Chapter 10

ALICIA POV

Standing in a corner, I watched Alexander and Claudia being all around each other and I couldn't help but feel a little bit of teardrop trying to slip its way out of my eyes, but I immediately held it in as I bit the down of my lips.

Feeling emotional, I turned around and I raced off not even waiting to see what the final result would be.

I stood there for a while thinking maybe, just maybe, Alex was doing that to keep her silent.

But from how they stood, how they continued kissing, I could tell that he was not doing it for anything or to try and ease any problem that was happening.

He was intentionally doing it.

He was intentionally traumatizing me.

He was intentionally making things hard for me.

As I went back to our table, I noticed Arnold and Adrian were having a very heated argument.

Noticing I had arrived, they quickly stopped.

"Where have you been since? Were you really in the toilet for hours? Because I can't even believe it," Adrian said to me as I feigned a quick smile.

"No, I actually just went out to take a little breeze after using the toilet and I'm back," I said to him playfully before taking my seat as Arnold brought out a little cupcake for me and slowly shifted it to my side before smiling at me.

"It's for you. Enjoy it. I know you would love the flavor. It's one of the best and we got it free on the house," he said to me and I did not hesitate to peel the body before chewing on it.

It had a very savory taste, something very sweet.

I couldn't help but smile in appreciation as they both felt happy and proud, I guess, of making me smile.

I also instantly forgot about Alexander, and Claudia kissing earlier and was so fixated on enjoying every little taste and savor of this cake.

While I continued, I couldn't help but smile again.

Just then, Alex and Claudia joined us and instantly that smile vanished.

Even though I still had the cake filling up my mouth, I could still feel the flavor.

I couldn't help but feel even more sad.

Claudia looked so happy and she had her hands around Alex.

Same with Alex,who also had a smile on his face.

As I stared at him, I couldn't help but try to wonder if this smile was sincere or he was just pretending to make Claudia happy?

Claudia sat down again in her former seat and looked at me before humming some words which I didn't really get while Alex took his seat and instantly our eyes met.

I looked away quickly and picked up my phone to check the time.

"Haven't we stayed our welcome? Are we still going to stay here? Why don't we just go home? I have assignments to do and I don't think sitting here would solve it," I said to Adrian as he raised his hand in realization.

"That's true, time is going. I just remembered I also have a project," Adrian said to me as he stood up.

I guess he noticed that I was feeling a bit uncomfortable.

I also stood up; I wanted to follow Adrian and of course, Arnold had already claimed the bill but Alex pulled me back.

"Why? Why are you going when you have not even had your food yet? You were just playing around with it earlier and now it's still in the same position.

Aside from that cupcake you are biting around and not even able to finish it.

Do you just want to waste our money because we decided to take you out on a treat?" Alex said to me as I looked at Claudia, who still had that stupid devilish smile on her face.

"It's fine, I can pay you back when my mom is back. I will pay you back every penny.

Please. I don't know why I thought I had lost my appetite. I guess I saw something I was not supposed to see," I said to him and instantly from the way his facial expression changed, I knew that he understood exactly what I meant.

I then looked at Claudia, smiled fakely , and then walked away as Arnold of course joined us leaving only Alex and Claudia inside the restaurant.

As I sat in the car, Arnold quickly turned his attention from the passenger seat to me.

"Are you alright? Did you see something? Was something going on between Alex and Claudia when you walked up to them? Maybe when you went to get some fresh air or something?" Adrian asked as I calmly chuckled.

"Nothing happened, okay? I didn't see anything. I was just being sarcastic.

I knew they were together and of course maybe they were doing something. You know. Adultery," I said to Adrian as he laughed loudly, slapping his hands on his lap as it felt like a funny joke to him.

"Really? Alex, Claudia together? For your information, I don't want to say this but Alex and Claudia are only dating because of their popularity.

You know, they have to make everyone believe it because they gain a lot of favor from being together.

But I have never really seen Alex so into Claudia that he would really want to do much with her except if they are very secretive about it.

But I have never seen it," Adrian stated as it came like a realization to me.

Does this mean that it was the effect of time for Alex to pour out his feelings?

I tried again to recall what I saw, but clearly, it was Alex kissing Claudia, not Claudia forcing herself on him.

Oh, God, this is just frustrating.

Just then, as we were about to start the engine, Alex opened the car door and sat again beside me.

I looked around and saw that Claudia had already entered the cab and left.

And he looked angry.

"What had happened? What had happened between him and Claudia inside that restaurant just a few minutes after we walked out?"
