Callous when she asked him said Anthony travelled to Honolulu for business, and would be back at anytime. Anytime was uncertain.

While Anthony would return at anytime, she'd be in the cinema with Corey, chilling out as she prepared for tomorrow. To reduce suspicion, Kayla tagged her extrovert friend Imani along. Corey agreed that Imani joined them
