ADELINA'S POV My brain was lagging behind. What was going on here? Was Petra related to Lawrence and Casper? That would explain the similarities I always noticed. "What are you doing here Adel?" Lawrence asked, sounding a bit amused or rather confused. Petra grabbed my hand, staring between us, then her mouth fell agape. "Wait, don't tell me you know each other." She gushed, and I slowly nodded my head. "No fucking way. That's just crazy but I will still do the introduction." She said excitedly then pulled me forward towards the couch "Mum, Dad, this is my friend Adelina, whom I spoke about. The smart ass of the department and my roommate." She introduced. They were truly her parents. I knew her parents were in their fifties or at most late forties, but the couple that sat in front of me looked to be in their late thirties. Good genes that was all I could say. "Good evening Mr and Mrs Mondlicht. I am glad I finally met you. Petra has said a lot of good things
ADELINA'S POV The day was almost perfect, and Petra gave me a thorough tour of the city. She knew everywhere, surprisingly I even got a tour of the palace from afar, of course. It was a very grand building, even Buckingham Palace didn't come close. By the time night drew close my entire body was exhausted and drained. Having fun was exhausting? We got a complete makeover and spa date, and even shopped for dresses because Petra wanted me to attend a family event. We went to so many places that I even lost track at a point. The car drove into a large compound that housed a luxurious villa in a quiet neighbourhood of Raven City. It was already late in the evening by the time we arrived. The evening sky blended with my ginger hair that sparkled under the soft sun rays like I had weaves of gold on my head. "Dear goddess Selene, I am so spent." Petra groaned after she got down from the bolt. We stood at the main entrance, and not so surprisingly, some servants were
ADELINA'S POV I haven't caught sight of Mikhail since I recovered. Nora informed me I was relieved from duty to recover. Today was the founders' festival, a large event celebrated in Lunaria. Since I had some free time I decided to spend the day with Petra. We had agreed to meet up that day. My mood was a bit crappy today, deep down I knew what the reason was. My footsteps echoed as I made my way down the stairs. On getting to the foot of the stairs, a voice stopped me, which made my shoulders shudder. "Where are you going, Miss Marino?" Casper's voice asked from behind me. He appeared like a ghost. I wasn't expecting him to be around the villa. He is supposed to be busy. I glanced over my shoulders to meet those similar hazel eyes that reminded me of Petra. "I didn't know I was being held captive here. Since I have some free time I felt it was suitable to visit the city." I explained hiding the slight sarcasm I am sure he sensed. He arched his brows at m
ADELINA'S POV The breeze blew through my hair, and I stood close to the edge of a cliff, staring at the moon. It looked beautiful. My head was a jumble and everything was mixing together. I didn't know how I got here, and there was only one explanation: it was a dream. At the edge of the cliff, there was a familiar figure I could never mistake. She stood there, the wind blowing through her hair, her face pale. "Mum," my voice was soft and filled with disbelief. She smiled at me, her hand beckoning me to come close. My eyes stung tears threatening to fall. I missed her so much that she was visiting me in my dreams. "Come, Lina, don't you want to give Mummy a hug?" She said sweetly. The tears continued to pour, and the longing for her motherly warmth filled me. Next thing I knew my feet were running towards her. Before I could hold her, a growl rang from behind me, drawing my attention. Mum disappeared before my eyes, stunned I turned around to see the largest
MIKHAIL'S POV I have never seen Raphael so scared before, a gamma naturally was the strongest warrior in the pack but he was shaking like a leaf before me. My hand clenched my expression unreadable. Casper stood by the side with a blank expression, waiting for Raphael to finish speaking. We were the only ones in the room. This was a special room with a sound barrier making it impossible even for shifters with the sharpest ears to eavesdrop on our conversation. "I have checked, there wasn't any breach at the border," Raphael said, sweat beads formed on his forehead, and he was barely holding himself together from facing my rage. I hardly lost control but being attacked in my pack that was meant to be the safest place set baring alarms in my head "Any idea who might have hired them? If they aren't from outside it can only mean they are residents of Raven Creek." I asked, and Raphael glanced at Casper. Casper drew in a deep breath, "I believe Duncan is the bigg
MIKHAIL'S POV The storm faded with the night but it wasn't over for me. I had dug my own grave, what was I thinking suggesting to warm her skin to skin? She was so close, completely bare, but I dared not touch her. She was just an assistant, I should not care much if she was suffering from a fever, but that was a lie, even I didn't believe it. "They escaped," I heard one of my warriors' voices in my mind through the mindlink. The assassins escaped, and my tongue clicked irritably. At least the imminent danger was gone. "Contact Beta Casper and Gamma Raphael immediately. I want them in the villa before I get there and also get me some warm blankets." "Yes Alpha, I will get right on it." The attack was over, my men fought the other party but they used the advantage of the rain to escape. Their scents could not be tracked. It explained one thing, which was that they knew the routes. They were not strangers to Raven Creek Park, but if that is the case, why would
