It wasn't what I expected the place to look like. It wasn't just a normal date, it was a business meeting and I was his date, his trophy wife, one he could show off to his hungry-looking friend. “Shit!” I muttered when I almost tripped, and he squeezed my hand lightly, staring at me. “Are you okay?” He asked and I rolled my eyes. Why was he acting like he cared all of a sudden, I adjusted my dress looking away. “You don’t have to act like you care we both know you don’t give a fuck about me, this is just a facade, to deceive your gullible and evil friends.” “Maybe, but then it’s better you behave yourself or I won’t hesitate to waste you here!” I stiffened immediately; something about his tone told me he was serious. Was he earnest? So I wasn’t even safe here? “And do not drink anything here or you might end up with your father!” He added. Shit! That was insulting but necessary. I was going to pour myself a glass of tequila to maybe loosen up and force a smile but now he had warned me against it I kept my hands to myself and stayed close to him like flies attracted to bad meat while I watch his numerous friends greet us, I maintained a fake smile that hurt my face so bad but I had other plans in mind. I was going to escape! I don’t care how, but I’d make it happen. It was a luxurious party filled with so many strange faces, there is no way in hell Marcello would notice me slipping out. My eyes scanned the room, everyone was present with their significant other but the men all had fat smoke on their hands and the ladies looked sophisticated and fake. I bet half of them were married against their own will. “Let’s sit here,” Marcello led me to a table where we sat opposite one another not saying anything but watching, he was frequently checking his time as though he couldn't wait to leave. “Of course!” I said with my hands wrapped around myself, he leaned close, his breath warm against my ear. “Stop acting like you don’t belong, act like you’re the wife of Marcello Ricci." “Well, I don’t want to be!” I said trying hard not to yell at his face, he retreated with a defeated smile spreading on his face. Good! He was disappointed, that was what I wanted! “Marcello Ricci!” I heard a familiar voice call out, I turned to see Stefan approaching us, damn! He seemed well, just a few scars on his neck where Marcello had stabbed him. “I thought I would never see you again, mate.” “What do you want?” Marcello retorted, keeping a cold look on his face. “I wanted to see how Gabriella is holding up, judging by the fact that you killed her father,” he said, his voice rising so he caught the attention of the people in the hall but Marcello didn’t seem threatened, instead he held my hand firmly and kissed it. “As you can see she’s holding up quite alright, but I can’t say the same about you, because I almost killed you the last time!” He growled and Stefan broke out in a manic laughter, yet I could hear the angry edge of it. “I’d never forgive you for what you did to me!” “I don’t need your forgiveness!” Stefan nodded and then winked at me before storming off, Three men in black followed him. “I need to use the restroom!” I blurted out, Marcello shot me an icy gaze. “You have five minutes.” I nodded, “Of course, I’ll be back in no time!” As I stood he held my hands, “Don’t even think of escaping, you can’t leave without this!” He held out a golden card, the invitation card, shit! He was always two steps ahead and that sickened me to the belly. What do I do now? “Yeah, I know that!” I pushed past people and headed straight to the restroom. As soon as the door closed behind me I leaned against the sink staring at myself in the mirror. I was even lankier than I thought! “What do I do now? “ I thought to myself. He said it himself, I couldn't leave without a card. I gripped the sink as an idea came into mind. What if I steal a card? I smiled to myself, stepping out of the restroom just to bump into a tall hunk. “I’m so sorry,” he apologized. “It’s alright!” I smiled at him, genuinely captivated by his blue eyes, but my eyes caught something else, a gun, he was holding a gun, I stiffened immediately, we were both alone in this place, and I was the only one who had walked in, so it wasn’t safe. “What’s your name, pretty?” He asked, his eyes scanning over me as if I were some prey. “None of your business!” I retorted, trying to walk away My time was limited and I had only one chance to steal a ticket from someone else, someone unarmed. He pushed me back, “You don’t walk out on me! Do you know who I am?” “To be honest, I don’t really care, so please let me leave.” “Not so fast,” he groaned, pinning me against the cold wall, I struggled to wriggle out of his grip but he was too strong, “I’m going to teach you some respect, Bitch!” “Let go of her !” I heard Marcello's voice bark, and instantly relief rushed all over me. Finally, he was here to save me but I could still feel this whiff of sadness inside of me, I’d also lost my chance of stealing the ticket. Marcello strode in slowly yet confidently, his eyes never leaving mine and his hands curling into fists. “No one touches my prized possession!” He added. The man chuckled softly and cleared his throat, “And who are you?” “The inferno!”Gabriella“I stole it!” I bellowed my voice raspy and weak; I had to lie, there was no way I was going to let Luca get into trouble. “You stole it?” Marcello repeated his tone laced with doubt.