THE BOSS

The man she saw at the end of the table looked like a character from a novel. His face looked as if it was crafted by God himself giving him the beauty of more than a hundred people. He had strong jaws and long smooth silky hair that dropped down his neck touching his shoulders. He looked tall, even seated, and was dressed in an expensive 3-piece black suit. As he spoke, he spoke brightly and boldly, there was an accent in his words she couldn't quite place but she was too stunned by his beauty to even speak.

"Hello there, I'm Alexander, what is your name and what were you doing half dead by the shore where I rescued you from ?"

She was silent.

He asked again in his deep baritone voice "What is your name?"

This time, she decided to reply and said, "I am Roselyn, why have you kidnapped me? Why are we on a yacht? Where are you taking me to? "

Alexander beckoned on her to have a seat and dismissed the two ladies that were in the room.

"Who exactly are you to accuse me of kidnapping you? If you know you're not hungry and would like to ask very silly questions, you can take your leave. I'll ask Gato to return you to the room where you were held. " Alexander replied furiously.

Roselyn looked at the perfectly set table, imagined how nice the food would taste, and knew that if she did not eat now, she might die of hunger. So in silence, she decided to sit.

As she sat directly opposite him with a long table in between them, Alexander looked at her, she was a medium-height lady with a very pretty face. Now that she didn't look tattered, he saw that she had an oblong face with full lips and long blonde hair that reached her back. She looked pretty but he knew she wasn't just pretty, she was stubborn. The white silky gown she wore was gorgeous on her and it fitted her perfectly like it was made for just her.

On the table, there were varieties of fruits and food in small bowls and plates, they all looked very good and yummy. She also saw bottles of wine and other fruit juices. She settled for the meal right in front of her and took a few spoons at first, then she scooped in hungrily.

Had it been she wasn't hungry, she would have happily rejected his food and made her escape out of his yacht. She had hate in her heart for him, she hadn't liked the way he had talked to her but she had made him angry. But still, no one had ever talked to her in that manner. She needed all the energy she could get so she hurriedly ate in silence.

Alexander watched as she ate hurriedly and shook his head in disdain. What manner of a girl was this? He remembered how she had been found and rescued. He had seen her half dead by the shore of the sea left to die, face down in the sand. He had looked around to see if he would see the person who had dumped her there but he did not so he picked her up and put her in his yacht where he nursed her back to health. She had a lot of bruises on her body.

He couldn't wait to get back to the dock and let her be on her way. He had done the little he could for her, he had helped her when he saw her almost dead and he had only done that because his mother always told him to help people when he could. Moreover, she looked like she was going to die without his help.

"When you're done eating, inform Gato to take you to a room you can sleep. We should reach the docks in two days and you can take your leave." Alexander said and left.

She wasn't sure what to believe, her memories that had gaps in them or this stranger who claimed to have rescued her. After a few more bites, she announced that she was done eating. Gato entered the room and told her to follow him.

She needed to think, she needed to think well because something was wrong, she had to remember the gaps in her memory and she had to do that fast. So as Gato led her to the room she had formerly dressed in, she shut the door and went straight to sit and think. She remembered that she passed out after the pain in her neck, but what happened after?! She thought hard, tried to think about it but she couldn't remember. So she went to the bed, laid down, and continued thinking about what had happened and how she ended up on the shore Alexander saw her.

She woke up a few hours later and realized while thinking, she had slept off. She still did not remember the past when she passed out at the store, but she had dreamt, she had dreamt of some horrible things and it looked like those things had happened to her. She had been in a dark room the only source of light that illuminated the room dangled above her head and in the room, she was bounded at her wrists and ankles, she was sitting on a chair and a camera was in front of her.

She was being held for something. Something that needed her face. Why had they set the camera on her? She did not know in the dream, what exactly they wanted. They had beaten her badly and her body was covered in bruises. Could that have happened to her? She checked her body and scars of past bruises still showed on them. With no idea of how those bruises got there, she started to realize the dream she had wasn't just a dream, it was a memory.

The memories rushed to her, she had awoken in a room after she passed out at the store, and she had woken tied to a chair. With her wrists and ankles tied to the chair. Two men were in the room with her, they looked hefty and built, and they were holding whips.

The first man said "Look, she's awake. Let's do what we need to do and be done with it."

The second man replied, "Oh yeah, T, let's do it."

The two of them came at her at once and told her to face the camera and read the note they had written. The content of the note was absurd. She remembered the note read thus: "DAD, MUM, I HAVE BEEN KIDNAPPED. FOR MY CAPTORS TO SET ME FREE, THEY WANT YOU TO BRING 50 MILLION DOLLARS TO THE SOUTH BRIDGE TOMORROW BY 6 PM, IF YOU INFORM THE POLICE, YOU SHALL RECEIVE ME IN PIECES." The content of the note was pure blackmail, they had kidnapped her to extort money from her parents! They had known her parents were rich and where she was going to be at the time they kidnapped her from the store.

Seeing the whip in each of the men's hands, she feared they would use it on her so she immediately did as they instructed. She faced the camera reading the note and hoped her parents will call the police and rescue her in time. The men who kidnapped her seemed like amateurs and the information about the police seemed like an empty threat. After they were done filming the video, they left the room and gave her pieces of bread with a bottle of water, she struggled to get something in even though her hands were still tied. And then she remembered that she saw a scrap of metal on the floor. She was going to cut the rope at her wrist with the metal scrap and escape. But how could she get to the metal scrap all tied up? She had to help herself because no one was coming to help her so she fell to the ground as quietly as she could and kept rolling till she reached the metal scrap. After many attempts, she was able to free her hands and her legs. She moved very close to the door and heard the men talking outside the room. They were standing watch outside and it looked like one of them was talking to someone on the phone. She figured sooner or later, they might leave the door and in hopes of that, she went back to where she formerly was and tried to think about possible scenarios of her escape.
