Chapter 4 He finds me!

'You can take your revenge by this engagement, you know that, right?' Receiving the note from her best friend Saffron, Scar sighed and turned to look outside of the car.

Yes, Saffron was right. The Edwards family belonged to veteran aristocrats in this country, which meant that being their daughter-in-law would bring you endless wealth as well as strong power.

And it was said that their heir was a young genius who got a god's face. But Scar was not sure whether it was true as she never had a chance to meet him before.

'I am not into getting married. Well, at least not like this.' Shaking her head, Scar replied to her friend with a negative choice.

'Just for the relic.' Closing her eyes, she took a sharp breath and reminded herself of the motive of her joining the banquet.

Soon they arrived, Scarlett stepped out of the car and found out that the ladies here tonight had given their best to look catchy.

'Maybe I can keep myself hidden from others' eyes if I keep my distance away.' She thought in mind.

"Oh dad, don't worry. I will be an obedient girl and do what makes my father happy." Camilla said sweetly, batting her lashes, trying to play innocent and be close to Connor.

'What a bitch!' She couldn't help rolling her eyes at her so-called sister, who seemed so full of herself.

Connor nodded his head, looking around and trying to keep his posture charismatic. "You better show your performance tonight." He started and then his eyes fell on his other daughter.

"And you..." He lowered his voice at her, only for Scar to hear. "You should better attain the task or can forget the relic."

Her already sour mood turned more tetchy. But she knew she wasn't in the position to fight back for now.

With a slow nod, Scar clenched her fists. "Yes, I remember."

"You better be." He stated. "Now, don't just stand here and try to charm the people."

With an inward sigh, Scar stepped behind her father, only to be stopped by Camilla. She closed her way and Scarlett frowned in annoyance.

"What are you doing?" Her tone was low, but cold enough to voluminous her venom for Camilla.

"Stay away from me."

"Oh!" Camilla's lips raised in a sly smirk. "You better stay away from me and the heir of Edwards. I will be getting all for myself, you filthy slut."

A curse for her was just at the tip of Scar's tongue, but it was not worth wasting words with an idiot like her.

"Wish you good luck, sister. After all, there are so many dazzling ladies tonight." She just walked away with a sarcastic smirk on her face, leaving Camilla in a stinging jealousy.

Getting inside the banquet hall, Scarlett was once again caught by her father, when she only wanted to hide in some corner. He kept introducing his two daughters to others, hoping to find any possible marriage which could bring him more benefit.

And as much Scar hates her, she still has to thank Camilla for her becoming the most irritating social butterfly and catching all the guests' attention toward her.

Suddenly, an exclamation from the crowds. The heir of the Edwards just joined the banquet, grabbing every attention over him.

Like others, Scarlett too turned her gaze in the heir's direction. Only to get choked on her own breath just by looking at his face.

'What the fuck!'

That's the only line her mind could utter at the moment as she turned speechless by all means.

Because the heir looked exactly the same as the stranger she had spent all night with yesterday!

That cold and dangerous, but extremely good-looking man.

As he was surrounded by other guests,  Scar tried to cover herself while listening to other women squealing with excitement.

She might be the only woman trying to hide and probably running away.

Yet, she failed when her father grabbed her hand tightly.

"Remember the relic, Scarlett?" His low cold voice once again, reminding her of how cruel and selfish this man could be.

"I do." She jerked his hand away, standing still behind him but not wanting to step further anymore.

Every candidate was meeting the heir and he was replying to them with a charming smile on his face.

Connor was also going to introduce his daughters to him.

'Oh, God! Why is it always me!?' She screamed in her mind, frustrated.

She didn't really want to be recognised by the man. What if he would make fun of her overtly?

She already ran away after that sinful night. Would he feel humiliated and take revenge on her?

Connor would definitely keep forcing her to get the marriage if he knew what happened!

Her thoughts broke the moment her father started the conversation.

"Hello, Mr. Edwards. I am Connor O'Dean. These two are my precious daughters' Camilla and Scarlett."

'God! Now he finds me!'