“Yes, from a random maiden, she had no idea I stole it, so yeah, you can go ahead and punish me for wanting to be free!” I retorted.A small smile played on his thin lips as he clicked his tongue. Then he muttered silently, “I don’t believe you.”My heart sank, was he a demon or something? It was as if he had placed me under some lie detector machine.“What?”He narrowed his gaze over me, “I think you aren’t saying the whole truth and you know that can get you in trouble, right?”“What would I gain by lying?” I said almost immediately; he gripped the bars, his face filled with zero empathy.“That’s what I’m still trying to understand, who are you trying to protect?”I swallowed hard, faking a smile, “You’re so delusional, why would I want to protect any of your spawns?”He went mute for a few
GabriellaThe plan was simple: wait until dawn and sneak out of the mansion with the key Luca had provided. But little did I know that my plans were about to be an epic failure.Marcello had been to the House of Hell casino, according to Adrianna, and I was all alone in my room, plotting and mapping out my escape plans.“You look distant!”Andrianna's voice jolts me out of my reverie, and I feign a smile. “I’m just sad about my father’s death!” I muttered, leaning against the headboard, and she caressed my hands softly.“I know what my brother did to your family is terrible and there is no amount of apology that would heal that wound!” She pleaded.I swallowed, nodding, pretending to understand what she was saying, but deep down I needed her to leave so I could escape. I stared at the wall clock behind her. It was almost six pm. “Thank you, Andrianna, thank you for keeping me company but I’d like to take a nap.”“Oh, it’s alright, I’d let you rest.” With that Adrianna stormed out of
Gabriella The man burst into loud laughter and I shook with fear, what was he laughing about? “Of course I know you and guess what? I’m not scared of you,” He snarled, turning to face me, “this lady is coming alone with me.” I should be jubilant and joyous, but I wasn’t. Who knows, he might be just as bad as Marcello was. A smile played on Marcello's mouth then he took one step closer but the man tightened his grip on my neck. “Any more move and I’d slit her throat!” He threatened. Shit! This can’t be happening to me, why did I even come here in the first place? “Don’t hurt her!” Marcello said emotionlessly his gaze locked on mine, he then winked at me but not in a flirty way, but in a way that suggested that I try to hit the man who was holding me. “I will do what I want with her!” He said and that’s when I felt the pistol kissing my head. Shit! I was totally fucked, Marcello gave me that wink again and it nearly drove me insane. How can he ask that of me? I was lanky, wea

Gabriella “Oh my….” I gasped when I realized I’d missed, he dodged so the knife hit the wall falling to the marbleFall. I tried to kill my father’s murderer yet I failed once again. I’d expected him to flare up or even slap me hard across the face but instead, I got no reaction, he kept his facial expression straight and emotionless as if he was considering killing me on the spot or starving me for the next five days like he always did.“I’d have skinned you alive but I’m in quite a good mood because we have a date to attend, wife,” he said taking a step forward, we were now standing face to face.He lifted my chin so I could look into his big black eyes that had no soul in them and then a small smile played at the side of his lips, “ Get ready wife, but don’t waste my time.”He motioned to Luca to carry me back to my room, which he did. I was so shocked that I had no words. I thought I would be punished, but instead, here I was in my room, preparing for a stupid date I didn’t wan
Marcello“Dispose of him,” I commanded, pulling off the blood-soaked gloves I wore, a smile playing on my lips as I reminisced on how I’d dealt with Sebastian, a reminder that no one messes with my family and goes scot-free; they always suffer. I disposed of the gloves in the bin, crouching to stare at Sebastian's limp body. While I waited for two of my men to drag him away towards the dark hallway, his neck slumped to the side.I brought out the pocket square wiping my hands. I was still wearing the tuxedo I wore to my weddings, I didn’t have enough time to change, and I had to attend to pressing issues that Sebastian was trying to escape from the basement I kept in. “Are we done here?”Luca asked, his voice jolting me out of my reverie. “Of course, we are, he’s dead after all,” I said walking towards the hallway, Luca flanked me, trying to keep up with my pace. “I have news on the men spying on the House of hell!”Luca boomed and I stopped in my steps, my attention grasped now.“
