Chapter 9: Nick Davis

Jax was silent at Ann's words. He realized the tension Ann felt when she was with him. Jax was used to being cold and wary. He suspected everything. This had indeed become a habit he had been doing for years regarding his way of life. But he had to be gentle with this woman. After all, this woman was the child of his past life savior. Jax took a deep breath as he continued to watch the road behind the steering wheel.

"Listen to me, Ann. I'm sorry I was rude to you yesterday. I haven't grasped the situation and thought you were an intruder. I'm sorry, okay?" Jax said, glancing at Ann and smiling apologetically.

Jax looked more lenient and genuinely sorry. Ann smiled and nodded. She was willing to forgive Jax for last night's misunderstanding.

"Okay, I forgive you," replied Ann.

"Are we cool?" asked Jax.

"Yes, we are cool," replied Ann with a sweet smile.
